Okay - so we were visiting family members and they mentioned the pie so we HAD to check it out. We didn't get food or anything else... literally just apple and fruits of the forest pie and YUM. My grandfather's favorite dessert was pie, so I've eaten a lot of it in my lifetime and this ranked super high on the list! The crust was delicious. The ratios were fantastic. The cook on the fruit was perfect. I hate when fruit pies are all weird goop, this had the perfect amount to coat the fruit. Fruits of the forest is a more rare pie and it was such a pleasant surprise to see it here! We were so happy with both and will definitely be getting more. We drove hours salivating for their apple pie. We arrived to the great disappointment of a bakery chef out sick. The sweet heart of a waitress was very nice and warned us ahead of time since the pie was store bought. We grabbed a piece each - me cherry and my friend apple with ice cream. This rating is based solely off of two pieces of pie that I ordered. I saw they had coconut cream pie in it sure looked a lot like what my mom used to make so I ordered that, and then they had a pie cold fruit of the forest. This pie contains rhubarb, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, apple, cherries. This had a delicious tartness to it that would go good with any cup of coffee. Oh, and the coconut cream pie. It is about as close as I have ever found to what my mom used to make. So, if you are driving along, I 80 and you're about 40 miles inside of Pennsylvania from the Ohio border. Stop at this place. It is always a treat when a random pitstop meal ends up utterly wowing you. This restaurant, at least to my girlfriend and I, demonstrated the beauty in simplicity. So many restaurants are trying to get all fancy with their burgers these days; huge patties, tons of unnecessary toppings, a million different ingredients that cause the flavor profile to completely lose its identity. I was delighted when this place provided a simple, classic cheeseburger that was absolutely delicious. Had the chance to stop by at this place while getting gas.. Looks like a trucker stop.. The ladies there were very nice and the service was excellent. The food was decent, not from this area and they had Cinnamon raisin toasts, which is new for me and I loved that. Ordered French toast, eggs, and sausages. Not bad, I'll come again. I often get ToGo orders from the plaza and we also dine in there. I have been going there for many years and the servers know I always tip extremely well. Unfortunately, I have had at least 10 ToGo orders that were incomplete even though I was charged for the product. I normally do not comment except for two times. But I am tired of the lack of concern by the cook staff and the servers in not double checking the orders before bagging them. Even though this has happened repeatedly, I still leave consistent $10 dollar tips with the server hoping that they might remember and take a second to check. Also the most recent server never offered me any crackers for the quart of chili I purchased. Then, while eating my chicken salad, I bit down on foreign matter that resemble a piece of rock. I complained to the server about the incomplete order, and she did apologize, but she has been the recipient of many of my "good" tips and evidently they are not acknowledged properly. People complain how they aren't appreciated in the work place these days. I always try to extend extra courtesy to them every time I visit. I guess it is a one way street with some people.... Stopped here for dinner on a road trip. I had the meatloaf dinner while my dining partner had the apple pie. My dinner was decent; the gravy was not overly salted and the crinkle cut fries were typical of a diner. It was cold out and the comfort food hit the spot. Restaurant was nice and there seemed to be some regulars watching the game. Service at first was slow as we seated ourselves but improved. Decor was a little quirky with gothic fixtures and inspirational quotes in "Old English" painted on the beams. I just had a couple eggs and marbled rye toast which was cooked just right. Saw good reviews so we went during a white-out. I had an omelette and my dad had a turkey club. Decent for where we were but not at all good. Food seemed almost rubbery. Why two stars you say? Because the food was awful. My reason for giving two stars and not just one is because the waitresses were very friendly and I like the atmosphere of this place. Very rustic. We probably ate here 4-5 times in a three day period. We really had no other choice. We were held up in Emlenton without a load and had no groceries saved up in our cooler, so of course I was delighted when I saw that this truck plaza had a restaurant. Anything beats McDonald's or Subways..again. Or so I thought. We first ordered the "sampler" appetizer with chicken tenders, onion rings and "provolone-sticks" as they call them up here. Chicken tenders, onion rings and cheese-sticks came RIGHT out of the freezer...and you could taste it. Our friend ordered the "all-you-can-eat chicken stew". It consisted of canned soup, canned vegetables, and canned chicken (yuck, much?). Let's just say...he didn't eat all he could eat. We both had breakfast. Our steaks had no seasoning of flavor whatsoever. Our eggs also had no flavor and just "looked" wrong. Our bacon tasted frozen and our hash-browns were creamy. And they claim that they have the worst-best (with "worst" crossed out) apple pie in the world. This is absolutely not true. Horrible, OLD, pie that has been sitting for days. BUT, if you get the last piece..it's free. Please don't eat here. This place is over-priced and although the regulars like it, the food is just not up to par. read more

Got stuck here while traveling in snowy weather conditions. I am usually one to avoid diners at all costs, but this one looked quite homey. Okay, I'll admit that the free wifi was luring me in ;) They have an all-you-can eat buffet at $9.99. It could float your boat but I'm not a fan of fried chicken, potato salad, and peach cobbler type of food. Service is really quick. And the menu is mostly sandwiches and some dinner items. I got the Western Burger with spicy mayo and baked potato. Loved the homemade apple with ice cream. According to the menu, their apple pie is the best of Allegheny, PA. OPEN 24-7! I'm very much a city person, so when my car broke down and I had to stay overnight in Emlenton, I didn't exactly have high hopes for the experience. I think I stopped in for dinner around 8pm and it was really busy so the service was kind of slow but the waitress was super friendly when she did get to me and the hot turkey sandwich that was on special for the day reminded me of the ones I used to have as a kid. The dutch apple pie that I brought back to the motel and had early the next morning was great, so I can only imagine what it must have been like fresh. I picked a pretty standard breakfast and the portion sizes were huge for the amount of money you'll spend. My car wasn't going to be ready until the afternoon, and I'd picked a table with an outlet that didn't work so I couldn't plug my laptop in, but they weren't very busy at that hour so they were totally fine with me relocating after I'd eaten. The waitress whose section I ended up in after the move, Amber, kept coming by to check on whether or not I needed more coffee or anything else and was just absolutely wonderful during the seven or so hours I ended up waiting. I'd definitely recommend this place for anyone passing by that might not mind taking a little extra time to sit down somewhere rather than grabbing fast food on the go. read more

This place is a your typical rural diner/gas station/ convenience store. The waitress was friendly and my food arrived pretty fast. As far as the food, for about $10 I got an omelette with home fries and toast. The omelette was well constructed, but they used egg beaters from a carton, and the sausage or bacon had an oddly smoker flavor, like if you cooked it first in a microwave. The sausage was links instead of cuts. The toast was not bread baked fresh in the past few day. Two stars because it's not that bad and worth a stop considering the lack of options. I never thought I'd be such a fan of a truck stop...I'm not saying the decor is too pretty or that it isn't outdated and greasy looking, but we've eaten at this place about 4 times now and there hasn't been much I've been disappointed with. I've loved the breakfast (eggs, toast and a pancake), the hamburger was surprisingly good, good onion rings, good fried chicken, and my bf had an awesome chicken sandwich he loved. I had the fish one time and while the flavor was good, I'd hoped for crispier breading and the apple pie that seems to be "famous" was decent, but not great. The salads are just iceberg so not really great, the meatball sub wasn't really impressive, and my bf didn't care for the chicken fried steak's gravy.
