Is this the best poke in Hilo? No idea, we're going to need a longer trip to decide that debate. However, it is definitely solid and can give Oahu poke shops a run for their money. A literal hole in the wall (aren't these always the best?) offering poke bowls, they do it a bit differently than others. How so you say? Well, we got the All Star and it came with sweet potato salad. This is fairly unusual and the sphere of purple made for some nice contrasts. The mix of spicy ahi and salmon poke was tasty and filling along with the imitation crab salad. The sauce on top supported the fish rather than overpowering it. My wife and I shared a bowl and finished off everything. It is a solid pokebowl by anyone's measure. Parking is limited to street and there are a few tables but be prepared to either eat standing or take it to go.
Great reviews so we had to come by! I love how they make their poke bowls with all the additions. I got the spicy ahi and it was good. The pickles were tasty and the sweet potato side was delicious. I'm not a huge fan an imitation crab and there was a good scoop of it so it's good if you like it! My husband got the garlic spicy ahi which was really good. If we went back, I would get that one! Ordering was very fast also. There's not too much seating but we just took it to go and ate in the car. I would try it again if we're in the area.
I came at 12pm on a wednesday and there was a short line. There is no indoor seating and only a few tables for outdoor seating. Luckily we were able to get a table. Our order took around 5-10 minutes to come out and it was good -- the poke was fresh and I liked the addition of the toppings. Each bowl was $16.50 which seemed like a fair price!
We were craving poke, and since we were on the Hilo side, we decided to grab it from this place. It was more like a small cabin with just a window where you order, and they hand you the food through it. Very simple, very grab-and-go. We got a classic poke plate with rice and two types of fish, and purple yam. Everything tasted very fresh and flavorful. We also got one snack, unfortunately, I don't remember the name, but it was also very, very good. At first, I was hesitating a little when thinking about the overall experience, just because it's not a place where you sit down, and from the outside it might not look like much. But honestly, the food was amazing. And I realized that maybe this is exactly how locals eat: simple places with truly great food. We took it and ate near the ocean, which made the whole experience even more special. So I would say food is definitely 5 out of 5. And overall, I would still give it 5, because in the end, the taste and the moment mattered the most!
The poke here is nicely marinated. The storefront is a walk-up order at the window style joint. I ordered the rainbow bowl, had an assortment of fish over their rice. The rice is seasoned and was in my opinion my favorite part of the bowl I had. Their sides are also well made as well.
This was my favorite poke in Hilo, tucked in a small shack on a busy street. The yuzu salmon was amazing - large chucks of salmon w/ a yuzu dressing. The purple sweet potato salad was my favorite side, i've never had a purple potato salad before. This bowl was well balanced with freshly pickled cucumbers, crab salad was solid, ahi was fresh on a hot bed of rice. I would def reccomend this spot if you're in the area. Will be dreaming about this bowl until next time!!
This little hole in the wall was definitely a standout spot! The sweet purple mashed potatoes were really unique and savory. This place is a must try while in Hilo.
This is a little hole in the window shop in the north end of Hilo. Service was quite nice and described each of the food items for us. There is no parking in the nearby vicinity that's free, so recommend if there is a party of 2, someone getting down and quickly ordering. There were no free tables to sit down and eat so it's quite grab and go. When ordering they also have onigiri that you can grab to go. The spicy tuna onigiri was fantastic. The food comes out within a few minutes. The women taking our order was very patient and helped us decide which poke bowl we wanted. Of the poke we had in Hawaii this was our favorite. Even my parents who don't like seafood claiming it taste fishy were digging in. Our bowl had both tuna and salmon. I loved the ahi tuna, my brother was a bigger fan of the salmon. Plenty of toppings were also provided the mac salad was also great. Overall, some of the best poke I have had and would encourage you to visit if on big island.

