Opened back in July of 2025, so much deserved of a belated hearty welcome, Plush Cafe and Bar is adding some cheer to the west Queen west vibe even now in January when we need a pick me up.
I heard about this place, and how could I not, so decided to check it out, first for a coffee and later for whatever, so during our January thaw I jumped on my bike and headed over for a chat and latte.
Very friendly counter service got me my $5 latte to go, and next up was to get the 411 on this spot, right across from Trinity Bellwoods in this prominent downtown location, with many well known neighbours in an amazing neighbourhood.
The interior design is quite impressive with a fresh Mediterranean look, white with an aqua theme and a welcome break from the dark wood of many places nearby. The open kitchen looked well laid out with room to move and not cramped like other places, and tall stools along the chefs counter where you can watch the kitchen action.
At the back there is a doorway separating the bar from the kitchen and dining area. The bar in tiny, cozy and intimate with 3 small two tops nestled together.
Saving the best for last, and you heard it here first, behind the bar is another doorway leading to an (work in progress) 18-room hotel!
Wow, talk about covering all the bases, welcome to WQW Plush, you're already a hit with me!
Edit: I came back in the morning for a Saturday breakfast and had the steak and eggs ($22) since I was super hungry and the chef reco'd it for me.
I was not disappointed !
Nice size steak with a decent thickness (for this dish) and cooked perfectly so it was tender and juicy, bursting with flavour. Topping off the steak was chimicurri sauce which went well with the beef. The cubed potatoes were yummy as well, and the eggs done nicely for me as well. All on a nice heated plate made for a satisfying meal that got me going, along with a couple of their lattes, I can heartily recommend this place for your next brunch. The menu options all look compelling! read more
