If you're looking for a relaxing nail salon, this is not it. I was so overwhelmed, uncomfortable, and confused getting a mani here. It's a tiny salon and everyone working there (I believe 7(?) ladies) were all talking to each other at once. You can't hear anything but that and it's nonstop. And for some strange reason each person that works there does a part of your mani?? It takes forever... literally almost 2 hrs. I told one of the ladies she was hurting me and asked her to stop what she was doing. She said, you have to have this done. She continued. At one point it was all so bazaar, I looked over at the giant fish swimming in a too small dirty tank and wondered if I was dreaming. It's cash only. Came in at 4:55p to get a shellac manicure only to be told they are closed early. Closing is 6p. It's very upsetting when a business doesn't stick to their business hours. PLC is hidden gem - so hidden that I actually had to call them to find the door! Located in the Breton Village shopping mall, go around the back behind the D&W and look for a black door. This is a shared entrance for the sporting goods store as well as PLC Nails. I had called earlier in the day to see if they had any openings, which turned out to be a good idea since it's not a huge space. Definitely call ahead to make an appointment. I arrived for my pedicure appointment and got in a chair about 10 minutes after my scheduled time. No big deal since I wasn't in a rush, but something to be aware of if you have a time crunch. I chose a polish color and enjoyed the comfy massage chair. The pedicure was quick but careful and I appreciated the attention to detail. The hot stone massage was a really nice touch, as it's not something I have experienced with other basic pedicures. The cost for the pedicure was $25 but it looks like their prices are going up in September to $30 - which I think is still pretty reasonable. It's a bit of a no-frills type of place but I had a nice experience. They only accept cash, no credit or debit cards, so be sure to bring some bills to pay. There are no TVs there, which I actually appreciated because usually at nail places I've been to there's always a TV blaring HGTV or something at top volume. Not super relaxing. I took my book and enjoyed watching the huge fish in the tank - although he looks like he might need a larger home soon! I'll definitely be back for another pedicure in the future. Staff was friendly and patient. $45 for the shellac mani/reg pedi . . . Returned almost a full year later (I apparently have a hard time treating myself lol!), but brought my mom since she was in town. She has HIGH standards and was a little hesitant at first, but she commented to me the other day that this is the longest she's had a pedicure last, it was the first nail salon she didn't feel like staff were gossiping about customers, AND how they do an excellent job. Used to swear by this place bc of the quality of the manicures and how long they lasted, but I won't be going back after today. The technician I had was borderline MEAN. Shoved my calf to get my foot back in the water (instead of just tapping), cut my toe and when I winced, she looked at me and said "why?" like I was crazy. Cut me AGAIN, then instead of apologizing, got up and walked away. Another tech took over but overall it was basically beyond unexpected and rude. If I could've walked out right then I would have. Add to that that they don't take cash, the place is filthy, and not one person ever engages you at ALL. Like not even a "hello" or even a smile. Consider me done! read more

They only accept cash (they let me Venmo a nail tech because I specifically asked) and they only do regular or shellack mani and pedi's. No chrome, tips, or dip. They don't do designs (kind of surprised they let me get a French). BUT what they do, they do extremely well and for only $35!! They spent 15+ minutes on my cuticle care alone and were very gentle. Everyone's nails looked amazing in there. All the techs were friendly and great at nails! It's not clean, they only take cash (but don't tell you or post it anywhere until it's time to pay & then send you to an ATM down the street), and sterilization of tools is questionable. The chairs are dusty and old, the buttons for massage are so warn that the options aren't even visible anymore and there's just a hole where you might have pressed a button. This is by far the best nail salon in Southeast Grand Rapids. They are meticulous with their cuticle and nail care and cleanliness is impeccable. Their shellac manicure is smoother and has more coats than anywhere else I have tried. It lasts 2-3 weeks without chipping or wear! They remove the shellac without dremel tools which is also important to me. I truly hope that the re-development of Breton Village does not push this great business out!! read more

The ladies are rude- they were cutting my cuticles for like 30 minutes. When I asked them to stop cutting, they were rude and spoke over me in loud tones. Until I was introduced to PLC nails....when I tell you, I refuse to go anywhere else now, I truly mean it. Prices are AMAZING and the quality of work is great! Plenty of colors to choose from, most are OPI brand. You get a complementary hot stone leg massage with each pedicure which is superb. The current prices are $20 for a pedicure, and $25 for a shellac manicure (these are the only two services I've received in the past five years). The only cons I can think of, is that sometimes the communication isn't the greatest- they will either leave you in the pedicure chair or escort you to the drying station while your nails dry. I usually feel that I need to ask if I'm done before I get up... The inside of the shop is also a little run down, but I was informed their lease is up in July 2018 and they intend to relocate. Rude and condescending! I have never been so embarrassed and insulted before! I had made an appointment 2 weeks prior (knowing the holidays might be busy). When I showed up for my appointment, it was clear everyone was busy and running very behind. The problem was when the girls (all piggybacking on one another) acted like I was absolutely crazy to think that they would take me in for an appointment any time soon ..what a shock to be TURNED AWAY because they were running so behind! Instead of a simple apology or offering to reschedule, it became an inquisition as to WHY I didn't let THEM know at the time of making my appointment that I had a doctor's appointment to get to (2 hours later!). Funny thing is.... I DID that exact thing when I made the appointment!!! I have never felt so insulted and will never go back!!!
