As evidenced by the name, Tiki Tim's focuses mainly on island inspired cuisine (save for the fried pickles). Their menu is fairly modest in size, comprised of Tiki (shrimp and crab) cakes, fish tacos, a Hawaiian influenced pulled pork sandwich and a smattering of side dishes. While the choices are limited, they've all been quite good. The fish tacos are the highlight for me, with generous pieces of crispy and not-too-greasy fish, but you really can't wrong with anything (bring a knife and fork for the pork sandwich). The converted big blue Chevy is easy to spot on the streets, the service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. Given that we're about as far from the coasts as possible and a long haul from Hawaii, it's nice to see someone aspiring to bring the tropical mindset to the streets of the Twin Cities.

Service has always been attentive and most importantly, I've literally never had anything that wasn't delicious. This time, we ordered the coconut shrimp to start. They were so crisp and juicy and large. This is something that we get many places because it's my husband's favorite and we both agreed this was our favorite coconut shrimp so far in the Twin Cities. I got the Asian slaw salad with Aji tuna. I've had this before, it is so good especially the shoyu dressing. It sounds boring to come here and get a salad, but it's just delicious especially with the crunchy macadamia nuts. My husband got the loco Moco with short rib and loved it. We got fries on the side. The kabayaki aioli was so unexpected and good! The fries were hot, salty and crisp. Solid fries on their own. We also asked to try the ghost pepper aioli, which was fab and not too hot.

My husband ordered the chimichurri steak with gochujang chimichurri, miso vinaigrette, and smashed fingerlings, and his entrée was equally amazing. The only thing we weren't crazy about was the Spam sliders. They needed a sauce or another element to make them feel a little more special. The drinks were fantastic, I loved the signature margarita, and my husband enjoyed the fig and rye. The island inspired atmosphere and thoughtfully curated music added so much to the experience. Service was excellent as well the staff checked in often and made sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend it!

I have visited this location a few times and have always had a great experience - when I order online the food is ready when I arrive and when I order in person, the staff are always so kind and make the bowl with very generous portions. I usually get the 2 scoop build your own bowl and will choose salmon and spicy salmon as my protein choices although I sometimes opt for tuna and/or spicy tuna as well. All have been great and so refreshing. My favorite trick for poke which I don't see enough people doing is adding fruit. A lot of places will offer either mango and/or pineapple and both go so incredibly well with raw fish and it's even better when you add a spicy ponzu sauce to the bowl. On top of being delicious, it is also a pretty healthy option too so I feel great when I leave.

It came with a side of Guava BBQ sauce and a side of the Island Teriyaki sauce. I ordered an extra side of Teriyaki and a side of the Soy Honey Mustard. Even after traveling for a delivery from Minneapolis to St. Paul, the plate was still hot and packaged well. The chicken is to die for, and the pork is very good too. I preferred both proteins with the Guava BBQ sauce, so I'd probably order extra of that one next time. The teriyaki was great as well. The soy honey mustard was also good, but had strong hints of horseradish in it. I like horseradish, but I don't think this sauce is for everyone. The Mac salad was delicious. Tasted homemade in a good way. 5/5 would get this again!

Some of the picnic tables are breaking and wood tables would probably hold up better! The food: if you don't get the Kahlúa pork, you are doing yourself a disservice. It comes with a guava barbecue sauce, which I put on my rice. The meat is perfect on its own! I also got the garlic shrimp, which was absolutely perfection! I don't like macaroni salad, but my boyfriend said his was very good and spot on to what he had in Hawaii. My boyfriend said his chicken was very good. I ordered a Big Crunchy poke bowl and the first couple of bites were great -- but under tall the sauce and crunch there were only like 5 cubes of ahi tuna... so I felt disappointed like I paid $14 for a bowl of rice and edamame beans. I would have complained while I was there and asked for it to be remedied, but the employee was on their phone and wearing headphones and I didn't have time. As others have noted, the tables feel sticky, but looked clean -- the tackiness almost seemed like it was the table top material vs unclean, but still it threw me off at first, too. I'm hoping my tiny portion of Ahi Tuna was a fluke and not the norm -- if it is the norm, I cannot recommend.
