Our first visit here was decent and left a good impression on us. This second visit: disappointing. Our waiter had messed up nearly everything we ordered. We ordered fried calamari - we received grilled. We ordered one red curry with steamed tofu, one ready curry with chicken and no bamboo shoots - we received two red curries with fried tofu, both orders missing bamboo. It was as if our waiter just didn't listen to anything we actually wanted. At least they replaced the dishes, but it could have easily been avoided if the orders were placed correctly in the first place. Was the food good? The spice was there, but it was so bland. I had so much leftover, I ended up just leaving it and not getting a to-go box. This will be the last time we come to this place. $40 wasted. read more

Clean, fresh, and friendly are all words I would use to describe my last few experiences at Ploy Thai. I usually stick to the entrees I know I love and the Chicken Pad Thai doesn't disappoint. I think I need to start asking for it more spicy because I think I am getting too used the Americanized version. Buffets are never really my thing, being a germ phobe and all, but it certainly looks like people enjoy it. Beware don't come here thinking you will be able to fill "To-Go" boxes up with food from the buffet. They have strict policy about dining in, so come and enjoy but don't have an attitude when you can't pig out and take more than your fair share home. The portions are filling and the prices are reasonable. It's definitely my go to place right now for Thai food in the Woods. I have ordered Take Away and been very pleased with the temp, portion, packaging and speed. If you too find there are nights you don't want to cook than I highly recommend Ploy Thai. Great food for a low price. Both the pad see ew and penang curry were quite flavorful. The pad thai was a little too sweet / bland for our taste. Ploy's Basil favorite hit the spot as well with very generous portions of shrimp. The staff was friendly and the coconut ice cream for dessert was a good way to cap a wonderful meal. The strawberry and green tea ice creams were not as good as the coconut, and the thai tea was a little too sweet for our taste. Dinner portions are also big, which is nice, but keep that in mind as you might want to split two dishes between three people instead of ordering three right away. Warning: if you cannot tolerate spicy food, ask for a mild version of the penang curry, as it is spicy. read more

Great place for Thai. The food is not too sweet like typical Americanized asian food, and the lunch portions are respectable but not over filling. The appetizer buffet is a great concept and I love it! They have sushi, soup, salad, and this fried banana that you can pour honey over. Their sushi is pretty good too and they're not all california rolls either. The place is large and clean and the staff is friendly. Only downside is no doggie bag after a meal, but that's understandable. read more

So I'd give it a 2.5 but I can't figure out how. The Good: food was pretty good. We had Pad Thai and Yellow curry. The curry was better. The overall atmosphere was good. The menu selection was good. The not so good: The beef in the Pad Thai was tough and flavorless. The Pork spring roles were too crispy and fell apart when cutting into them. The dipping sauce wasn't as thick as I like (minor issue). The service was not terrible but not great either. The hostess was pleasant but didn't come by enough to make sure drinks were filled, etc. and the place wasn't crowded. We waited too long for food given the crowd size. We're still searching for that great Thai Place in Houston. read more

I love this place. It has that fresh-to-order taste, and is clean. I order the basil fried rice with tofu and no egg, spice level 3 (out of 5). It comes out spot on, I tried a number 2 once before, but it didn't seem spicy enough for my liking. But, the nice thing is the appetizer bar has a nice spicy mixture you can add, so if you're not sure go with a 2 and use a little of that! The appetizer bar was great, they had some lightly fried green beans, broccoli, and sweet potato. Also had rice wrapped veggie rolls and fried spring rolls (both veggie only). It's delicious, the only thing to be aware of is its no to-go boxes and they get busy around noon, so I try to get there at 11:30 and I'm out by 12- it's quick, so definitely work-lunch friendly. I'm rambling at this point, but my wife and I love having a quick lunch date here. This place has good food and a cool concept. I had the yellow curry. It is a thicker curry than some places, but very delicious. It comes with potatoes, carrots and your choice of meat. Medium was spicy enough for me. If you order the lunch special (good seven days a week), you also have access to their kick ass appetizer bar...fried spring rolls, original spring rolls, two soups to choose from, sushi and more. I also thought it was neat that they encourage you to eat what you order/grab from the bar. I guess an attempt at environmental awareness AND some cost savings. I'm all for it. We started going to Ploy in 2015 and thoroughly loved it until about a year go when everything changed. The recipes are not the same. The food is not the same. The new people's service is horrid too. I recently created my account just to let people know that the food here was delicious! I ordered yellow curry and a Thai Tea for takeout and was very pleased with my meal. The rice came in the shape of a heart and the straw wrapper was made like a flower which I thought was a nice touch. I would recommend people to give it a shot if they enjoy Thai food. read more

