I originally place my order for a 12 o'clock pick up. When I arrived, I see an email that said that my order would not be ready until 1215. So I waited around and then when I returned, no one was answering the phone. When I finally got an answer, the person hung up on me. Someone pulled up next to me and they had called and someone brought their food out, I rolled down my window to try and get some help, and the person just walked past me and pretended not to hear. I gave a call again, and a woman answered the phone and said that I would have to come inside and pick up my order. By this time I am already very late for work. The service was some of the worse we have had at any establishment in a long time. Took a long time to take the order and never came back after the food was served. On our plate, that is! The staff is all customer service and all hands on deck. The host/hostess who seats you, might bring you a Coke, or bus your table. All quickly done, I might add. They bring over chips and salsa, ask you for your drink order and you get to work reading over all the choices...whether you are craving guacamole, or molcajete, or even a tamal, they've got it! Upon entering Poblanos the first I was curious about was if this place was breaking child labor laws as a kid no older than 13 sat me at my table and gave me a menu. He did a good job and it is nice to see the young ones get involved because I know I was working at that age. Now on to the review. Whenever I am in Evans I usually go to the Poblanos near the Evans Towne Center. I wish I I kept to my old ways. Despite being the same restaurant the food was better and more abundant at the Towne Center location. I ordered the nachos with beef and it was good as it's flavor was consistent with many Mexican restaurants. I went with the California burrito and it was covered in a green salsa verde and a habenero sauce. The size was pretty good but much of the flavor of the steak and chicken was lost as it was overpowered by the sauces. Complimentary chips and salsa came to the table but the chips tasted old and stale. After a few bites of the first one I decided not to continue in allowing this to please my palette. I was let down by this particular Pablanos and I will stick to my previous experience of the other Pablanos. read more

I'm new to the area I didn't check Yelp before stopping by this spot. I ordered take out so the service I received was quick and efficient as well as friendly. This is why it pains me to write a negative review . Simply put the food just wasn't good, period. I ordered the veggie fajita and my husband got the mixed grill fajita. My veggies were cooked to mush and didn't have ANY flavor. Same can be said of the salsa. It was like red water. That was the most perplexing part of the meal. I've NEVER had salsa that wasn't at the very least decent. The guacamole had more flavor than the salsa but was still worse than supermarket guac. Maybe this is a spot for drinks? I'm definitely a fan of this Poblano's location. The owner is friendly, he and my dad have struck up a rapport, therefore he is always friendly to me as well. The waitstaff is about as attentive as you can expect from any restaurant- sometimes there are SUPER good servers, sometimes there are mediocre servers. Very rarely do we have outright poor service here. The food never seems like it has been sitting around waiting on someone to order it, it always appears reasonably quickly and hot. Good portion sizes and prices I can definitely live with, especially at lunch when they are downright cheap! This is what I think of when I think that I want "Mexican food" in this area. read more

This place is close to home so it's often convenient. There is one waiter who is rude and overcharges for items. It has happened before and I just let it go, but this last visit, he only brought me the copy of the bill that was not itemized. When I questioned him about it, he got even more rude and snatched the ticket out of my hand, said something in Spanish, brought back the itemized ticket, then only to disappear. Several people had something wrong with their food or drink order and this led to a bit of complaining. All these issues were remedied right away, but if our server had help it may not have happened at all. My meal was wrong in every detail. I didn't bother to complain to them because you can't complain about slop that is cheap and what the masses want. The menu was very big but the selection was missing that description "containing.....". The non english waiter kept appearing every 30 seconds asking if I was ready to order. I did end up being mildly impressed with our food and our waiter (Jose?) was extremely friendly and helpful (he seemed to be the only one working though, the other waiters / waitresses didn't seem to be doing anything at all). The chips and salsa were GREAT! The carnitas tacos I had and the cheese steak burrito my husband had were also good. That said, I wouldn't say the food had a very "authentic" Mexican-food flavor or feel, it was more Tex-Mex / Southwestern. My only complaint is the rest of the waitstaff doesn't seem very detail-oriented. I had to flag someone down to find me a highchair and I had to get up and ask for my check when I was ready to go. The only thing worse than the food is the customer service. I have been coming here, off an on, dine in and take out, for two years. They have NEVER gotten the order right. Not once! Tonight I ordered the super burrito with chicken. My wife ordered the chimichanga with sour cream for pick up. We live one mile from the restaurant and my wife had to wait for the order to be completed, so it shoud be hot right? The food is cold, my chicken burrito has more beef than chicken in it and there is no sour cream on her chimichanga. So I call to speak with the manager, it's Sunday night. They tell me there is no manager there and will not be until Tuesday. WHAT?! No manager there? Until Tuesday? This is the kind of service we get at this location every time we break down and go there. Never again. read more

