The Pleasanton Marriott is pretty much the run of the mill for the Marriott chain. This place has a pretty good location for the local businesses but really doesn't have anything that will wow you. I would classify this as nothing more than a business travelers hotel. The rooms themselves are as expected with some nice amenities and some fixtures flaws (inconsistent shower temperature). I was a little disappointed with their service towards platinum members as I booked a king room and got two double beds with literally no explanation nor upgrade option... Needless to say, it's a place to rest your head and reenergize you for your next day tasks. I will start with my reservation, I made member's rate reservation on 8/1/2019 with pre-paid bill for total of 8 night whopping (~$2,700.00+). I checked the same room for same stay on 8/3/2019 and saw it was cheaper by (~$500+) so I canceled my initial reservation on 8/3/2019 and re-booked at cheaper rate. My fault for not reading the fine print that the reservation made with members rate can be cancelled for full refund within 24 hours, because there was another return policy within the reservation that I can cancell within 8/3/2019 for full refund. So little confused on that end. I saw when I checked in the front desk acknolwedged the cancellation and request for refund on the original reservation, but I didn't see the credit on my credit card charge, while another charge was made for the stay related to 2nd reservation. I called the hotel left VM on Saturday with Billing team, didn't hear anything back. I called again on Tuesday and spoke with someone from account team, who had to escalate to finance director for the refund request. 3 things I totally disagree with that was pointed out to me: 1) when I made the reservatio there was no "blue print" or "pop up msg" regards to members rate cancellation. According to them during their booking training there was mock up msg that they had to accept regards to this clause. 2) members rate is not cheaper, as my situation example, its actually cheaper to book as non-member rate. 3) members get shit, because it they really valued their members they wouldn't charge the preimuem or, in this incidents because it was evident that I re-booked the reservation for same stay, they could have honor the refund. At least they decided to refund ~$1500.00 (not yet received even after 3 days since the call) from my ~$2,700.00 reservation cost + $2,300+ hotel fee I paid for the stay. I still come out minus on this situation. This was one hell of expensive stay at the end. The hotel interior is medicore, popcorn ceilings and amenities I had better for the rate I paid. I have many reasons to go back to bay area for work and etc, this is not the place I will be staying. For those of you debating your stay or even reservation, be aware of this. read more

The only reason they are getting a second star is because we got such a great rate on our room. The hotel is under construction, which they disclose, however, in our renovated room the walls and connecting doors are still paper thin. We could hear the guest next to us on a phone call loudly talking both late at night and early in the morning. We didn't get the internet information at check in and when I called the front desk was put on hold twice. When I finally spoke to someone they said "it's the marriott bonvoy guest" network - I told them it wasn't coming up and they didn't seem concerned. We ended up using our own mifi at our own expense. I checked in the morning to see if someone had finally restarted their network and nope, still no bonvoy network. Given our bonvoy status was an overall disappointing but thankfully brief stay which was convenient to family. read more

This hotel was very nice and clean with very friendly staff at the front desk and a Greeter at the front entrance. I was surprised to see that there was a mini refrigerator already provided and they also gave us a microwave to heat up our leftovers. They provided all amenities a person could ask for and free parking. We didn't have time for the free breakfast buffet or pool/hot tub. The only reason I gave this hotel 4 stars is because of all of the banging around by the maid service...Sounded as if they were doing demolishing to the wall with the vacuum cleaner. Also, talking very loud. We planned on sleeping in, but that didn't happen. I would definitely stay here again, but request a room that may be quieter at 8 AM. My booking was done on Booking.com for $169.00 for the night. A lot less expensive than the Sheraton that was charging $235 and all under construction when we walked in. read more

I really like this Marriott. Their event room is great, and the people are all friendly. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and there are some nice perks for those with Marriott reward status (late check out, free bottled water, concierge lounge). My company has had our holiday party here for the last few years, and we really like the setup of their ballroom. A few weeks back, I made a last-minute reservation for myself and my brother and his wife. The reservation was only three days before the day we were supposed to stay there. The day before my brother got sick and is my sister-in-law didn't want to come and stay without him so we decided to go to our event for the day and drive home. I immediately went online and canceled the rooms. The cancellations seem normal. I received an email stating that the rooms were canceled. I found out about a week later that my credit card had been charged for the full amount. I was surprised by this. I thought the email for my cancellation would've mentioned the charges. I've been a member of Marriott for over 20 years and I've never had to cancel a reservation before, so this was new. I'm putting this out there just to remind customers that you should check the terms of your reservation so you don't get charged like I did, thanks. read more

