The aroma from the smokehouse is amazing. The menu offers so many delectable items it was hard to decide. Our party of four was very strategic so we could sample as much as possible. As close to Kansas City style bbq (lived there 12 years) that I've had this side of the Mississippi. I grew up about a mile from the restaurant. I was excited to see when it was renovated. The atmosphere is that of a high class, 5 star type establishment, but without the judgment and exclusion. As for the fare, I am thoroughly impressed and enjoy each option, experience, and/or encounter. Pricing is mid-level to high (my opinion!) But, the value is there 100%. I have had many good dinners at Point Phillips over the years but my meal and service last Friday was AWFUL. Lorraine was our waitress and she couldn't smile if someone paid her. I asked for water she brought 1 glass (there were 4 of us) so We asked for more water and she was not happy about it. I ordered a beef tip with potatoes served in a cast iron pan. The meat was barely able to be cut with a sharp knife and it was swimming in grease. The best part of the evening was knowing we were leaving and not ever coming back. read more

Always busy and take away is what I do. Great selection of smoked meats and other offerings. Been here multiple times and for a period of time it was one of our favorites in the Valley. There was a time when the Brisket Burnt Ends on Thursday nights was worth the 45-50 minute drive. As of late....not so much especially if you get the re-heated variety on a Friday [if there are left-overs]. Like every other restaurant, the prices have gone up significantly - more so than you'd expect. As recent as Jan 2025, my final bill was $150 - that's with no alcohol, 3 entrees (one of which was a glorified hamburger), 2 Burnt Ends platters, corn bread and a French Onion Soup. $150??? Really??? Maybe not 100% of their fault, but this seems way too much for what we ordered (definitely someone's fault that I'll leave out of this review); however, I've learned something from a former server about this restaurant. This particular server waited on us multiple times and was OUTSTANDING!!! She's no longer with the restaurant, but learned that younger wait staff came into the restaurant and kept pushing to "pool their tips" and divide equally among all the wait staff and the manager and/or owner finally caved. After learning this - I will NEVER go here again!!! To Improve Service = TIP!!!!! Get it? I want to tip MY WAITRESS based on how she serves ME!!!! Conversely - each waitress should be motivated to take care of their particular customers instead on relying on other's efforts to line their share of the tip jar. I'm stunned that this establishment got pressured into this and rolled over. Way too much rolling over these days across our entire society. With this policy I could care less about all other aspects of this eatery.....the food, atmosphere, etc.. Bad move. read more

This place has it ALL!! Great good- they smoke their own meats! Portions are large! Salmon and scallops are superb. This is crazy- we NEVER would order meatloaf anywhere. Great place! We had a table of 8 for my Mother's 87th birthday (she chose the place). Great service, reasonable prices and best of all quality food! My only negative was we waited 40 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation for a month. I recommend they let the early seated tables know there is a limit on time when they make the reservation and when they arrive. read more

I really hoped to find a decent BBQ place in this area. This isn't it. They say they smoke their meats in house and they do have big propane tanks out back. But the brisket here does not taste like it has EVER been near smoke. No sign of a smoke ring. Dry and flavorless. Chopped up like dog food, rather than sliced. The sauce was good - the only thing that could make this garbage meat halfway edible. But brisket shouldn't need to be drowned in sauce. Only in the LV could you pass this off as barbecue. In the South you'd be arrested, and in Texas you'd probably get the chair. Apart from that - the sides were fantastic. I'd make a meal of those any day (garlic green beans, fries or mashers, mac and cheese, baked beans, onion rings, cole slaw, etc.) Wings were very tasty, other appetizers good as well. I didn't have dessert but they looked good too. And the service is terrific. Really fast and friendly. Just say no to the "brisket". read more

We were presently surprised with this place! Being from the south, I will say the BBQ was very good with a great smoky flavor!!! We had the wings to start which were very good; crispy and a smoky flavor. For dinner, I got the sampler with: baby back ribs, cheese andouille, the braut, baked beans, and pierogies. My husband got the sampler as well with: chicken, pulled pork, brisket, warm potato salad, and Mac n cheese. Both of our meals were SO good! If you're looking to order off of the smokehouse menu, I highly recommend the sampler so you can try a few different things! For dessert we had the warm peach with ice cream, yum! Only recommendation on the food: baked beans were a little bland (including bacon and onion would be great), would love to see more than one BBQ sauce option (different flavors and spice level would be great), and serve all smokehouse BBQ dishes with white bread (just because this is what I'm use to in the south!). The atmosphere is quaint and the restaurant is a good size. There's a cozy bar area and two larger dining areas. They take reservations which I recommend. Staff was very friendly and service was great. Food came out quickly! They have a great beer and bar menu. This place is out in the boonies but SO worth the trip! Best BBQ I've had up north by far!!! Ate here with family Friday night. Staff was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the 2 choice smoked meat with two sides. I asked for the brisket and St. Louis ribs. For side I ordered French fries and asparagus. The food was ok. I'm a big fan of smoked food and have my own. If your a smoked meat fan you know that a good way to see if it's good is wether or not BBQ sauce needs to be added. The ribs had a good smoke ring. You could see it through the rib. The seasoning was also good no need to add sauce. The ribs could stand alone. The brisket unfortunately feel a little flat. There was little smoke flavor or taste. I had to add BBQ to give the meat flavor. I also tried my daughters pulled pork and this also had little smoke flavor and was weak on the seasoning. All three meat were very moist though. For a smoke restaurant it is ok. read more

