I can't believe I haven't written a review sooner. My two beautiful bichons have been going here for 13 years now. Plush Pad was recommended by my vet! I love the convenient location, but it has been the loving, quality care my dogs have always received here. A neighbor was taking her bichon somewhere else and the dog kept getting ear infections. My boys have never had any issues, no nicks, no bad anything, just all good, and excellent haircuts. I have even taken medicated shampoo for use and they are always happy to do whatever my dogs need at no extra charge, tho I have offered to pay extra. They have even gotten the dogs in an out quicker while one had a urinary issue. I have recommended this place to so many dog owners who have also been so pleased. Highly recommend. read more

I have been taking my dogs to the Plush Pad for 25+ years because of the great service, the knowledgeable and experienced staff, and the genuine love that my animals receive when they are there. Sandra (the owner) is definitely a dog and cat "whisperer" and often notices things before I do that may need attending to as well as providing helpful suggestions and health tips. My two shih-tzus are always excited and eager when they know they are going to be groomed or bathed at the Plush Pad. Even though I have moved, I still don't mind driving 45 minutes one way to take my dogs to the Plush Pad - I just don't trust anyone else to provide the care I know I can always count on! I saw it had 4 stars so I thought to give it a shot. Not ever bringing my dog back. They did an ok job, but they charged me almost $100 to shave my dog. This is not my first trip to the groomers and the most I have ever paid is $60. My dog is a 40 lbs boarder collie mix and $100 is just flat out crazy. It's not a top fancy dog grooming place & they didn't do a better job for $100 than what I get for $60. Too expensive just bcuz they think they can rip ppl off. This place is meant for dogs, not cats. You won't find a list of services for cats on their website or inside of their store. If you ask for a list of services for cats on paper, they won't give it to you. They will take your money, but they won't tell you exactly what they did to your cat. If you ask them not to shave your cat too close, they will say, "Sorry, not possible. We will do what we want, too bad for you and your cat." read more

This is the only place that can and will groom my mean old cat! My long haired cat is 18 now and as you can imagine, she's not too great at grooming herself anymore. Once a year, they give her a "lion cut" for our amusement and her great relief. These people are saints! Sometimes my cat is great but once she bit somebody but good...but they never banned her. They just make sure two groomers are on hand for her. Plush Pad does a great job on my dog, too and he's a wiggler. read more

Upon entering the establishment I was greeted as an annoyance. There was a loud tv next to the counter that was blaring, and it didn't exactly give me the "warm and fuzzy" feeling about letting my pet go here. Not to mention, I heard crying pets from the back. I should have listened to my instincts and immediately walked out, however against better judgment I left my 10 year old cat. She was there in total of 3 hours, and it was not until well into the 3rd that I received a call in which they were unable to groom her, and I was told on the voice mail that "I need to get her." I have never had anyone in a pet environment or establishment be so cold or standoffish when dealing with pets. Upon returning, she was rude, insinuating that I had not been up front about my pet. I have had several vets, new friends, cat sitters etc. interact and she has not ONCE in the entire time, "FREAKED OUT." She has growled or chatted, but never harmed a person, and it more of a cat/dog in temperament. My assumption was that they were heavy handed or really not interested in the pets needs themselves. Her defense was 'well, we talked to her'.....no one just talks to a pet to ease their concerns. And most pet owners know they're a member of the family and treated as a furry child. I was finally told that I should tranquilize her if she will be around any new people. Being in Austin, avid in rescue,pets rights, and very anti-cruelty, I took complete offense. Additionally, finding feces on her, and in her carrier makes me think they kept her pinned in there for some time, rather than allowing her to utilize a litter box. If you require individuals with cats to drop off a pet 3 hours before grooming them - make sure you have a flipping litter box for them to access. I mean really? So in addition to the headache, I now have to clean waste off her and her carrier. I would deter ANYONE and EVERYONE from ever subjecting your pet to this woman and her horrible, unfriendly, and stinky establishment. Save yourself the trouble and save your pet the annoyance. read more

So I took my little brussels griffon here and they were very gracious even though I called to squeeze her in the same day. They did a fantastic job with the cut and styling. i took my 3yr old ragdoll to plush pad for his very first lions cut and bath experience ever & as far as I can tell, he loved it. wasn't nervous at all dropping him off, the environment is welcoming and smells nice and clean. It took about 3 hours for this deluxe package and cost me 86$ & I was impressed with that. when I picked up my cat, he wasn't nervous or upset . he was calm and really seemed to leave taken to the treatment alright. was initially worried he would be traumatized by his haircut but he's home now, strutting around, back to normal. this place is great! will be returning read more

Today we brought our cat Crawford in for an intense flea bath/ shave, and I can honestly say it was an AMAZING experience. Sandra was so loving and kind towards my guy who was recently infested with a nasty case of fleas. The woman out front (forgive me I can't remember her name), was so informative and reassuring. The pricing was wonderful as we got a shave, 2 baths (the infestation was bad), nail clipping, an ear cleaning, and she even drained his glands! 10/10 would recommend Plush Paws and all they have to offer, we will definitely be returning customers. read more

