We made our first trip to Point Phillips Hotel a few months ago. We walked in without a reservation, no problem for the hostess and we were seated promptly. Our waitress, checked in and asked if this was our first visit. It was and she excitedly explained the menu and some suggestions. It was wing night, so when in Rome! Wings are hickory smoked, rendering that fat and then deep fried for a perfect crust. She gladly split the order between sweet chili and the perfect heat hot (buffalo) sauces. We both opted for the two meat plates sampling the brisket, pulled pork & Cheese Stuffed Andouille Sausage along with our sides of Brown Sugar-Bourbon Baked Beams, Pickled Red Beets, Mac & Cheese and mixed vegetables. Let's start with the sides; these are not stuff thrown on the plate. They were tasty and perfect companions to the meats. Brisket and pork were moist with plenty of smoke. The sausage, crisp casing and plenty juicy. No rack full of barbecue sauces here, just the deep flavored house sauce that perfectly paired with the meats. Plan on asking for to go boxes, the portions aren't a joke. No room for desert tonight, but the waitress made sure we knew about the other weekly specials. We'll be back soon(and will post an update) for the Hickory Smoked Prime Rib. And I can't forget about the building and dining rooms. Charming, the scent of wood smoke as soon as you get out of your car. Lots of respect for the historic building. read more

Great to get to experience great local bbq, friendly people and great company. Was brought here by our customer to try some of their favorite restaurants and this was not a disappointment. A beautiful drive, incredible country side and super nice people. This place isn't just a bbq place, a pretty Decent bar with good bourbon and beer selections. Wide food menu, if you can't find something that suits you here then you might as well just go to fast food this place has a ton of options. Some of the best smoked wings I've had. Baby back ribs that are nice and tender and saucy. Something I've never had is pork butt burnt ends excellent. Good sides, like pickled beets, and brown sugar baked beans really good place. Service was wonderful. The place was packed but we had timely service. The burnt ends were tasty. The cheese steak was full of meat and tasty and the fries were crispy. The warm potatoes salad was too spicy for us. I really never had a spicy German potato salad Unfortunately the only dish I would not recommend was the chicken pita. It Was definitely dried out chicken. My mistake ordering chicken at a place known for pork and beef. I will say the ribeye at the table next to us looked fabulous. Our servers name was Barbara and she was fabulous!!! She made sure we had everything we needed and gave us prompt service! She also helped me with reservations the day before. Today, Valentine's Day, we had reservations for 12:30 for 7 people. When I got there I had to tell her it changed to 8 people and she said no problem and figured it out. Everything was fine, drinks strong, sides tasty, ambience fine, the problem was the entree. Ordered the prime rib medium rare. Looked good, but wasn't tasty. I couldn't finish it. Took it home, cut it up and made a stew out of it. Hopefully it will be okay then. I'll let you know! read more

Full house! Reservations are a must. Home style smoked menu and Dutch style food. We sat at the bar, happily, with no reservations. Friendly atmosphere other than the singleton at the end of the bar seeking a one night stand Valentine. Our bartender was great, very pleased to find an Irish stout, even in a can. She also made a great Espresso Martini. My farmhouse salad was spot in and my husband is still salivating over the Dutchman meal. read more

Came for our first time to try a new place. We were seated at a table in the bar area of this historic hotel building, which was beautifully restored. We both had drinks then my husband got a salad, which was huge, then he got beef tips while I got their smokehouse meatloaf. We both enjoyed our meals and I took my meatloaf home for 2 more lunches! I did get their apple raisin bread pudding which was wonderful, but also so large that I took most home. We will go back here. Sadly, it is only open for dinners and reservations are needed- but such a special place! And, they have birch beer on tap!! What a treat! If you didn't know what this place was, you'd miss it. I was recommended to this restaurant by a vendor. Went in with a buddy and ordered the smothered tots, which were a great app to share between the two of us. Very heavy on toppings, cooked perfect. He ordered the wings and said they were nice and fresh. He worked in a chicken shop for a few years and is a huge critic of his chicken, so to impress him was surprising. I had the cajun penne alfredo pasta, and it was top notch. We sat at the bar and were heavily taken care of without a hitch. The drinks were great, and it was a nice place to eat and drink after a day of work. We haven't been here in years, yet it was as good as I remembered. We started with wings, old bay style with Cajun ranch and Parmesan peppercorn dipping sauces...DELISH! We then split the pickle brined chicken sandwich which was fantastic, tender and tasty and the prime rib sandwich which was also flavorful. The sides were great too...Mac-n-cheese and coleslaw. My wife and I have been going to the Point Phillips Hotel for bbq for at least ten years and up until about a year ago considered Point Phillips to be 5 star. Over the past year we have noticed that the baby back ribs and brisket tend to be overcooked, dry and burnt. Even the burnt ends, only served on Thursday night are overly dry. There is even less pulled pork in the "Porky Mac and cheese". Practically everything else is excellent, especially the nachos (unbelievably good), wings, bbq chicken, soups, and martinis. It's delicious but they only provide small ramekins of it. There is also a tomato vinegar bbq sauce they offer in ramekins as well. Keeping in mind my wife and I live in the BBQ belt of Texas, I'm always up for trying new BBQ restaurants, regardless of where they might be located. We were in Bethlehem, PA this past August 2nd when the suggestion of eating here for dinner came up. We were assured that the BBQ at Point Phillips was "really good" and that we will not be disappointed. Frankly, being disappointed would have been an improvement. I ordered the brisket plate, and my wife ordered the rib and chicken combo with the idea of us sharing. All cuts of the meat were very dry and over smoked. I sent my plate back, and to their credit, it was removed from the bill. My wife barely ate any of her ribs and chicken, but she managed to power through it. Just discovered this restaurant and couldn't wait to visit this Tuesday in early April, 2022 because even though the dining room was busy, the pleasant hostesses, Becca & Lana, told us we were in luck with a cozy booth back by the bar. Then Libby showed up as our server with her engaging personality and helpful attitude. We ordered bang bang shrimp with sauce on side ($8.99) for appetizer. My entree of Faroe Island Pecan crusted Salmon topped with a sweet sauce was cooked just right but next time will order the sauce on side as it overshadows the delicate flavor of fish. Accompanied by loaded bake potato (up charge of $1.99) and that huge side salad of spring mix, red onion, croutons, cucumbers, grape tomatoes and shredded cheese, topped with their homemade bacon dressing. Oh my! My hubs ordered the half rack ribs, the mixed greens salad with a side serving of that awesome Mac & cheese. Really good. Our first time here was great! Nothing but downhill from there! We returned again 2 times and one in our party ordered the prime rib special, on both occasions it was RAW and so tuff that you couldn't even cut it with a steak knife. The first return visit we thought well maybe they had an off night, but then on our second return it was just as raw and tuff. I mean really it's prime rib! That's it for us-we won't return. I am visiting my girlfriend and we went to dinner here. I thought the food was good. I had the Brisket. We decided to sit at the bar. I was very disappointed in the service. I was honestly confused because the bartender was chatting away with another couple and I literally had to ask her to take our food order, refill our drinks.