I am now a regular here and this facility needs a bump in the rating for sure. Finally got to check out the gym and also their full-service breakfast bar. A very nice gym (see pics) with proper supplies and machine care. Free weights with two benches, lots of cardio stuff, and quite spacious with natural lights and French Windows that overlook the pool. Full breakfast bar with an egg station was not only nice but very efficient. You can have a lazy breakfast (saw several families with kids - they have family special rates over weekend) or a more a 'businessperson bite'. In either case, you will not be disappointed. The bed and pillows were so comfortable that I wanted to drag them out of the hotel and put them in the car. The room was nice enough that it made up for the fact that there was not a fan in the bathroom. There is a nice pool and Jacuzzi to relax in. I spotted a business center and a gym area. The lobby area has several beautiful wooden art pieces and comfortable chairs. The bar opens to the lobby and so does the restaurant. The breakfast buffet seemed expensive and there was nothing on it, other than bacon, that appealed to me. The continental option was $14 and it was what they serve in many motels for free. The complimentary coffee was empty, it was never refilled. I doubt I would ever over-drink at the bar--cocktails were $15. As a raffle salesperson I was invited to a reception for the event I was attending. They put out nice spread. It was better than the banquet dinner. I did not expect much so I was not disappointed by overcooked dry chicken. The conference rooms where the speakers made their presentations were reasonably comfortable. We did have some problems when booking the reservation. The person who booked the room on the phone could not find the special rate for the photo weekend event that we were attending. When he did finally found the information he insisted that all the rooms were booked at for that rate, and the only thing left were a few rooms king size beds. There would be no refunds and they would not reduce the rate. Part of the fun at these events is staying at the venue and visiting with friends. Thankfully, the front desk people were much nicer; they gave us the lower rate and a room with two beds. I hate to pay a lot for a hotel room, however, if all the Marriott hotels have beds as wonderful as the one at this location I might have to reconsider bargain motels. read more

This week hotel hopping makes me appreciate having a Marriott. Due to Dreamforce conference and the overflow, most hotels in Pleasanton are sold out. If you travel for business, the important things are 1) clean rooms 2) relatively quiet and free of road noise 3) decent lobby bar and food 4) easy check-in and check-out and 5) reasonable service. Our stay at the Pleasanton Marriott was a pleasant one. Room was clean and comfortable. It was heaven for us to stay indoors from the hot heat of 95 to 98 degrees during our visit recently. We had a nice light meal in the hotel lobby bar the first evening. The server was so friendly, attentive and courteous. The food we ordered came in a timely manner and the quality was super, the fried chicken wings was well season, crispy outside and juicy within, the Kobe beef slider was cooked tender, moist and tasty. Yet the best was the rice bowl with grilled prawns, nicely grilled to perfection and served with sauteed tender vegetables and the flavor was wonderful. A dish one could crave for more. The environment was relaxing, cozy and accommodating. A nice meal with excellent food, top notch service in a fine quality hotel. We shall return to this Marriott should we visit this area in the future and definitely would recommend for others doing a trip in this part of California. read more

