    Vegetable Bimbap
    Anna Marie P.

My husband stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, and we were surprised to have not heard of it, being that we live close by. Speaking with the gentlemen working, they just opened in August. We stopped in and were seated immediately. The restaurant has a unique ambiance with a very chrome forward feel. At first, i was a bit lost in the sauce with the menu as there were no pictures or explanations of many of the menu items. Our waiter, however, was fantastic and answered all questions that we had and was extremely pleasant and attentive during our whole meal. We enjoyed the beef bulgogi most, which we were able to cook at our table (you can also have it cooked in the kitchen if you'd prefer). The spicy chicken entree, while delicious, is not for the faint of heart. As someone who enjoys spicy food, this was probably as spicy as I could enjoy. The fried dumplings were also great, and the vegetable bimbap was a perfect accompanyment to our meal. I'm looking forward to returning again soon and trying some of their other offerrings!

I recently visited Pocha K-BBQ and try there tofu seafood soup and pork bone soup the meal came with generous selection banchan. Each dish was a great complement to the main course, with flavors ranging from mildly sweet and spicy. The food was exceptional and reasonable price. The staff was friendly. The restaurant decor was different from other restaurants. I'd definitely recommend to anyone.

This was the second visit to Pocha K-BBQ. Since I was alone this time I didn't order a BBQ dish, instead ordered a hot stone bowl and a seafood pancake. I was the only patron in the restaurant on a cold night. This restaurant replaced a traditional Korean restaurant a couple of years ago, making to new decor very young and modern. Note that there are low backless mini stools to sit on at bright shiny round bbq tables. The food came out at the same time, but I was ok with that. The stone bowl was probably the hottest I have had at a Korean restaurant, so I needed to keep stirring to avoid charred rice. I do like some of the rice crunchy but it required some more attention than I customarily needed. The food was well prepared. As for beverages, there was a choice of soju, sodas and water, noting that there aren't any hot beverages available. I was offered hot water though when I inquired. The service was friendly with only one person in front. I will visit again with a few friends.

Different kind of Korean bbq you can cook fmyour own food on a hot stone or they will cook it for you. The server was extremely nice and answered a bunch of questions about the menu and the restaurant for my wife and I. The restaurant has a very sleek kind of look, lots of metal/chrome and metal/reusable chop sticks, which i thought was interesting. All in all, very nice food was good and we will definitely be by for more.

None of the food was that bad, but none of the food was actually good either. Everything tasted like okay bbq take out from a grocery store. Some of it I honestly suspect really was just from a grocery store. The person I went with said their baked beans were very obviously microwaved and there wasn't any sign that the smoker had been used that day. Maybe they woke up early and cooked all their meats before lunchtime, but there was no smoke or smell or any sign that anything had been cooked recently. And the ribs were pretty tough which would mean they either weren't slow cooked/smoked or weren't cooked for nearly long enough. I don't often leave negative reviews, but the price really put me over the edge on this place. $20 or more for a platter. When you get a ribs platter you assume it's a half rack of ribs, but it was only three ribs. Some of the best and most generous homemade food I've ever had is $15 or less in and around Philly. I just can't imagine the justification for their prices when their portions feel more like a sample platter. The baked beans came in a little ramekin the size of a dixie cup. It feels like they have a captive audience because they're inside of an apartment complex. The convenience for the residence probably get's them a lot of business so they can get away with up charging. I really hope they're smoking and slow cooking their food, but I don't know nothing about my experience made it seem that way.

We got the dolsot bibimbap that came out on a sizzling hot plate and the bulgolgi clay pot which had a delicious broth with clear sweet potato noodles (the kind japjae is made of). Pretty damned impressive for an otherwise fairly dated space. I went with two favorites; hot dog (Blitzkrieg Bop Dog) and Pierogi (Let's Polka), both of which were enjoyable and very tasty. The Blitz was full of sauerkraut and spicy mustard (ketchup added at the counter). Split and grilled, its only weakness was a broken roll that wasn't quite up to the challenge of holding everything together. Still, I liked it to the last bite. The potato cheddar dough pockets were deep fried and covered in sautéed sweet onion and crisp bacon pieces. Housemade creamy onion dip really added a special effect when it interacted with everything in my mouth. Quite the oral dance party. Delicious. The list of local bands playing at High Steaks was impressive. Definitely added a great sixties feel to the joint. This place is special. Five by five all the way.
