I called PODS and told them we were going to be moving from Utah to Washington but weren't sure exactly when or where. They required a zip code of where we were moving to and said it could easily be changed. The zip code I gave them was in Southern Washington since that was a possible destination. They said when we moved they would send our pods to Oregon which was the closest facility. I reiterated that there was no guarantee we would be moving there and I was assured it wouldn't be an issue. When I called and told them we would be moving near Seattle they said they would send the pods out. I explained my situation and they assured me it wouldn't be a problem. After we purchased our home I called to schedule delivery of the PODS. I was told that I couldn't have them delivered when I wanted because they needed to be shipped up from Oregon. I have absolutely no idea why they were sent there since I was promised it would be no problem to update my final destination. And then, to top it all off, we had to pay over $1000 to get them sent to Washington, where they should have been sent in the first place! I filed a complaint with PODS and, after submitting all the info they requested, I was promised that it would be looked into. After numerous unreturned phone calls and emails, I finally received an email saying that after listening to the recorded phone conversations, I never told them that the final destination had changed. I requested a copy of the recorded calls but that email was also ignored. There is Ansley no way that I didn't tell them that we had changed our final destination. I will NEVER use or recommend this company to anyone. They screwed us over hard and there was absolutely nothing we could do about it. read more

DO NOT USE PODS. This is one of the worst businesses I've ever worked with. Please check the BBB site and other reviews before you consider using PODs. They used to have an F rating but now they're not even accredited with BBB. They never said they couldn't drop the pod on the street. The driver showed up, was rude, then left. I had to reschedule the moving labor. PODs then charged me an additional $80 to drop and pick up in the same day. Wait times for customer service are ~30min and up to an hour. The POD measurements are from the outside. This amounts to 120 sq ft less than what they advertise. It's taken 3 months for them to finally get back to me on my dispute only for them to tell me they aren't going to do anything to correct the issues we had. The drop off driver was late, didn't call, and refused to drop it where I asked them to (huge wide-open concrete pad). read more

I used PODS for a small local move. The driver, Lindell, was excellent with the delivery and with the pickup a few months later. He was friendly, professional, polite, and on time. He had an awesome command of the equipment and placed the POD exactly where I wanted it to be, then picked it up with the same efficiency! US Service Members Beware: I am a US military service member and got 2 year overseas orders. We had Pods pick up our stuff in SC and it was stored there as well. We paid $490 a month. Upon return to the states they are charging us an additional $1500 to move the pod from SC to NC. Nowhere in the contract communicates that it will cost that much to move it, only that some long distance delivery fees will apply. I could imagine if we were moving to CA or TX. When talking to customer service they blamed me for not know where I was going after my overseas orders had been completed and said there was nothing they could do. I was charged significantly more than my quote without ever being notified of additional charges. I was not aware of this until my payment was process for larger than I confirmed my order for. When I spoke with Customer Service about this, they did not care if I had screenshots and documents confirming my original quote. I was just told there was "nothing they could do". And when I asked for an explanation for why the numbers were different, I was hung up on. Unfortunately, it was too close to my move to go for a different option. I made a Yelp account to write positive reviews and offset small business' unfair negative reviews. This is the first negative review I've ever posted, but it needs to be done because I don't know how else to get their attention. PODs doesn't reply otherwise. PODs messed up my pickup time and ended up leaving my stuff on the street for several days to collect parking tickets (my parking permit was only for a couple days). I have spoken to support 5-6 times now and spent hours on the phone/writing emails. My stuff is not here. I have not received compensation and one of the support reps had the audacity to suggest I just live on a sleeping bag. I've submitted claims and not heard back. My stuff was finally supposed to be delivered tomorrow and I just got a call from PODs. My delivery has been delayed once again. No, they have not provided compensation. I am in an empty house. I wish I used uhaul or something and drove my stuff myself. Do not use. read more