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend for a near by wedding. The rooms have a crazy bathroom barn door. When the bathroom door is open it covers the garment closest. When the bathroom door is closed the closet is open. In a rush to get to the airport I took a quick look around the room for anything I had missed packing. Because the closest was covered I missed several expensive garments. That's on me! However I believe someone on the housekeeping staff is a thief. This was my first time visiting Marriott hotel in Pleasanton ca and I wanted breakfast in bed so I contacted the restaurant for room service at 10:52 to order our food as breakfast is served between 6to 11 am and I was told the following: It is too late to order breakfast I can go to the lobby they r still serving breakfast They have to check with the "kitchen" to see if they can make me breakfast I was confused why I was getting this response as it was before 11 am and I asked for the manager I pointed out all the obvious facts and she started to educate me on how the kitchen "works" which I was not interested in and she repeated that they were "checking" if the "kitchen" can make me breakfast. I was frustrated why I had to go through all this to get breakfast and I advised her I want my breakfast free. The good old "we need to swipe your card for incidentals" scam. It says free internet but when you register and click on it you get charged later. People in the adjacent room knocking things over all night with a baby screaming every two hours. Finally had to call the front desk. Should have gotten a different room. The put receipt under the door and it was more than expected. Went to checkout and they adjusted it down for the internet charges but later checked the credit card and a charge was there for $50.00 over that amount. "Wait to charge people" Told them twice about all the noise from next door. They said sorry. That was it. Horrible getting through the busy next day. Pounding headache and all. Don't stay here. I'm going to be bitter AF! Very upsetting and one of the worst Marriott hotels I've stayed at. Don't fucking apologize because it's too late and it won't solve our problems now. Unless you give us a big suite, something more tangible than a fucking "oh we apologize for the inconvenience". Worst service as well! We had booked a room with a king size bed ahead of time, and they said they ran out but will put us in an "Assisted Accessibility" room. Are you kidding me?? They'll basically kick us out if someone needs that room, and they're fucking out of "Assisted Accessibility" rooms. That day was also 95 degrees, and we kept adjusting the AC to 60 FUCKING DEGREES throughout the night. I woke up like 3 times trying to understand why it wasn't getting any colder because it felt like we were sleeping in a sauna with the vent blowing air - not even cold! Found out that it was broken! There's also NO VENT in the bathroom so when the doors were closed, we were pretty much suffocating in the heat! My partner went to go ask for a refund or some sort of discount as a member and they weren't willing to do anything else except "bring an engineer" on the day we were leaving. Such BULLSHIT SERVICE! This should've been taken cared of prior to our stay! Such a low bar hotel for what we paid for. Truly one of the worst Marriott hotels and experience we've ever stayed at! Checked in on 12/24/16. Visiting family in Pleasant. This is a nice place. Have stayed here before. Front desk couldn't find our reservation and sent us down the street to the other Marriott's. Got there and they looked up the reservation and confirmed it was at the other Marriott's for sure. Went back and the reservation was found this time. On completion of check in, we were given complementary drink coupons for the mix up. Didn't ask for them, was going too, but handled correctly before I had to ask. Nice! Problem could of been avoided if confirmation # was provided by us, but wife lost email. Partly our fault. Room was clean, friendly staff, no problems with anything. This Marriott is pretty good. Not the best, but I would definitely stay again. To start, the staff was soooo great! Every interaction was positive and inviting. Lobby restroom and lounge were clean and felt upscale. It looked clean and felt clean. Bar has descent food, good service and liquor choices were great. Beer, good selection. Wine, was ok. ( wine snob) Room was fine size. Stayed in 427. Just the right amount of shade trees and pool view. Bed was great! Linens were clean. Crisp and fluffy. It felt great. Bathroom was basic. Toilet sat low. Clean, no obvious mold or soap scum. Water pressure was mediocre. In room coffee brand was fine...Starbucks drip in the lobby was better. Room service was good. Quick, 5 dollar charge to order. What's best is to order food and drinks at the bar and then carry it up to your room. Pool area needs some work. It's not tidy. Cleaning staff needs to be better at the details. The wrapper i left on the table is still there in the morning even though the chairs were neatened up. Pool is warm, hot tub is small but hot. I'm a long-time fan of the Marriott brand. By far and away, it's a marquee I can depend on. The same goes with the Pleasanton Marriott. I've stayed here a few times and have mostly been happy. My last stay in December was problematic because a few folks decided to throw a party: It was a night of no sleep. The manager however, made things right for me and needless to say I was grateful. The rooms are well appointed, the food service while not fancy functions well, and the staff bends over backward to do what they can to ensure your stay is good. Naturally, I'll be back! read more

Over the past few years I've attended many events here. They've renovated in these few years and the lobby area looks awesome. The events I've attended utilize the little restaurant area near the front and part of the lobby. The food they provide has always been great. From small finger foods, meat and cheese spreads to a whole turkey they brought out to be carved for fresh sandwiches. Everything theyve served was above any regular old hotel food. I usually love Marriott hotels and try to stay there whenever I can. This is by far the worst one I have ever visited. The rooms are ok, but the lack of bar staff, especially in the a.m. when you need coffee and the baristas just watch you from 50 feet away while they are bussing tables is obnoxious. My main complaint is the staff at the front desk and their rudeness. I thought it might have just been me, but we had two groups of family and friends staying as well and they described their treatment as "surly". I will scratch this one off my list and if it is the only hotel in the area with vacancies the next time I'm in the area, I'll sleep under an overpass, instead. $12.95/day for internet is BS too. read more

