Went for a company lunch, first time there, was awesome…read more Will definitely go back, a coworker got the catfish, huge serving.

Today we celebrated my 75th birthday with the family, nine of us. Reservations were made for noon…read more We arrived about 10 minutes early but were seated promptly. When we walked in I could smell the "Q." Mo one ordered the same thing. We started with hush puppies and Frito Pie. My wife thought the hush puppies were too dense for her liking. I thought they were a bit dense, but worth eating. The chili for the Frito pie was spicy with brisket in it. My wife ordered the brisket sandwich with fries. There was more brisket in it than my two meat combo had. The brisket was Texas style, heavy in the pepper. It was moist, pull apart, no knife needed. I LIKED IT. My sides were corn pudding and the cowboy beans. I added a bit of the jalapeño bbq sauce to give it more heat. One granddaughter had the macaroni and cheese and said it was very tasty. Another granddaughter had the pancakes. She thought they were good but a bit dense, not quite as good as papa's. The only detractors were the coleslaw. It didn't have much flavor, needed some horseradish to spice it up. The crust of the pecan pie was really dense. The filling was good but the crust almost needed a knife. The business itself reminds me of some of the older BBQ places I have been to around the country. It was fairly clean, but there was some old food on the floor under our table. The men's room used old beer pony cages for urinals. It's tight when squeezing around someone using one of the "kegs." The men's room could use a good deep cleaning. Acceptable, but could use the cleaning. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. He was busy!!! It took a little while to take our order. A couple who came in well after us received their food before we did. I'm guessing that is because we had nine people in our party. However, our food didn't arrive all at the same time. Bottom line? Give it a try. The brisket is the best I had since being in Houston, TX. I haven't tried the ribs that I ordered yet. Saving them for Sunday night Seahawks Football! We will be going back to Jack 's!! At least I will be going back. A birthday present was a gift certificate for BBQ brisket and pork cooking lessons.