The day of delivery as the driver is in route he calls and informs me they cannot deliver without an additional city service fee of $500 due to city regulations. PODS is an absolutely terrible service. So many things went wrong that I will have to put out double the budgeted time & money to successfully move. The gross incompetence of all of the employees at every level is almost comical. Like most companies, after this company had been sold, each division had been contracted out. Meaning corporate is not associated with customer service, who is also not associated with contracted driving companies, who are not associated with drivers, who are not associated with storage companies, who are not associated with their workers. NO ON IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING! And, they cannot communicate with ANYONE. When there is a problem, as there will be whenever logistics is the goal, YOU CANNOT REACH ANYONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. So, in my case, the drivers did not have all of the ticket information so they went to the wrong house in the right neighborhood. They said they called, texted and emailed - they did not. I can verify that they did not reach out to the name on the ticket. However, the person who is supposed to receive delivery of the pod saw that they were at the wrong house ran outside and tried to fix the problem. The drivers refused to listen to that person and deliver the pod in the proper location. Probably because I'm sure most people would love to just steal a pod it's so attractive sitting in your driveway ;) But the worst part is that when they filled out the reason why they could not finish the delivery - THEY LIED! I do not believe they lied because it was a character flaw. I believe they lied because they only have two options to stipulate why a delivery was unsuccessful. I'm sure they only get paid if it was the delivery locations fault So they lied to make sure they get paid. So obviously being the person that paid for the service I reached out to the company. What a fiasco. Nobody can communicate with anybody and they cannot send emails out to clients from the mainframe so I could not even have them correct the reason why the delivery did not happen. No one has any ability to communicate with another department or another service provider. And, they're 100% incapable of providing good customer service or solutions. This is why farming out pieces of your company is a bad idea. You're going to tank and you're not even going to understand why. This cost me double in time and money and triple in aggravation. Not only did I had to try to deal with this issue, but I had to really very quickly and figure out a way to move - without my budget because it will take PODS 15 days to "review the issue" before they consider a refund. TL;DR - PODS has awful customer service and don't expect to receive your POD when they say. Ours is delayed 10days and counting. We decided to use them based on their "good reviews". However, when you check the websites where they receive ~4 star reviews, those websites don't have a place for people to provide their own reviews. I'm pretty sure PODS bought those good reviews. On ConsumerAffairs.org where PODS has 4/5 stars it says, "ConsumerAffairs is not a government agency and may be compensated by companies displayed." Pretty much sums it up. Everywhere else with real reviews has been a different (terrible) story. Go read them for yourself and make sure there's a place folks can post their own reviews!!!!! Onto my situation... They seemed really competent when we got our quote and booking set, but everything went downhill from there quick. Shortly after booking I called to change the initial drop off date, and received a confirmation email with the new date. However the POD arrived on the original date. Turns out the they just submitted a "quote" to change the date and never actually booked it. FAIL. Then 24h before our delivery date at the new home we were informed it would be delayed 10days! I've tried calling customer service numerous times and get told someone from the "customer advocacy department" will call back which has yet to happen and its been 6 days. It doesn't seem like they're really my advocate if they won't call back and work for PODs. Their customer service team is trained to give people the run around and get them off the line rather than actually help them. Don't believe their BS if they tell you there are no supervisors available. They're there, just need to twist their arm to get to talk to one. In summary, I still don't have our POD. It's been 100+ temps with the heatwave in the northwest, all our fans are in the POD and have been unable to buy fans anywhere including Craigslist. We won't have it for another 5 days IF they actually deliver when they say they will. read more

I requested a quote online. Instead of a quote, they sent me an email asking me to call them. That is not what people want when they request a quote online, PODs. If I wanted to call I would call. So I called. They gave me a quote that was more than twice the value of the items I am shipping. They tried to pressure me into accepting the quote on the spot. I refused and went to U-Haul. I got a quote online, without calling, for less than 1/3rd what PODS wanted to charge me. Since then, I receive daily spam emails from PODs and their associates. Inconvenient service, pressure sales, terrible pricing. How does PODs stay in business? Fools and their money... Don't be the fool. Don't call PODs. Despite reviews I decided to trust them. BIGGEST MISTAKE! I thought if I plan in advance and learn mistakes people had, I will be different and will get the desired service. How WRONG I was. This company tries to be modern and tech. They succeed and neither. They work as an old legacy machine, when no one can help and you get transferred from one department to another. Here is my story. On my existing reservation that I made two months ago I asked them do add container delivery service (planned to bring our stuff to their location in the first place). Michael, the representative, (oh, I will remember for a long time) said: "I'm having some technical difficulties, let me create new reservation and cancel the old one... It's ready". Once I opened new reservation he created I was shocked: prices doubled. I asked: "why?". He said: "prices change every day". Neither he had my consent to cancel my old order, nor informed me about this dramatic price change. When I asked how to return it back to normal, he dropped the phone. I tried to call back - it's been already after hours and no one was available. Next time I called they said special department will handle it within 48-72 hours. That department really called me back to say some other department will handle it within 3 business day. It's been a week after that call... I'm so mad I trusted them and they can't handle their own mistakes in the respectful manner. NEVER EVER I'm going to use them. read more

