Got out of church and was craving some Samoan food. Headed over to Poasa's to satiate my craving. My sister kept it simple with Taro & Povi masima (cured beef). I got fai (boiled green banana), sapasui (chop suey), sosisi (sausages), and palusami (coconut milk & onions baked in taro leaves). Everything was delicious and fresh. The kind lady who was working even threw in a loaf of fresh Samoan bread. I loved everything, and will definitely be back. 10/10 read more

The food at poasa is good and authentic my wife and I stopped by to get some grub and had the warmest welcome it felt like a family reunion. It's cafeteria style and you just pick you food and pay it's by weight so the more you get the more it will cost. Are food was lovely I just wish we had more sua on the kalo and fai. Since it's takeout only and I was coming up from Redondo Beach, this took more planning than I'm used to, but it's a must-visit if you're vaguely in the area. Light and dark versions of turkey tails were available, both great, available in a sauce whose ingredients I can't describe, but it was on the sweet side. I also enjoyed a lamb rib dish and another with lamb and bok choy. The coconut banana was more side dish than dessert, and was useful for sauce deployment. Small store that serves bakery and samoan lunch/dinner plates. The kind workers were very helpful to instruct us on how to order. The ambience is pretty chill as well. The food was good. I ordered the palusami, chop suey, faia i'a and turkey tail. The palusami was so delicious. It had good texture (not hard and not clumpy) to the taste and it was creamy. The faia i'a was so good I wanted more! Fish with mixed coconut mayo and half&half and onions. Sooooooo good probably my favorite!! Honestly I would return if I were in town. Small shop at the end of a small plaza. While the shop is small though, the flavors of the food and the service here are huge. We came here on a weekday and were instantly greeted by staff and fellow shoppers. Very polite people. We had the corned beef which was just so tender and flavorful. The chop suey, and the fish. This is the first time we've had Samoan food and it did not disappoint at all. So delicious! I'll admit, We drove down here for the palusami but it's only available on weekends which is fine since we have no problem coming back to try more goodies here. read more

Food order: plate of lamb chops (mamoe) corned beef brisket (fasi povi), Samoan pork sausage, with white rice. The lamb chops were absolutely delectable, very tender, off the bone, and authentic. The beef brisket was tender, juicy, not too salty, and served in large chunks rather than thin sliced, which is a triple thumbs up. Does someone win pork sausage had excellent taste, texture of the sausage was crisp and savory. Also, had some fried bread to go alongside the savory meets we ordered. Stopping in on the way back home to Fresno and it was the best decision today yet. Good ol fashion samoan food that puts an extra 20 pounds on and makes you go nite nite right afterwards. Staff was legit and helpful and the food, well let's just say I'm glad we stopped in. Living in the central valley with a very small population of samoans and no samoan food/shops, I look forward to trips to the bay or down south just for that samoan taste. My mom and I wanted to try Samoan food and made the 1.25 hour drive out to this place after seeing all the great reviews and we were not disappointed. We tried the ribs, corned beef, lamb, Turkey tails, taro, salmon casserole, Palusami, and a pineapple drink that Joy (may have spelled that wrong) recommended. All were great! My personal favorites were the ribs, Palusami, and the pineapple drink. My mom loved the salmon casserole and the pineapple drink. The staff was phenomenal-- super friendly, hospitable, and helpful. The food was very delicious. We bought boil taros with coconut milk, boil Bananas with coconut milk, boil corn beef brisket(fasi poi), chop suey, pork sausage, Turkey tail, bake fish casserole and palu Sami. They also have baking good items. We bought Pagipopo (baked buns/ coconut sauce) delicious. They know how to cook n bake Samoan food. Like the way my mother use to make it.. I also bought a Samoan hat n a hoodie from a Samoan lady outside the store selling Samoan wear. We will definitely return to Poasa's imports when we grave Samoan food. Great job! I drive from South Orange County whenever I'm craving Samoan food. My order is the same each time I come here.. faalifu kalo, palusami, povi masima, mulipipi, sapasui, sosisi. Can't speak on the chicken cuz I never get chicken when I go out but the dishes I get are always hot and always delicious. What I love best about Poasas is their consistency. They sell the most authentic Samoan food in Socal. Oh also idk if they make their own manapuas but they are also the best in Socal. For those who are OGs, you know Falagis made the best manapuas AND Samoan food of all time until he closed and moved to Samoa. Well Poasas manapuas is a close 2nd. I have to say no matter how much you try there is no way to go into a samoan shop that sells samoan food and not spend $100 easy especially when they have the classic dishes. My wife and I stopped in to pick up some food for a samoan afatasi neighbor who had been craving samoan food for a minute but did not have anyone to make it for her. She asked us if we cooked samoan food and said "not as much as we used to" because of my health issues. But we did promise her if we ever were in Carson we would get her some. That day was today. Innocently enough we were only getting two plates for our neighbor and her boyfriend and thought maybe some pai fala and masi saiga for my wife...well...that didn't happen. My first mistake was walking into the store. I felt like a kid in a (WILLY WONKA) candy store. Long story short and over $100 later we left with much more than originally planned...but happier than a tornado in a trailer park . The people were very welcoming, helpful and kind. The food was delicious and filling but being an owner of a samoan restaurant in the past I only have 2 issues on the food. The palusami made my throat itch that would indicate a little bit of older luau (taro leaves), and the faiai fe'e (the most prized of samoan dishes in my opinion) was made with baby octopus. This broke my heart because I love faiai fe'e. This gave off more of a fishy flavor than normal. I guess growing up in Samoa we always made it with adult octopus that was bought from the side of the road from young kids who caught it fresh that morning. Still not changing my rating. Great place to satisfy your samoan cravings. Keep up the good work and next time I will be sure to remember the dates to buy pies. God bless. read more

They have no problem selling food that they know should already be thrown out. I ordered a plate that included the fish, and when I got to taste it, it was spoiled. I also ordered some of the baked goods and the cookies tasted super old...almost like eating chalk. The buns were burnt or just hard altogether. Don't waste your time here. We're in town for Universal and Disneyland. I was happy to find Poasa Imports on Yelp. Haven't had any Samoan food in awhile...Levi's in San Francisco has been closed for several years. The sapasui pisupo was excellent, loved that it wasn't greasy; the turkey tails too, was on point; along with the talo and the Fai ai i'a. And for dessert, the 1/2 moon pineapple pies were good. Food was delicious. If you love tongan and samoan good and love all the fats and a hearty meal this is definitely your go to. I was craving Polynesian food so bad and O happened to be in the area and this place was definitely a must. My only disappointment is they didn't have any turkey tails which I was looking forward too and no taro leaves or oka ota but I can't have it all right.
