I came across this place as a break from a very long day. I was visiting the animal rescue in the neighborhood and wanted to stop for a quick snack and coffee break. Lovely, small place, but a ton of outdoor seating. There was seating outside, and in front of the cafe. I got a hot chai and my friend got a cappuccino, both satisfied our caffeine cravings and perked us up. We each got a pierogi, and that was a good warm snack to have on a cool summer day. They have wifi, a printer, and seem to be pretty dog friendly. There was dog treats inside and a water bowl outside. Would recommend coming here again for a catch up with a friend or if you just want to get out of the house and read in a cute cafe.

Quaint little coffee shop over on Prospect Avenue providing a nice selection of coffee beverages and tea, also serving pastries, baked goods, snacks, etc. This review is based on my solo order of a cold brew this morning. Their coffee is really pretty good! I like a stronger brew and this was probably a 7 out of 10 on the chart. Customer service was fine - nothing crazy over the top - it was your average interaction... I was literally there for 3 minutes and with a simple order. Sort of tucked away if you're not looking for it - the space is cute and simple. As small as it is, there are two... yes two, separate outdoor spaces - one in front, consisting of a few tables and chairs with two large umbrellas, shading you from the sun should you choose. The other space is located on the side of the coffee shop - semi-enclosed for privacy, just in case you don't want to be front and center on the street. Coffee for your morning commute or arrival at Prospect Park is a no brainer - Poetica is literally half a block away from the F & G trains at the Fort Hamilton Parkway stop. So you can get a decent idea of how long it'd take you to get from Poetica to the entrance of Prospect Park SW (which is approximately a 5 block walk), here are some estimated times: * 17 minutes for the person with 3+ kids in tow * 9 minutes for the regular, NYC pace (even with shorter legs like I have) * 5 minutes for the casual jogger (although with coffee in hand, that might be a bit challenging) * 1 minute arrival time if you believe that anything is possible because well... it's 2020 Oh, and btw... social distancing, hand sanitizer, masks, etc. are in full effect at Poetica. Once the barista rings you up, they'll ask if you'd like to add a tip or not and if so, how much - they'll enter the amount so customers are not touching the iPad. Last but not least, they have punch cards available for frequent customers... and also a second location, (aka the OG Poetica), over on Smith Street. All good things with this new coffee shop in the neighborhood, and I'll be back. Give it a try!

Stopped at Poetica Coffee during a Saturday morning walk. A nice space to enjoy a coffee outside, but look elsewhere for food. Quality: It was a very strong Cold Brew, which is not always my favorite, but I still enjoyed it. I was less impressed by the food we ordered, the Egg & Scallion Pierogi. Pierogi is a terrible name for it because it is not one at all. It is a heavily breaded pastry, and ours was filled with egg salad, scallion, and a whole lot of dill. I would not recommend it. Quantity: Decent sized drink and treat. Value: $5.50 for a Large Cold Brew. $5.50 for Egg & Scallion Pierogi. Ambiance: Poetica Coffee locations always stand out with their bright and welcoming decor. We visited the one in Windsor Terrace, and it has a very spacious outdoor area. This is the ideal coffee shop if you have a dog with you, as there is a primary covered outdoor space and then several more tables with umbrellas in front. Crowd: Very slow flow on a weekend morning. Service: Friendly barista who was quick behind the counter. Parking: Tons of street parking.

Enjoyed a Sunday morning at this lovely cafe... got a cold brew and a turkey pomegranate sandwich- it was very delicious. The small backyard area Is a sweet spot to catch up on some work like I did. I would def come back to try other treats.

    Breakfast!

Adorable cafe with great pastries! The man at the counter is super nice (the red haired person referred to in other reviews doesn't seem to work there anymore) & Poetica's pastries are delish, especially the cinnamon chip scones & almond croissants. (Get there at the right time & the scones are still warm.) I like that you can sit out front, inside, or in their enclosed patio. They also have a printer you can pay to use, a nice resource.

My favorite place in Brooklyn. The place has a varied selection of pastries and drinks. I often find myself having deep conversations with barista Will. Lovely and friendly staff.

Awesome cafe! Sit down. Ask for Andrei. He makes an awesome almond milk latte that I can drink immediately and doesn't burn my tongue.

You must have the Brussels sprouts!! I'd go back for those in a minute! I very much enjoyed my salmon dish. Lovely presentation and preparation but portion a bit small. However, the Brussels sprouts were so generous portion that even after sharing there was "take home" for us. The chocolate mousse was extraordinary! I don't even want to know the calorie count - but worth it!! My one negative was the chill of the Cabernet Yes, I know that's the trend but personally I prefer room temp especially in cold weather The restaurant owner was gracious, staff actually charming and accommodating We are recommending this place to family and friends and plan to return especially when going to BAM ENJOY!!

Walked in and was able to get a seat without reservation, but it definitely filled up by 6/7 pm. The place is dimly lit and the tables are quite small. For the food, we got their Brussel sprouts, shrimp, salmon entree and chicken entree. Our favorite were definitely the shrimp. But everything else when eaten together tasted a bit too greasy and felt monotonous in terms of flavor. Brussel sprouts were fried and held to a decent amount of oil, then the addition of tahini made it even more oily. Pan chicken we expected whole pieces of chicken but it was more like a thin chicken cutlet. The salmon came with a cauliflower puree which tasted so rich (with butter), but I couldn't finish it bc it was so rich.

People have left some odd reviews of this place, including a one-star review for the restaurant…read moreapparently being highly politicized--a vibe I neither felt nor could visually identify within or without the establishment. I ordered a single burger and a Sudan spiced peanut butter latte, for ~$15! That's pretty inexpensive for New York City. I note this as some consider it overpriced. I suppose the food is fairly inexpensive, the lattes slightly higher than average. The "burger" comes wrapped in a homemade pita with diced cucumber, onion, and tomato, plus a few crispy, thick-cut fries and a yummy house sauce. It was a cool twist of the traditional burger and had a nice flavor. The sauce was like a slightly Mediterranean version of Big Mac sauce. The girl working as the barista and cashier was very nice and friendly. She had a nice presence and warm smile, made suggestions, and even gave a stranger free utensils when they popped on to ask. I think it's definitely worth checking out, and it's a good place for a cheap & simple meal that's still quirky and fun.

Perhaps I should have anticipated that, or my mistake in ordering. I also ordered a Moroccan egg salad sandwich which was substantive but surprisingly bland--sparse with the advertised capers and pickled red onions to give it more punch. I've always loved the look of the spot and the vibe--funky decor, outside and indoor facing counters to order, with some outdoor seating for people watching on Dekalb or heading nearby Ft. Greene Park. I see they are renovating and rebranding a bit and adding some burger component. While I didn't love it, I'd definitely give it another shot.