Everything was so fresh and delicious. I am a big wing snob and these wings did not disappoint!! I also got a side salad, even that was amazing with homemade balsamic vinaigrette. We sat at the bar and watched the bartenders freshly squeeze juice for each beverage and pick mint from out back for the mojito. It was a great experience with equally amazing food. The service was also amazing, our bartender Libby made us feel right at home while she got us anything we needed. There was great ambiance in the bar area, I highly recommend this place! I am so happy I found this place. It's a real Gem. Been 3 times in about 2 weeks. The staff is amazing. I've had the Pork Burritos, Cheesesteak, and Fresh Fried Haddock Sandwich. All served with great quality. The Ribs are great too. Can't wait to try out Burnt Tip Thursday. Plan on taking the In-laws here for a special occasion. We trie the Point Phillips Hotel based on recommendations of friends. The atmosphere is very nice, rustic Americana. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. This would not be a place to have conversations requiring a reasonable quiet venue because noise levels are high, but not offensive. We called ahead and were seated in about 15 minutes after arrival. Our meals were a brisket, baby back ribs combo and the smoked pork, sauerkraut plate. The smoked pork was quite bland and not smokey although it tasted fine. The kraut was very good, as were the mashed potatoes. Like the pork the brisket was not smokey and cut in chunks, as opposed to being slice or chopped. This brisket would not cut it in the South or Texas based on the lack of smoke. The ribs were fall of the bone tender with a bit more smoke. Also had an order of pickled beets which were excellent. In all cases the quality of the food itself was very good, the seasoning was lacking. We will surely go back and sample other items on the menu. I would recommend it to friends. read more

Delicious local spot. My husband and I were in the Lehigh Valley over the weekend and saw this place (via Yelp) and decided to check it out. A word of advice, make a reservation: we arrived at 6:45 on a Saturday and the next available table wasn't until 8:30. But because it looked so packed and we did not have other options readily in our heads we decided to come back at 8:30 and see what all the hype was about. I got the fish and chips and my husband got the meatloaf. Service was great, prices are affordable, and most importantly the food was great. From what I gathered, this place is new. Yelpers, when you go somewhere that just opened up, you must expect that they are still working the kinks out of the system. Upon walking in it has the "old" feel but not the "dive" feel, they have done a great job with the restoration. But, atmosphere is only one key, service and the food has to be there for me to come back for another visit! They were very busy and asked if we had called ahead, we had not and they said it would be about 30 minutes - it was around 6:30 PM and it seems everyone came in about the same time as all the tables really only had drinks on them. My wife and I had our two daughters with us, age 8 & 9, and they were pretty hungry. They were very nice to us and could tell the kids were hungry and tried to get us a table as soon as they could. We ended up at a high top in the bar area as the kids couldn't hold out for a dining area table. I was amazed at the steady stream of people coming in and the place was really packed - call ahead but check out their rules for holding a table so there is no confusion. On to the service - our waitress was very attentive when she had time. As mentioned it seemed everyone came in at the same time and I could tell they were overloaded. The service was a bit slow, but we didn't mind as we were not in a hurry - and the wait staff was not just "standing around" which sometimes happens with slow service, they were rushing and working hard, and as mentioned very good when they were with us. On to the third element important to me, the food. I was told they had some great "smoked" items so I went right to the top of my list to test a "smokehouse" place out - the baby back ribs... at all places advertised as fall off the bone but few ever meet that description. My daughter (8) is also a rib eater so she joined me in the trial. They were "fall off the bone" as advertised, very, very tasty - I have found my new rib place in the area - my daughter agreed and ripped through them so fast it even surprised me! My wife and other daughter had the quarter chicken and the chicken tenders - both had empty plates and were happy with their meals. Over all a pretty good experience for a first visit - we will definitely be back and make it even better by calling ahead to have a table in the dining area. read more

I finally got here! Hands down, one of the best hidden gems in our neck of the woods. It's a completely restored colonial-era tavernhaus. The night began with a huge cheesesteak nacho platter. It had quality shaved ribeye steak, melted American cheese, a chunky marinara sauce and garnished with jarred banana peppers. Overall, they were pretty good. I ordered the pick 2 platter, with the pulled pork and the double smoked bratwurst with baked Mac and cheese and cole slaw. The Meat was smoked to perfection. Their own BBQ sauce and mustard sauces were very good. The Mac and cheese was made like a baked casserole with cheddar and American cheeses topped with breadcrumbs. The house made slaw was excellent. Service was good, beer selection is great and they have Appalation Brewing's white Birch Beer. Pricing is in line with or lower than any chain sit-down joint. It's definitely worth the trip. read more