Superlatives come too easily when it comes to food reviews, but this was the best poke I've ever had. If anyone knows somewhere better I'll try it, but I'd rather buy a flight back to Hawaii for a sure thing.
This poke was amazing. Simple order at the window, service was good. Ambiance is literally the window and a couple tables outside. It was the perfect quick lunch! - All star bowl (4.5/5): so yummy! The tuna and salmon were perfect, even the ube potato was amazing. $18 - Everyday joe bowl (4/5): this just came with tuna, so I preferred the Allstar bc of the variety. But both were delicious!

Let me tell you about the power of Yelp. Never, in a million years, would I ever order a poke bowl from a walk-up window where you were not allowed to see what goes on inside. Well, I trusted Yelp reviews because they haven't let me down yet. The bowls were delicious and fresh and $8 a bowl cheaper than their competitor at the farmers market. I would absolutely come back. The drawbacks were that they only sold bottled water and juices. I wanted a Diet Coke, but, nonetheless, the water was nice, cold and way better for me than diet soda.
Super friendly staff and best poke I've had on the island. Yuzu salmon was the only one left at 1pm on a weekday - I'm guessing they usually sell out fast! All the options looked really good and the yuzu salmon was so delicious! The yuzu wasn't overpowering. I usually don't like mayo based sauces but this one was light and great! Id love to try the ahi next time. Takeout only here! read more

A takeout window along the street that you can just walk up to and order. AKA no indoor seating! We weren't aware of that when we came here. The menu is on a small transparent board infront of the window and there's a couple of staff inside. There's only outdoor seating here along the sidewalk so be aware! We were really hot from the humid weather so we walked with our food to our cars and drove elsewhere to eat the poke. There were also a lot of others that took all of the seats, so it worked out. The poke we got was served very quickly. Upon ordering, the staff walks to the back and prepares the bowl. Hence this is a good spot for a very quick lunch while you are on the go. My girlfriend and I shared the 1/4 poke bowl since we weren't too hungry. The 1/4 bowl is $16.25 while the 1/2 bowl is $19.95. With tax, our 1/4 bowl became $19.87 for the total, but I think it's because we also chose salmon. The local fish is the ahi tuna from Hawaii but we were craving salmon since we had ahi tuna the other day. On the menu, it wasn't written down but we asked and they had some. FLAVORS we chose: Ginger Scallion and Chili Garlic Crunch. These sauces and flavors were so unique. We did not know how it would taste but they were definitely very interesting and paired strongly with the tender fish. The salmon wasn't too exceptional, we were hoping that there was an additional charge, that the salmon would taste really good but it wasn't the case. The sauces felt overpowering in our opinions. The crab meat here was shredded and soft. Overall, it was a bowl of fresh poke, can't go too wrong with that. Would definitely wish for larger portions to get more money's worth. read more

Great reviews so we had to come by! I love how they make their poke bowls with all the additions. I got the spicy ahi and it was good. The pickles were tasty and the sweet potato side was delicious. Ok... I try stay calm... fam is from Kaneohe + we gots some good poke in seattle area... this was hands down the BEST poke I ever had in my LIFE. U fakas gotta believe me. This is one of the best, if not the best, poke bowls I've ever had! I ordered the all-star poke, which includes spicy ahi tuna and yuzu salmon. Both types of fish were very good. The yuzu salmon has a light and refreshing citrusy flavor. The spice level of the spicy ahi tuna is very mild if you have a moderate spicy tolerance. The yuzu salmon was my favorite, while the spicy ahi tuna was my cousin's favorite, so I would recommend trying both! The initiation crab and especially the taro salad were also really good. Everything blended so well together. In terms of portion size, I thought the bowl was the perfect size for me because I was full by the end of it. Maybe the amount of fish given is less than other places, but I only really noticed because other reviews commented on that. Otherwise, I think the proportions of all the food offered was good. Came across this place while walking around hilo town. It's literally a hole in the wall and I am so glad we decided to try it out. There was no line but as we ordered, the next thing I knew there were at least three other groups waiting to order! I decided to get the Spicy D Tokyo Bowl and boy oh boy did I LOVE it so much. I live on Oahu and there are so many places to get great poke, and this thing was probably on my top three I have ever tried! The toppings were so good as well. At first I thought cabbage?? WHY?? But it gave the perfect crunch and added a refreshing factor as well. The poke itself was also very flavorful and I can't wait to be back! read more