The bad news: Customer service failed to fully explain the pricing/cost. Was provided conflicting information on the total cost of the POD rental over 3 conversations. While trying to speak to a manager on the phone I waited on hold for 48 minutes and the customer service (oversees) came back to let me know that no one in a managerial level was available. Called again yesterday and was advised that they would review the information and provide a response via email. Received a letter today saying that I could not be refunded based on all the discrepancies in the cost. What's disappointing is that no one in management took the time to speak over the phone regarding the pricing disparities. The Good Nee: I will say the delivery and pick went very smooth. The POD rental itself was clean overall however the lock area was rusted and it was difficult to shift the lever to place that lock. Bottom Line; When you are not consistent with the pricing, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Thus, I would never use them again. There are certainly lots of other rental companies to chose from. PODS is a fraud. Preparing to move I ordered a POD and filled it up. When I bought my house about 5 months later and called for a delivery I was told, multiple times, that they did not deliver to my new town. My house is right off a major freeway and on the main street with super easy access, in fact, when I finally had to contract with a moving company to empty my POD and load it onto a full sized moving van, along with two other clients, they had no problems getting it here at all. This was after offering to send a flatbed truck to get it, and asking if I could actually buy the POD. They would just not work with me at all. It was horrible costing me almost $4000 to fix the problem as I am a senior and I did not want to rent a truck and to the transfer loading, driving approx. 12 hours total, and unloading myself. "Don't go with PODS" - I heard that a few times before planning my cross country move, but ignored it because we were trying to save money. How I wish I hadn't. I can not tell you how rude, how apathetic, how incompetent the people at this company have been. But the bottom line is they cannot and do not perform the service they sell you. Despite incredibly detailed and careful planning on our part, leaving large amounts of "wiggle room" time, they are not delivering on the date they told us to choose and that we paid them for. I know my husband and I will be ok, but we have a 9 month old baby and a 3 1/2 year old whose lives are going to be hell for the next week because of PODS. AVOID! This is one of many sites that rates PODS incredibly low. This is purely in the booking process. I've looked at many different places for quotes, and found that PODS was the better solution for what we needed and was the cheapest option as well. When I called the first time, I got a sweet woman named Jennifer who helped me figure out my options and informed me of the summer sale. I told her I'll be calling back tomorrow once I've looked at more places, and she was very understanding. Unfortunately, I didn't get her sales contact extension, and just called back the PODS number again. I had one more question about the process. (I was never informed as to how many days of travel it will take the PODS to get to the new location.) I got a new guy who answered my question, and the phone call was horrible. - He interrupted almost every sentence I spoke. - I was PREPARING to book with PODS (straight up getting my credit card out) when I asked if I could just call him back soon. My husband and I had been looking at 4 different places and I simply wanted to tell my husband I was making a decision before putting money down. He was super unhappy about that, saying the dates I wanted are going to go fast. - I assured him I only need 10 minutes max to tell my husband the final cost before making the decision without him. He badgered me to put down the money then and there until finally said "Alright fine." - I was in the middle of saying "oh could I get your extension so I can make sure I'm calling you back?" and he HUNG UP ON ME MID SENTENCE. I was fuming. He couldn't wait 10 minutes for my sale and thank God because I ended up going with Zippyshell instead, who matched my price, INCLUDING taxes, so I ended up getting a better deal since PODS has a ton of hidden fees. Would not recommend. I called to get a quote, the sales rep was very eager to get my credit card information even though I shared that we didn't have a final destination. Then quickly went through signing us up letting me know that I had to listen to a recording that they would need to play. When I called to get the pods picked up they said that they couldn't come for seven days and our pods wouldn't be delivered for 7-10 days. The only communication they give is via email unless you are calling them. When I called to see if anything could be done to speed up our pick up and delivery. I was told that their policy's are read to the costumer on their recording and I should have known. I had an agent even hang up on me. They said that they would put in a case to expedite our shipping and they were hopeful it would be tomorrow. I had to physically call them to keep tabs and by the third time they said well if the request wasn't approved within 48 hours and you didn't receive an email then consider it unapproved. So- no communication stating they couldn't help to expedite the process and it was on me to continue to keep calling them. So essentially during a move across country, spending thousands of dollars, moving my family including small children their response is sorry you should have listened to the recording and am having to call them to be on a phone call for 30 minutes at a time. They even submitted a request to compensate me back for not having our stuff for over 2 weeks which I got an email back saying sorry denied. We paid thousands of dollars for plane tickets, permits, took pto, bought an air bnb, to get help moving in all for them to say sorry not our problem.. Needless to say- terrible experience, zero customer service and empathy, rude "agents", and overpriced for the questionable service they provide. I recommend using uhal. read more

