I frequent JJ's Poke. The food has always been fresh and delicious. I have tried many different combos and love them all. I highly suggest signing up for the rewards program. I have saved money on my orders from the rewards I earn. When you enter there is a table with papers for you to place your order on if you are doing a customized bowl. Then you bring your order to the staff to place it. The staff is always pleasant and friendly and the place is clean every time I stop in.

This is my FAVORITE place to get a chicken rice bowl. There are so many customizable options!! My favorite combo always includes some teriyaki and or yum yum sauce, and avocado!! The chicken is always well cooked and the rice sticky. But, my favorite thing from here is the chicken bun. It's my favorite piece of food in the twin cities!! The chicken is so crispy, soft on the inside, balanced with the lettuce, sweet sauce, and cucumbers provides the best balance of flavors and textures!! The bun is also so soft and fresh!! The service is always so quick, whether I order in restaurant or from door dash!! It's a casual place and there's lot of room to sit down or wait!! Highly recommend this place!!

Now tell me that doesn't look delicious.

JJ's Poke is the best poke bowl place in Minnesota. The salmon is so fresh and chilled perfectly on top of brown or white rice, which are both delicious. When you walk in you grab a paper and fill in your order. Once done, hand that to the cashier and boom! Quick and friendly service so I would definitely recommend. I get mine to go but there are tables to sit at if you want to eat inside. Parking was full on the meters on the street and they don't have a parking lot. I parked by Burrito Loco and walked over 2 blocks. The parking was 75 cents for 15 minutes.

I parked across the street from JJ's Poke when I was in Dinkytown. This poke place intrigued me so much that I decided to grab lunch here. It's takeout only. It is also a family-run eatery. Mom was behind the counter and her daughter was playing at a table. I looked at the menu. It has poke bowls and ramen. That's my kind of eatery! I felt like poke, so I went with the rainbow bowl. It had salmon, tuna, yellowtail, scallions, masago mix with garlic soy yuzu, seaweed salad, crab salad, cucumber, avocado, edamame, tamago, and lemon zest. I asked for mixed greens. The woman said that it would take five minutes. Wow! I paid with a credit card. I tipped. All good. Sure enough, she was done with my order in five minutes. She put my food in a paper bag with handles. I thanked her and left. I ate my food immediately in my car. I had lots of time before my parking time would expire. I also hadn't eaten in my rental car before. The poke bowl was excellent. Everything was so fresh. She was generous with all ingredients in my bowl. It was so tasty. Who knew that the Twin Cities would be a hot spot for poke? I know now. I'd love to return and check out the ramen next. However, with such a great poke experience, I may stick with it forever. This place dishes out top-notch poke in Dinkytown. There is also a location in Edina to keep in mind when I'm in that part of the city. (479)

Although the smoothies here are on the pricier side, they are pretty large and taste good. The bowls are a good value for a decent portion with fresh ingredients!

    Fat from my poke bowl

I ordered using Uber eats and got the gyugon beef bowl It beef was very stringy and about 75% fat it was inedible I believe it was 17$ Very nasty stuff the regular beef bowl is delicious If you don't want a bowl of stringy fat get that instead

I love JJs poke and decided to join their rewards program this time because you get 5% off every bowl. I love all their options and think the price is reasonable for poke. Their ingredients taste fresh and flavorful. There isn't a ton of seating since they closed off half the restaurant, so I recommend doing take out. The inside is a bit cramped. I love that you don't have to hover over all the ingredients and that it's in the kitchen. All you have to do is fill out a form and they get it to you super quickly. They also are happy to answer any questions that you have about the ingredients. Parking is a pain but parking in Dinkytown is always a pain.

I can't believe I had to discover this amazing poke bowl place through Bite Squad but I am so glad I did! For those who don't know Dinkytown area- this place is located on the same block as the Target (it is a bit hidden). I'm only had the poke bowls here so I can't speak for the ramen. The poke bowls are amazinggg- for the amount and portions you get the price is reasonable. Everything also taste very fresh! Personally I usually get salmon or spicy salmon as my portion and almost a bit of every veggie. As for the sauce I love spicy mayo. On the positive note- the staff is also friendly and not annoyed when I asked a million questions! I'm ready to go back!

