I am a sucker for anything with the word "tiki" in it, and luckily for me, Tiki Tim's did not disappoint. Great food and great service. Also, the little girl assistant was tons of adorable. Since I do not work in either downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul and thus never really get the opportunity to indulge in the numerous food truck options available, I always jump at the chance to check one out whenever the manfriend and I are at Hammerheart Brewery on a Friday or Saturday. This time, it was Tiki Tim's. I heard their crabcakes are INSANELY good, which they must be since they were sold out. Bummer, next time! So, option two: the fish tacos. Major win points: + the fish is fried to order! No greasy, sad, cold fried fish here! + the fish was crispy and tender, the fried batter was golden and gloriously seasoned without being overly greasy + the textures and flavors were amazing! Crispy, crunchy, savory, and tender with a nice spicy/zesty kick from their homemade sauce. I could easily eat those tacos daily. The tomatoes, cabbage, cilantro and a little lime were all the garnishes the taco needed. Seriously, this might be the perfect fish taco. I will definitely be getting food from Tiki Tim's again, hopefully this time I'll be able to get one of their tiki crab cakes before they're all gone!

I headed to downtown St. Paul today to try and find a new food truck to try, and I found a NEW food truck. I haven't gotten the whole "First to Review" ribbon in a long time, so way to go me. Tiki Tim's is a bright blue truck that serves a pretty simple menu of Fish Tacos, Tiki Cakes, Kalua Pork and a potato mac salad. By the time I got there today they were out of Tiki Cakes, so I had fish tacos. They were really excellent. The fish was fried, but not greasy. I loved them. I can't wait to get back any try the tiki cakes.

Quite awesome fish tacos! I splurged for an added third taco because I was hungry. Great decision.

I absolutely love the pineapple ginger slaw. Mixed with the pulled pork, it's dream worthy.

I'd never claim to be a expert on Hawaiian food, but I've been lucky enough to have a friend (he's…read moreHawaiian) who's a chef on the big island, who has brought me to his favorite spots, and spoil me with his knowledge of Hawaiian food. And living in Seattle for 20 years ... has exposed me to some good Hawaiian as well. Walking into Ono on a whim was by chance . I wanted something different but never did I expect to be wowed with this food in Minnesota... so many miles removed. I had the Loco Moco with hamburger steak. Came heaped with a beautiful serving of rice, macaroni salad, gravy and two eggs sunny side up (perfectly cooked) every single thing on the plate was as amazing as the next. The macaroni was salad was a point of conversation between us, but so was everything. My co-diner had the Chicken Katsu and garlic shrimp served with 2 scoops of rice, macaroni salad, and a katsu sauce. Once again... a slam dunk. Every single thing! We shared an order of spam to keep it OG, and by far the best spam I had ever touched to my lips. Who would have thunk it could have been leveled up so simply. This meal by far was one of the most amazing and pleasant surprises I could have ever expected, and can't wait to go back for more. Service style is very causal...order at the counter, get a number and they bring the food to you. Uncomplicated, and direct. Very friendly service and very dog friendly on the patio. Water dishes and dog beds are strewn about for your furry, four-legged friends. Mahalo!

The space is bright and sunny and I don't think there's a bad spot in the house. Service has always been attentive and most importantly, I've literally never had anything that wasn't delicious. This time, we ordered the coconut shrimp to start. They were so crisp and juicy and large. This is something that we get many places because it's my husband's favorite and we both agreed this was our favorite coconut shrimp so far in the Twin Cities. I got the Asian slaw salad with Aji tuna. I've had this before, it is so good especially the shoyu dressing. It sounds boring to come here and get a salad, but it's just delicious especially with the crunchy macadamia nuts. My husband got the loco Moco with short rib and loved it. We got fries on the side. The kabayaki aioli was so unexpected and good! The fries were hot, salty and crisp. Solid fries on their own. We also asked to try the ghost pepper aioli, which was fab and not too hot.

This location is inside united noodle (an Asian grocery store). There is plenty of free parking. The service here was fast and friendly. This place actually has Pepsi zero! I feel like you normally get regular and diet! Being inside this grocery store is its own vibe. There are picnic tables, chill music and a large picture of Oahu. Some of the picnic tables are breaking and wood tables would probably hold up better! The food: if you don't get the Kahlúa pork, you are doing yourself a disservice. It comes with a guava barbecue sauce, which I put on my rice. The meat is perfect on its own! I also got the garlic shrimp, which was absolutely perfection! I don't like macaroni salad, but my boyfriend said his was very good and spot on to what he had in Hawaii. My boyfriend said his chicken was very good. PARKING: easy in the United Noodle parking lot AMBIANCE: surprisingly nice for mid grocery store. Wouldn't come here expecting much of a dining experience but if you just can't wait to eat, it's not bad either!

All of the food was super fresh, especially the bread and the fish! They season and cook their tofu, too, which is always nice. Staff were also nice and prompt, and the store was clean. I highly recommend getting the (tofu) bahn mi, and even pairing it with the miso soup, which comes with tofu and green onions; it has a good umami taste, but can get a bit salty when on its own. The spicy salmon sushiritto was more sweet than spicy (lowkey no spice haha), and the chicken was good quality. I recommend coming if you want a clean, fresh meal! Their prices are pretty affordable, too. Btw, they currently also have a promotion where you can get 1 free green tea/mango mochi if you leave a google/Yelp review!