I've been on the lookout for good Mexican food in Augusta for awhile and thought I would never find it but then I tried Poblanos! While it isn't as good as Mexican food in California it is the best I've had on the east coast in a long time and pretty cheap. We had the guacamole that they make fresh at your table which was really good. Be aware though it isn't smooth like normal guacamole, it's more like chopped avocado but it was still a nice appetizer to have with our pitcher of strawberry margaritas! For dinner we had a huge chicken and steak burrito, carne asana tacos and shredded beef taquitos. While I wasn't very fond of the carne asada tacos (I think it's the wrong cut of meat and it is served in a flour tortilla with no other toppings such as cilantro or onions), the taquitos and burrito were very good. Went there for lunch. I ordered a combo with beef tacos and enchilada, the wife ordered a steak fajita. We also got a small nacho supreme, or whatever it's called with the meat and guacamole. Prices are very cheap. At first I didn't think it was too terrible. I wasn't going there for top-of-the-line authentic Mexican cuisine, but I expected "On the Border" quality at least. As we continued eating, the food became increasingly disgusting. Eventually we just stopped eating and went home feeling incredibly disgusting. The food didn't make us ill, but we felt awful afterwards. The service was also questionable. Our server was attentive and the food came out very quickly, but he mumbled every word he said at a very low volume so that we had to have him repeat himself and decipher his whisper-speech. Later that night as we drove past it, we saw that the parking lot was full. Considering we just moved to the area, I guess this place is pretty established with the residents. My advice? If you're new, avoid it. There are a million Moe's and other places you can try getting pseduo-Mexican. read more

We have been here numerous times, it was always hit or miss. The food was usually good, but often took a while as the staff always disappears up to 10 mins at a time. On a good night it's 3 star at best but the last two times we went took 5 mins to get drinks, then 15 mins later we left without talking to another member of the wait staff. Never even ordered food and we were one of only 3 other 2-3 person groups in the entire restaurant. Don't bother with this place, we won't be going back again. Had dinner here tonight and wasn't really impressed. My fajitas didn't come with lettuce, sour cream or any of the fixings that were stated on the menu. They forgot my enchilada but gave me a free one when I brought it up. I wasn't a fan of the watery sauce and overcooked beef. The shrimp tasted really good but the rice and beans really didn't have flavor. I may come back for just drinks at the bar if I give this place another chance. They don't have any order or a proper procedure when it comes to who had what tables. When we finally got the drinks, we had a dedicated server. He was very polite; however, he dropped off one of our friends dishes 15 minutes before the rest of the food came out. She waited to eat because she didn't want to be rude; thereafter, she feared her food would become cold. The rest of our food was finally brought out. The server never asked us how we were doing, or how everything was. We had to ask for the bill since he disappeared for awhile. I recommend the food, but don't expect the best customer service. If I could leave zero stars I would.... We've lived near this location for three years and have been here a total of 4 times. Sad that I can recall each individual time, but it's because of the arrogance and lack of professionalism this staff shows. My husband purchased SIX (should be charged as 3 for $5 per the menu) soft tacos, a Negro Medello (beer), and a cheese dip with chips all totaling $37 (?!). Complete waste of energy returning to this place as the person at the counter lied to my husband stating he ordered eight tacos and therefore INSISTED he pay for them. At this point I'd like to point out that this person is lucky my husband is a patient man and decided to take the high road by paying and leaving. I'm not sure why this place is even still open. I'd much rather head down Washington Road to El Patron where you can find much more AUTHENTIC Mexican food instead of the imitation dog mess they serve at Poblanos. I am Brazilian and I love Mexican food (once we don't have Brazilian restaurants in Augusta). I went to Poblanos with my husband for the first time (we were starving!!!) and we had a great, Great time!!! Our drinks (waters and sweet tea) came in less than a minute! We ordered one of the specials and carne asada and it came in about 10 minutes!!! All the dishes were great in taste, presentation and portion. I do not know if the fast service was because we went there in a slow time but we had a great experience and, for sure, we will come back there. read more

The only way I could tell that there was food in my mouth was because of the texture. I last ate here about 2 years ago. I remembered that it wasn't as good that visit, as it had been during earlier visits. But, I had a coupon and my daughter wanted it again. I ordered the fajitas mojohja. Not sure of the spelling. It is bacon, shrimp beef chicken and veggies and pineapple. Awesomely delicious when I had it a few years ago at the Evans ga. Location. I called my wife and asked her if she wanted me to bring her some. She informed me it was disgusting last time. Well, I tried it anyway. First thing i noticed, it was half the size of the one i ordered a few years ago. Also it was not in the hot stone bowl it is traditionally served in. It was in an iron bowl, and was not hot enough. After a few bites I realized the beef in the fajitas was turning bad, and had a rancid flavor. There was so much other stuff in the dish it partially hid it, but a couple of bites in, my body told me not to consume any more. I sent it back, and ordered cheese dip and chips. The waiter forgot the chips. The cheese dip was straight melted cheese. Bland, cheap and no attempt to flavor it. I am back home now; hoping I don't get food poisoning. read more