Excellent groomers! Right before Christmas, they were able to service both my Miniature Schnauzer, Turkish Angora, and Persian. They took my messy brood and turned them into well sculpted examples of the breed standard with shorter hair. I was THOROUGHLY impressed! You can tell they have a lot of love for their four legged clients. They take extra care to help the pets feel relaxed and give them attention. I know when I drop off my dog here, she is well taken care of. I can tell when I pick her up. It's a small place and most likely you will get the same groomer every time. You will have to wait a bit to get service because the staff are usually in the back with the dogs and cats (btw they groom cats!). Just keep in mind they service your pets, not you and the pets are very well taken care of. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for. read more

I'm always impressed at the work these guys do. My cat is not easy to handle, but they gave her a good brushing and belly shave. Honestly, I think $50 is a fair price for a cut, considering they have to put up with my furry little monster and her MMA kicks. LOVED THEM!!! I have been trying different places for a while trying to find a fit. I've tried big shops to little shops to mobile grooming. Plush Pad did a great job grooming my maltipoo! He looked Fantastic! I really liked the comfortable and homey atmosphere. You could tell that they love the animals that they groom. My dog felt comfortable and didn't come home with bad habits or super stressed and it is the best cut that he has ever had. I would like to say what a friendly and caring staff Plush Pad has. It was my first visit with them and I brought in my cairn terrier and pom shitzu in for a grooming. They called me when the dogs were done and when I saw how fabulous they both looked I couldn't stop laughing. It looked as if they returned two different dogs to me because, as a hairstylist I have been "grooming" them myself and finally decided to let the professionals handle it. And the groomers here are definitely professional! I have used Petsmart and the difference was amazing. The professionals at Plush Pad know there trade and I am a customer for life. We've been bringing our Shih Tzus here for years. Sandra and her son run the Plush Pad, and they are both so incredibly kind. Their prices are good (better than some of the other groomers in Austin), and the best part is they really love dogs. Our dogs are seniors now; they both have different conditions that make it very hard for them to stand for long periods of time. I talked to Sandra about it when booking the appointment, and she was happy to accommodate their needs. She held them in her arms and groomed them that way so they wouldn't have to support themselves. !!!! Even though it took her longer to groom them that way, they didn't charge extra; in fact, her son sent us home with a deluxe toy for our male. We just love this place. You can't get service like that at any box store groomer (which we admittedly have used from time to time for convenience). Now that our dogs are older and have special needs, we will always take them here. Petco and Petsmart are only marginally cheaper, and at the Plush Pad, you get the kind of service that you hope for when you trust someone else with your dogs. Thanks, Sandra. read more

I've been to many groomers here in Austin, but after bringing my dogs to Plush Pad I haven't gone to any others. This is a local family owned business. Their prices are very fair, and they always go the extra mile. They clean areas of the dogs that I'd rather not mention by name, and they do a great job at grooming the dog's paws---some of the other groomers had ignored their paws. They are always friendly and down to earth, but most important is that my dogs seem very happy with them. read more

Lol, so,,we just moved here from San Diego and I was looking for a groomer for my wheaten Terrier. I have had him to a few groomers over the years and it always averages about $60 and they were all top groomers. So first I called "just for pets", that groomer told me in a very "snotty" tone that she was not accepting new clients and gave me the name of this place. Ok, fine, I could understand that. I called Plush Pad and asked about bringing my Wheaten in for grooming. They had me on and off hold for about ten minutes, I could hear them having a discussion in the background, finally a woman gets on the phone and tells me, harshly, we will need $150 to groom your wheaten! I wasn't sure I heard her correctly so I asked again to see if there was a misunderstanding and she was very stern and gruff and she stuck to the $150. From the the conversation I think that they just didn't know how to groom a wheaten or just didn't want to. I understand that there is a "boom" in Austin right now but I lived through a "boom" in San Diego and I know from experience the businesses that inflate prices and treat possible clients badly don't last long. During a "boom" the true nature of people comes out! PS. I have the means to pay $150 but please, I'm not stupid! read more

I have a Yorkshire terrier puppy and although I have taken him to a couple of other groomers, I had read some reviews saying this place was pretty good so i decided to check it out because my husband is coming back from Baghdad this weekend and I wanted him to look good. Unfortunately,when I picked him up he looked ridiculous and was crying and screaming incessantly and even barking at the groomer. Apparently had been doing this all day. However, he has never had that problem with any other groomer nor when I do a little grooming at home. It seems to me that they were not taking proper care of my puppy and he had not been groomed very well. Overall I was highly unsatisfied with my entire visit- including the $70 price tag. read more

The only complaint is that the price is quite a bit higher than where I come from in Laguna Beach, CA. I am always told that Austin is so much less expensive than CA.