I finally decided to cancel because of the way I was treated. The only reason I canceled was because how the rep treated me on my 2nd call to PODS. I do not recommend. Very poor experience. I ordered a pod about a year ago for a move from NY to Florida. I was advised the pod would stay in NY until I scheduled delivery. Perfect, since I wasn't sure if I would stay in Florida. Moved back to NY and called to schedule delivery to be told my Pod was in Florida and delivery wouldn't be for at least a month and there would be more than $3000 in transportation fees. Hi: Just wanted to let everyone know the Pod's insurance policy and how it works. I recently rented a pods 16' container for my move from Orange County , CA. to Las Vegas. I took out $25,000 in pods insurance just for possible theft or damages to my possessions. My container arrived in Las Vegas and the driver helped open the back door as the very last items towards the door shifted a little bit. The driver looked into my container for maybe 30 seconds or so. When i unloaded it I noticed my furniture had chips and scrapes in certain pieces. I used moving blankets and two Stanley rachet straps to hold to hold the furniture in from shifting. i used up approximately the first 6' of the container for my furniture and 10' of boxes and items were stacked in back of my furniture. The adjuster said his driver said my load shifted but what the driver did not know as it's impossible to see through 10' of boxes and things as my furniture had 2 Stanley straps hooked to the D rings of the pods container at mid level and the adjuster just said its my fault and I never received a penny for the damages to my $10000 Cherrywood furniture bedroom set. If pods doesn't pack the pod they don't care about damage. If you purchase insurance please BE AWARE of how pods looks at thing's they are very sneaky and will wiggle out of paying unless you have them pack your pod for a lot more money. Got our POD in June, my mom paid it in July, not until October we get a email saying our POD is being auctioned in December if we don't pay 3,000.00, I checked my moms email, no email from PODS saying they were trying to get in contact with us at ALL. We had moved to our new home around the end of October. my mom had paid some of the money, but they had raised it to 4,000.00. Then as we had the money to pay for the POD in November, they moved the auction date from December to November before thanksgiving, scrambled to pay off our POD. then saying we had to pay a fee to bring the POD to us when my mom spoke to someone saying there was no fee. Heed my warning. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. In all my [over 60] years I have never experienced such horrendous service, ineptitude, and thievery. * Tried to deliver when scheduled to pick up. Tried to pick up when scheduled to deliver. * Attempted to charge different than quoted. Attempted to increase monthly charge, and without notice. * Out of nowhere we would see charges for non-requested insurances, miscellaneous fees, or other unknown and even stupid services. * Literally spent hours on the phone to get explanation and reversal of charges. Each time I asked about even one charge it would take the representative 20 minutes to figure out what the charge was for. * Could not get a corrective action or request any sort of service online because my account had a system 'glitch' that was NEVER corrected. So, I had to call for any question or service request. * If a representative was unable to identify or address an issue, a ticket number to escalate the matter would be issued with a promise of response within 24 to 48 hours. I received only 1 response out of 6 tickets. * Received 3 different business hours in which we could schedule the self-empty of our containers. This is rather important when hiring a moving firm to pick-up your contents! I could continue, but I think you get the picture. read more

Awful! First pod arrived was is a piece of crap (leaked). Ordered a second pod and drive stated the first pod was not for interstate travel, but the second pod was the correct one. The billing is all messed up. I am billed for two pods, two out of state travel voucher miles, two delivery charges. I have called pods 9 times. My claim has not been assigned a manager yet. PODS sounded like a no-brainer option for our move, BUT this is what you should know prior to doing business with them: 1) You can't simply tell them to deliver and pick up the days you request. 2) They charge you for the time that they delay in picking up your POD. (Mine sat for 2-1/2 weeks on the street before they were able to pick up and move to my new location. Kinda sucks when you need the things that are packed inside) 3) You WILL be hostage to their schedule and payment draws from your accounts are automatic and no one seems to have the ability to reverse charges immediately, if at all. read more