I cannot express how I get excited every time we check into the Pleasanton Marriott. I have family and other relatives in the Bay Area and this is my one time stop for my home away from home! Located comfortably near the freeway, this Marriott has had some recent renovations and updates in the past few years. The staff is always friendly and polite and did I mention they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner? I've stayed here over 11 times now and I can tell you that there hasn't been a disappointing moment since I've come here. The weather is dandy and I love all the nearby shops in the local area. The hotel also offers a private gym which is 24 hours and a wonderful pool outside. They offer a small market place for basic everyday needs and I love their Starbucks coffee! Thank you! read more

3.5 stars. I'd go back if I got another good deal. When you're parents of young twins, there are many times when you'd sell your soul to the devil for some sleep. Or pay an overnight babysitter your last dime to escape to a hotel... to sleep. Queen beds and all. Romantic, no? We got a good last-minute deal at the Marriott, which looked (online) more fancy than our usual budget getaways. It was an overall OK stay. Sleep was had, showers were had. But it could've been better. We went to the lobby bar for a happy hour drink. Granted, 10 minutes before the end of HH, but we are seat-of-pants people. It took us 5 minutes to track down the bartender, and another 5 minutes to get drinks from the bar and hurk them back to our mod table. It took us another 10 minutes to toss said drinks back and flee from the kids that were screeching all over the lobby. I won't get started on bad parenting, but you'd think the front desk or the ever-disappearing bartender (that did not ever offer us a second drink or snacks) would ask them to please use inside voices or not to ride the luggage carts. We were the only couple at the restaurant, which was funny. We had great service from a super friendly waiter. Food was decent, although salty. We had a 3-course special for $19.95, and it was a lot of food. The room was clean and comfy, but you could see some wear and tear on the furnishings. Walls were thin, so you could hear doors closing and people coughing in other rooms. We could hear people setting their car alarms in the parking lot. The WORST THING EVER was the clock with the bright night light that COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. When sleep is paramount, you will risk being a fire hazard and dropping a towel over the darned thing. Trust me. You will. The exercise room had more machines than you'd expect and the pool looked really nice, but we were too sleepy to use them. The end. read more

This hotel is a typical hotel. Clean. Small. Flat screen tvs. Small convenient store. Nice lounge area. The only complaint I have is with the staff. I guess they must not be used to a little rowdiness in Pleasanton so when it happens I guess they have to bring in the big guns. Our friends had just gotten married and went back to the hotel room with the bridal party in order to continue the celebration. Even though the hotel knew that the couple was getting married, they couldn't give them a better deal like a bigger room or at least link the rooms of the bridal party with theirs. Anyways, we had a group of people in the room toasting and cheering to the newly married couple. About an hour or more after we arrived, we get a knock on the door stating that we were too loud. I've been through this before and I was expecting security to come a lot earlier than that so I wasn't mad. However, I wasn't expecting the guy to threaten us with a phone call to the POLICE!! Come on guy, like seriously? This is our first warning and you already threaten us with the cops?! Nice. About five minutes later, we get a call from the front desk about the noise and that's when we decided to call it an evening. We ended things afterwards and most of the people left to either go home or back to their rooms. The same security guard was outside the door waiting for us to leave, He then proceeded to followed a few of us back to our room and basically stood right outside the door. We were just talking, but I guess he thought we were continuing the party in this room. One of us went outside to talk to him and AGAIN, he threatened us with the cops. What a jerk! Not only that, right after we talked to him, the front desk calls and said that they were getting complains from our room. We had only been in there for ten minutes and the security guy decides to call and tattle on us for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. We told them that we were just talking and they apologized. Thanks for lying about the new complaints! After a few minutes he is gone and we are all annoyed. I really hope this hotel works on its people skills and customer service because it's not good business to alienated people. People are just never gonna come back and I'm thinking Pleasanton doesn't have very many tourists so they need to make sure their customers are happy. :P read more

