The food was a strong 6/10 with the drinks rating about the same. I had the mixed fajitas with two house margaritas. I will say, I did like the salsa that came with the chips but that's about it. The thing that threw me off was that the server didn't seem as if she wanted to serve us - and I try to be very gracious and I know that food service these days can be tough. Inside of Lexington market, there is easily 20 food vendors in there and we chose Charro Negro because the food smelled SO good. Pictures don't lie; everything was absolutely amazing, seasoned well, FRESH and the best part? Fairly priced! The homemade salsas were outstanding and the guac was perfect (which is rare but I'm also biased due to my Latin background). I ordered the Al pastor tacos and my husband ordered the quesabirria and both were incredible. Everything was ready under 10 minutes! We will definitely be back next time we're in Baltimore :)

Don't let the outside deceive you. Once you walk in you'll smell the fresh cilantro and chile. It took a bit to translate the menu, but you'll figure it out. There are plenty of options. The server helped us figure it out and we were set. I ordered the El pastor tacos, beans & rice, and tortilla chips. The tacos were theeee best! What I loved the most is that the corn tortillas didn't fall apart!!! I hate it when I go to eat a taco and it falls apart. They cooked the tortillas enough so they held up, but were still soft. Did I already say how good the tacos were?! Along with the meat is cilantro, some onions, and you can top it with some green chili sauce. Sooooo good! The pico de Gallo was some of the best I've ever had. I know what you're thinking. How could you go wrong with pico de Gallo? Yeah, I wonder the same thing, but this pico was FRESH with just the right ratio of tomato, onion, cilantro, etc. Next time I'll order two of them. The chips are restaurant-made. That was our first indicator that the food was going to be ALL that we hoped it would be. AND it was. The beans were pinto beans. Memories from home and the ultimate comfort food. The were cooked perfectly with just enough seasoning. The rice was perfectly cooked too. This is the taco spot you need to try.

We started out our meal with incredible table side- style guacamole served in amazing rustic molcajete salsa -style bowl. Following our special instructions the kitchen beautifully customized by holding jalapeño and mixing in fresh tomatoes and onions. It was incredibly fresh and crisp and paired perfectly with complimentary crunchy tortilla chips. The house salsa had to much kick for our personal preference, so we'll know to ask for milder version next time, but the guacamole was the star of the appetizers. For the main course, we shared a single order of beef fajitas with two extra side tortillas. It was the perfect strategy - the portion side was incredibly generous, leaving us completely full with plenty of delicious leftovers to take home. We washed everything down with pitcher of Negro Modelo $10.00 ( perfect sizing for sharing for two 32 ounce large pours ), which paired well with fajitas. Excellent good, accommodating service, and wonderful dinner for two. We will definitely be back.

The restaurant was pretty good as I recall but not terribly memorable either. My current girlfriend & I visited just this past Saturday, September 5, 2026. We were in the neighborhood. We were discussing what to eat, and she mentioned Mexican. I said I could go for Mexican, and I said Toro Bravo is basically walking distance from where we were deciding on dinner. I got just enchiladas a la carte and my girlfriend would have the pick two items, which comes with beans & rice. I was going to eat the majority of the sides as she didn't want much of that. Service was pretty efficient. It didn't take that long for a server to come around to take our order. And we were surprised how quickly the food came out; I didn't time it, but I think it was less than 10 minutes. I had ordered black beans over refried beans. I ate like 3 bites of the black beans, and I told my girlfriend try the black beans and tell me your thoughts. She said these didn't taste good. I said yeah my feeling, too salty. As a matter of fact, these were the worst black beans I've ever had in my entire life. Server was just sitting at the bar; granted they were pretty slow in the restaurant. We flagged someone over who got her attention. She came around. I politely said the black beans were terrible, too salty, please take them back. We will do the refried beans instead. They quickly got us the refried beans. They weren't what refried beans are supposed to be, which is a thick texture, which takes a bit of force to use your fork. These refried beans, were very runny liquid instead of thick solid. I will say that the refried beans didn't taste bad and far superior to the disgusting black beans. But these were still pretty pathetic. As for the rice, it was pretty good. The enchiladas were solid. I've certainly had better enchiladas, but these were good. After we were done eating, the server came back with our bill. Later that night, my girlfriend made an interesting point I didn't think about at the restaurant. The server didn't ask if wanted any dessert, water refill, or anything else. I was done with my water, but I was ok and would've spoken up if I had wanted more water. But it was like she wanted us to get out of there simply presenting the bill. My girlfriend paid for this meal and asked my opinion on the tip, which I said whatever dollar amount like $5 or whatever, which was roughly 18%. I didn't think she was terribly friendly, but was efficient but also never offered water refill during the meal. But the more I thought about it, we were disrespected at the end with her simply slapping the bill down, and I said we should tipped lower. Maybe like $3 (closer to like 12%) instead of like $5. In summary, we probably wouldn't go back here again even though the enchilada was good. My girlfriend did say the quesadilla was strong. They'd have to improve their beans. I'd do a pick two with quesadilla & maybe enchilada.

With every small business, I wish them well -- but after my first and likely only visit, I'm just not sure how long they will last. The food space they are competing in is tough and crowded with both tried and true nearby, Qdoba and Chipotle, as well as Highlandtown and Eastern Ave offerings just a little further. My friend and I visited early in the week and ordered the same special -- chicken burrito. We are both big boys and after a day of biking in the 90+ degree pre-summer heat, I was ready to fill up the tank. First, the food. The food was good though not rising to the level of great. The ingredients tasted fresher and of better quality than Qdoba and to me, slightly higher quality than Chipotle. The rice didn't taste like the cheapest option from Sysco and the chicken (if I could find it) was ok. The burrito included greens and guacamole. The tortilla shell was crisped on a grill. My main complaint was the size was so small - to me it was as satisfying as eating a burrito the size of a Hostess Twinkee. The menu was fairly extensive with so many choices, but sadly, after experience the burrito, I am not willing to invest into other entrees. Secondly, the service/atmosphere. The clerk clearly struggled to be friendly and seemed like their mind was elsewhere. Not really a problem until you see that gratuity (of some unknown percentage) would be added to parties 4 or more. I appalled by this gratuity movement especially in a spot that borderlines fast food. Since I made up my mind to not return again, I felt sorry and left a few bucks on our small daily special offer -- even though all our server/clerk did was bring us two glasses of yucky Baltimore tap water and take/serve our order. There is nothing here that screams out "I'm different", nor value, fun, nor great. I'm sure the food is prepared to Abuela's recipes but I don't taste anything from the several trips to Ciudad de Mexico I've taken in the past. I just can't sign off a recommendation. It's not bad but it's nothing impressive either. 10 out of 10 times, I will choose Chipotle, 9.5 out of 10 times, I will choose Qdoba over Picante. Sorry, amigo. PS Sadly I had to go across the way to order a sandwich to top off my hunger