This is some damn good poke. That's it. That's the review. Okay, but seriously - great addition to the Dinkytown area. Thank god this place wasn't around when I was a student because I would have been an even more broke ass student if I had this temptation around for lunch. If you're a newcomer to poke, they have signature bowls, but I personally like to customize it. Portions are pretty reasonable, although they recently raised their prices to more like $17 for a large bowl. I'm a tuna lover, so I always order the ahi tuna, which comes in these HUGE chunks that taste pretty damn fresh. They've got a million sauces to choose from, but I highly recommend their garlic soy yuzu - it's bomb. Eat it. Thank me later. Service is speedy, and whenever I order online, it's less than 10 minutes for it to be ready. Right now due to COVID, they're not dining indoors, so it is pickup only. Parking is a hassle (it's Dinkytown, lower your expectations) but there's metered parking a block or two around the corner if you can't find anything right in front of the store.

I am so impressed with this place. Found this poke bowl by accident when I dined in Lepot next door. They have 3 sizes for custom bowls with reasonable prices. They also gives you at least 2 scoops for the protein in Signature Bowls, now that is a good deal. The portion is big as well and we barely finished our bowls. I love how they have different and unique toppings such as massage, tamago, and my favorite Seaweed Salad! The sauce is also tasty and they let you try it first! After you finished, they gave us complimentary desserts. Place is clean and service is friendly! I would recommend the place and definitely come back.

In…read morere-reading my reviews, I stand by everything I've said about the excellent consistent quality of the food, the service, and how much I enjoy coming to this restaurant. I truly hope they are around longer than I am. I would hate to find out this was one of the choices no longer available to us. Please read my previous reviews for a more inclusive view; this review focuses only on their lobster. I had previously mentioned that they prices of their lobsters (I love the version with black bean sauce) have gone up tremendously. While true, there seems to have been a subtle change in their pricing strategy. Previously (as of before the pandemic), the lobster was priced by the pound, which is the conventional way of doing it. However, they seem to have two lobster prices. The first one is called "Big Lobster" and they say it's between 2 and 2 and half pounds per lobster. The price of that (as of this review) is $56 dollars, or $28 per pound. That's not really a bad price at all. It's expensive, but reasonable. The other lobster is called "Live Lobster" and is priced $10 less at $46. So the real question is how much does this second version weigh? I ordered the Big Lobster, but they said they were out of it. I asked the weight of the "Live Lobster" but I didn't really get a straight answer, but he seemed to say "about two pounds" which doesn't really make sense because that's the price of the larger, more expensive lobster. But I decided to go for it anyway. As I stated in my last review, I'm guessing this lobster is at least two pounds, based on many years of eating lobster. For this review, I had ChatGPT translate the the Chinese on the menu, thinking it was secret code for "if you can read Chinese, save ten dollars by ordering this version" but AI says the Chinese means "lobster" so if you spoke Chinese, you'd still be mystified. So my recommendation is order the version that is ten dollars cheaper and you may (or may not) be paying $23 a pound. Price aside, I love this version of lobster and it is certainly a better deal than what you would pay at an American style seafood or steak restaurant in the Twin Cities.

Plus with our spouses out of town it was a great excuse for a "boys night out" in downtown. Things were a bit quiet (it's January after all) but that was ok with me. We sat in a great two-person booth facing the huge bar. The restaurant features inventive cocktails so I had my usual when places have skilled bartenders-Markers Mark whiskey sour-made perfectly. The food menu features a lot of very reasonably priced fish and seafood dishes and some pricey steaks like a fillet for $88 (wow!). Sides are separate and they've got a long list of tantalizing starters too although you MUST try the amazing shrimp/avocado boats-4 crunchy little endive boats with a delicious ceviche-like mixture of tiny shrimp. Scrumptious!! And just a lite bite so you definitely have room for the fluffy grougheres with the fontina cheese dip. For sides we loved the potato pave(square of scalloped potatoes) and the fried eggplant with a sticky honey bbq drizzle. Our server Dominica took excellent care of us a Carl did a nice job assisting-water glasses were always full (to me a mark of a well run place). We arrived around 5:30 p.m., about 30 minutes after opening. The room was dark, cramped, and louder than the small space can really support. The playlist was distracting, and the kitchen staff audibly singing along did not help the atmosphere. Service was well-intentioned but missed the mark. Our server could not tell us whether the main component of a dish was cucumber, fennel, both, or something else, which is a basic menu question at this price point. Timing was off throughout the meal, so if you are expecting polished, well-paced service, I would look elsewhere. The food was the biggest disappointment. I could see an attempt at creativity, but the dishes felt more confused than composed. Several flavors landed at extremes: too sweet, too spicy, or too heavy on fishy funk, without enough balance to pull them together. It felt like "fusion" without a clear point of view. Parking is also difficult in this part of the North Loop, so plan for a ramp, valet, or extra time and money. I would not return for happy hour, dinner, a hosted meal, or a special occasion.