Customer service always on point here. Got the All Star Bowl, has the Yuzu Salmon & the Spicy Ahi poke, plus sweet potato salad, pickled cucumber, and imitation crab salad sides. I recommend getting it seared, gives it a nice flavor! If you get here early enough they also have teriyaki spam musubi & shrimp tempura musubi available! read more
Their shop is a small little window with no indoors. There is 2 outdoor tables that are available. The portion sizes are on the smaller size, but the quality and taste of the poke makes up for it. super fresh! The sweet potato salad that they put in the bowl was soo good. My wife and I have been going to Hilo for the past 13 yrs since her mom moved there. We tried Suisan Fish Market our 1st time in Hilo and I thought it was just ok. Didn't really understand the hype. But then we noticed Poke Market opened in Hilo on 1 of our other visits and had to try it. It's purely a take out spot and the service is fast. And man, it's good. The poke tastes a lot better, from the fish to how they season it. And the sides are so simple and yet so tasty. Now, we just come here for poke when we're in Hilo. read more

Overall Experience: 8.4 /10 The shop is a small stall on the side of the building in Hilo, and was a takeout only. The shop was initially hard to find but when you get closer to it is easy to spot out. We tried the spicy hawaiian and shiitake salmon. Both bowls were fresh, but the spicy didn't pack enough punch. It felt like the sauces did not have enough flavor, for both bowls. The fish did most the work as the sides were good but not great. The Ube scoop was a little under seasoned while the imitation crab salad was mostly mayo tasting. The shiitake salmon had more flavor but we were both disappointed in the portion sizes of the food after viewing the photos on yelp beforehand. The rice given was minimal and the fish scoops were small. However given all that the fish was great, I do think it was just an unlucky batch we may have received at the time. The service was nice and the person taking our order helped us out on what to choose. Overall I would come back to try it again maybe on a better day to hopefully see what the hype is all about, but for now I would not give it a strong go but go if you're craving poke. read more

Wow tried this spot from a few recommendations and overall satisfied. Personally bummed you can't just order poke because I rather have the fish than all the sides but glad the fish tastes great. Or I definitely would've ordered just extra poke to go with my bowl. Tried the spicy garlic and the sesame soy and both were delicious. People in line were raving about the yuzu salmon so I'll have to try that next time. They were out of avocado today but the pickled cucumber was a nice substitute. It's literally a cute hole in the wall you might miss if you're not looking for it lol. Two small tables to enjoy your food or take it to go. A huge plus is the big parking lot next door as street parking can be stressful. There's also designated parking for this establishment but no worries they're super quick and very friendly! If I didn't just come from the farmers market I would've picked up some musubis cause those looked so good! Will definitely be back! Support our small local businesses! read more

After sampling between 4-5 poke spots per island (Hawai'i, Kauai and Maui) I consider myself somewhat of a poke connoisseur and have officially found what I believe to be the *best poke spot* of all time! From the moment I laid eyes on the menu, I knew the Shiitake Yuzu salmon would be out-of-this-world amazing and it completely lived up to all expectations. This poke carries a rich essence of mushroom umami with overlying bright, tangy citrus notes that infuse without overpowering the fatty flavor of that buttery rich salmon. For your first time, the All-Star Bowl comes with a little of everything: both Spicy Ahi and Shiitake Salmon along with a dollop of Poke Market's signature creamy ube salad. And finally, the unagi truffle sauce drizzle and crunchy Bubu Arare (tiny rice cracker pearls) as delicate-not-distracting garnishes to finish off this exquisite bowl were simply ~ chef's kiss ~ A lot of locals seem to frequent this spot on their lunch breaks and there's always a line but service is fast and friendly! Keep in mind there's no seating area but just under a 5 min drive away are the gorgeous Lili'uokalani Gardens - the perfect spot to enjoy your bowls under some nice shady banyan trees overlooking the water :) read more