My friend reserved a wedding block here and they went above and beyond the call of duty to make us all comfortable. The parents of the bride and groom lost their home in a fire recently and the Marriot did everything they could and more to make this wedding weekend an escape from their recent loss and horrors. Several local businesses which we were going to patronize before and after the wedding bailed on events and the Marriot staff helped make up for those cancelled events (though those local businesses were in no way affiliated!). Typical Marriott, this one is right off the 580, good location with plenty of parking. Nice gym with adequate equipment and towels, have a pool and jacuzzi outside. Service is ok, they forgot to clean and stock my room, so a bit disorganized on the service. Wifi will cost you, good thing I'm a Gold member, other hotels are free. The business center is small but has a few computers and printers. concierge area is stock for early breakfast. Standard Marriott amenities, great beds and pillows. read more

We had a wedding to attend in Livermore, so we stayed here for one night. I wouldn't say it's the cheapest place for being in the suburbs (it will run you around $150 for a weekend-night stay), but it seems like a lot of the options in the area are the same price. This was a pretty standard Marriott hotel: the rooms were decently sized and clean, the room was quiet, and the staff was nice. We got lucky and got randomly selected as the "guests of the day", which entitled us both to free breakfast, which is normally $20 per person. The breakfast buffet was nice with an omelette bar where you could pick from a few combinations that they recommended, or customize your own. They had spinach, chicken sausage, cheese, mushrooms, and some other vegetables and they were all freshly prepared. There was also fruit, pastries, blintzes, bacon, and a pretty good spread. Parking is complimentary and the location is convenient - right off the freeway. They were nice enough to grant us late checkout, and overall, we had a nice stay here. I'd stay here again if we had another event that required us to stay overnight in Livermore or Pleasanton again. read more

My husband and I decided to have a staycation, and we were able to book this hotel for under $100. There were construction for a new M lounge in the main lobby. The place was clean and upon check in, we were informed that we had a complimentary brunch for Easter. I think it's because we are elite platinum Marriot members. But still a nice gesture. The room was really cozy, with a big screen tv. The bathroom was nice. We had a really nice stay and was able to have a late check out at 4 pm. This is your typical Marriott property. No surprises. Good location in the East Bay area. Easy access to all airports San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco), although SFO is about 50-90 minutes depending on traffic. The hotel is close to shopping and many restaurants by car, so you can avoid the hotel food experience. I paid $135 before the string of taxes, which was about $30 less than the Marriott up the road in San Ramon. I am not sure why the big difference. The hotel has been renovated in the decor was really cool in the lobby and bar area. The rooms were comfortable except for the loud air conditioner unit. The water came out of the faucet clear and then turned cloudy, so I stuck with bottled water. I would recommend this hotel at the rate I received. I stayed at Pleasanton Marriott on a Friday night after an event. I got the room through an Express deal on Priceline. We booked one room for two guests, they gave us two full size beds as opposed to two queen-size beds. Since it wasn't a big deal to us, we didn't decide to ask for a change, but we felt like it should have been specified to us what bed size are we going to get if not the standard 2 Queen. The rest of the facilities were beautiful and well kept. The gym was fairly big, with about 5 or so cardio machines and a good range of dumbbells. There were no other machines though. The beds themselves were a little bit worn down, and I could see some people's backs being a bit achy, but aside from that the room was great and nice to be in. the high rating definitely comes from the fact that it is a value deal when I got it, and would not consider paying more than $100 a night for it. read more

Wow! I think I would have been as comfortable in a shipping container with a cot! This seemed to me to be a bare bones business hotel. Everything is in tones of grey. The "restaurant" area looks like a bunch of tables set up in the check-in lobby. No ambience what so ever. We had to go back down to the lobby immediately after checking in because the "key" to our suite did not work. Once we got into our room we noticed more shades of grey. The TV was difficult to use. No instructions on how to use it.... no free movies. The coffee station was not completely stocked. You have to sign up for their app, or pay for internet service. It took two trips to the lobby to finally get hooked up to internet. The water pressure in the shower was very weak. Apparently there is a special club within the hotel where people can go and get coffee and who knows what else since we were told nothing about this... only that there is no coffee available until 7am when we saw other hotel guests walking around drinking coffee. The breakfast buffet was underwhelming. The best thing was the mixed granola and the sausage was okay. Eggs - bland... french toast about a quarter of an inch thick with no egg flavor - no sugar free syrup available - potatoes looked like they had been defrosted and thrown into a big pot.... AND when we got home, it looked as though we were being charged 50 dollars more than what we signed out for at check out. The bed was akin to sleeping on the floor - not comfy or cozy. We were in town for a funeral and would have hoped to at least had a good hotel experience.... we did not. read more