Back in 2014 this was our favorite restaurant and the food was outstanding. Since a change in ownership during the pandemic, the food has been just awful. Last week we ordered delivery and the food was beyond awful. No flavor, just boiled vegetables and not even any salt in the food. Very good!! Very authentic ! Thai spicy is very spicy but tolerable for fellow Thai pepper connoisseurs. However, as a preference I'd recommend just one notch lower on the spice scale. I was a first time visitor to Ploy. I walked in with all the optimism of a six year old who just learned to ride a bike, only to have it stolen by his best friend who tries to pass it off as his own with a crude paint job. But that's another story. They definitely have a few really good things going on: 1. The Curry was very fragrant and tasty. I loved the curry. 2. Service was pleasant. 3. Appetizer bar was a nice touch but a little strange. Sushi is not Thai so why offer it? Fix the following and you will have a loyal word spreader for life: 1. Eliminate your no-takeout/no-sharing policy. Trust me, the vast majority of diners want to eat and get on with their lives. They are not trying to get a free dinner at your expense. You will see as many people abusing your generousity as those who will pass on the appetizers altogether. Most people will take a few items and save room for your generous lunch portion. Attempting to protect yourself from a small minority of abusers creates unecessary awkwardness & negativity with everyone else. 2. Your meat. I had the red curry beef. Oh Lordy. We need to talk about the meat: a) You cut it too thick for the purpose. As if with a heavy cleaver, full force, with a blind fold. b) It is too dense and tough. Like a sunbaked pencil-eraser. c) It is not fresh. It is off-tasting as if frozen too long. d) It is not cooked right. Another reviewer suggested it was boiled. Which sounds about right. Boiled quickly in unsalted water that neither imparts flavour nor makes an attempt to seal in any moisture or break down the meat to tenderness. e) It is devoid of meat flavour. Unless "off" counts as a flavour. The curry actually refuses to stick to the meat and just slides off, as if to say, "Move along bozo. You're out of my league." This was the first visit to any restaurant - ANYWHERE - EVER - That resulted in meat being left on my plate. Fix your meat and I will be back. Because your curry is delicious. read more

How is this place still in Business? Where do I start. As soon as you walk in the floors are dirty and smelly. The waiters are rude. First thing the waiter told us was you cannot take a to go box with A bad attitude. We ordered chicken pad Thai. And Red cury with Pork. The food was so bad I told the waitress bring me a box so I can take it to my dogs, she replied with a mean attitude I told you no to go boxes. I told her the food sux so she called the owner from the kitchen out to our table ( very old lady) and she said I can't let you take food with you because if I do that I will lose. Makes you wonder what they do with left overs. I told her this food is horrible give me a bag after arguing for 20 mins I took it to go. Stay away from this place at all costs. All of their meats are separately boiled with no flavor and just thrown in your order. Get this they have a sign posted that says no sharing aloud and no Togo boxes wtf this is communism. To sum it up for you food stinks service is beyond bad it should be illegal and reported to the news media. The left overs are for sure recycled. read more

As other people already mentioned, pad Thai is horrible, there is no tamarind flavor at all.. its like noodles in ketchup. Basic Thai food and was horrible. We got tofu pad Thai and tofu was spoilt we asked to replace they said their tofu is fresh so we should order something else . I dnt recommend this place. Green curry with chicken was good. Eggplant was more raw than I prefer, but the curry tasted spicy enough with a medium spice level. Lunch special come with the appetizer buffet, but the menu notes there are no take home boxes. Appetizer buffet was not good. Sushi tasted like target style with the milky rice taste. The egg rolls were seasoned a little different because of the cabbage. Everything was room temperature if it was out for more than a few minutes. The tom yum soup was good because of the bits of chicken at the bottom. The salad bar was disappointing and room temperature. A better deal if you buy it to go then you can extend the curry more. The appetizer bar had a variety of things. I didn't like the taste of one of the soups. That is probably a preference. The entree arrives. I ordered it medium spicy. It was really good. Fresh vegetables. Chicken. I had the Pad Kee Mao. I have only had Thai food two times. Plenty spicy for me. I like spicy food. All in all it was a good experience for lunch. My favorite Thai place in the Woodlands. Great service. Authentic food. Low price. Good size portions I always have leftovers. I ask for Thai tea as my drink. I also always get the coconut soup Tom Kha Gai with chicken as my appetizer. Delicious and perfect! I love to eat their Pad Kee Mao Stir-fried rice noodles with choice of meat, garlic, tomatoes, chili, onions, mushrooms, egg & basil. YUM!! Or the Pad Thai stir-fried thin rice noodles with chicken, egg, green onions, bean sprouts & peanuts. Sweet and delicious!
