    Takeout poutine and ribs
    Abby L.

A few months ago my family and I decided to take a weekend trip to Cook Forest and we stayed super close to the Trails End Restaurant. We knew immediately we would end up eating there at some point during the weekend and we had our fingers crossed the food would be good. Turns out the food was great! What a nice surprise to be staying so close to such a good little restaurant. My partner got ribs and I got some poutine. We both got French onion soup which I'd been thinking about forever prior to our trip. He scarfed down his ribs with no complaints and we both loved the poutine. I liked that it was made with tater tots and fried cheese curds because it gave it a "campy" feel, and the gravy was delicious! As silly as it may seem, I cannot stop thinking about the green beans with sliced almonds. Both my partner and I ordered them and I ate both ordered because I loved them! If I make them myself they won't be as good because we won't be surrounded by all the beautiful nature like the Trail's End Restaurant as we eat, but it'll have to do until the next time we make it back for our next visit. We'll definitely be back!

I love going to Trails End when I'm up in the Forest! They've got great food! My son ordered the crab legs and they came out with a plate as big as he was! He LOVED them! Staff is wonderful! Prices are excellent as well! Not the most beautiful place inside but it's nice! I recommend!

Regular wings... thought about taking a pic after we started eating.

We were staying at the campground across the road and decided we wanted wings. They were great! They almost seemed to have a very light batter on them. We had regular which had dry spices, not spicy hot. Very nice flavor and texture. Also had the prime rib sandwich, added onion and mushrooms. Very good also, loaded with meat. Chips on the side could have been a bit more cooked but okay. This is during covid so we picked up, it was ready when it was supposed to be. Also bought a six pack. If we are in the area we would go back.

Found this place in a Northeastern Pennsylvania guide book after a day of canoeing in Cooks Forest. We were starving and this place was only 2 miles from the river. It was a great find. They had a bar, dinning room and an outdoor patio (with live music this particular Sunday) The menu had a good variety of homemade food including sandwiches, dinners, daily specials and homemade soups. We got the buffalo chicken nachos topped with cheese and lettuces served with a ranch salsa dipping sauce. A huge portion and so yummy. My niece got the shepards pie and I got the fried chicken dinner. Both were delicious and filling. All in all this place was a great find with genuine home cooking in the middle of a touristy area. Will definitely stop back after out next canoeing trip.

Foods alright. Tastes like a fast food. Naturally it's over priced due to being in a touristy area. Waitress is rude.

Erratic hours, but some surprisingly good entrees - the salads are better than most in NW Penna, and the steaks are good, and I love the roast beef sandwiches (and I don't even eat gravy). They could expand their draught beer selection, but are partially forgiven considering their interesting taxidermy bar decor. There are sort-of-separate family & outdoor areas.

Hot Roast Beef Sandwich w/French Fries and Gravy. So delicious!

This is the place for steak salads! The steak was done perfectly and was so tender. Great service and casual atmosphere.

Burger was disgusting. Service was horrible. Lack of music = awkward silence. Never go here. Ever.

Finally made it to the Forest Nook after being recommended by many locals…read more It did not disappoint. After a long day on the local trails the family was hungry. The food was great! As a bit of a foodie, I can be tough to please. The wings were as good as any you could get in Buffalo. The burger was great. Cooked to perfection. And those fries! Ive been craving those fries! The staff was polite and attentive. Of the places in the Forest that we have eaten, this was definitely the best experience!! We will definitely make this our first stop on next year's trip!!

I recommend visiting this charming restaurant located in Cook Forest…read more There is a little store adjacent to the restaurant which has really cute little homemade gifts and Bigfoot related merchandise. You select the items you want to purchase and then bring to the restaurant. Walking into the café/restaurant, there wasn't a sign "wait here to be seated" etc. or anything like that.. so we caught the attention of a waitress who was friendly and sat us at a table. The forest nook was busy on this Saturday afternoon. The patrons seem to be locals and visitors as well. The menu had something for everyone and our server was quite friendly. My boyfriend ordered the personal pizza which was incredibly fresh. I ordered the steak and cheese sandwich. My sandwich was also delicious and very filling. There were specialty cocktails available as well as beer on the menu. I really enjoyed the outside décor of The Forest Nook. The restaurant updates their hours and special events on their facebook page. They also accept reservations on their website. We had a great first experience and cannot to return!!

We went for the breakfast buffet. The restaurant is in the center of The Shiloh Resort campground. When we arrived (Saturday @ 11:00 am) there was an empty parking lot and only one other table seated. Now I was a little worried. Mid July and only one other table, what gives? I am normally the one to try and support mom and pops but I was a little apprehensive. We decided to take a chance at $6.95 it was worth a shot. And I am so glad we did. Mama Doe greeted us immediately with a warm smile. Everyone was very attentive. I loved the fact that they didn't load up the buffet pans to let items sit. Everything came out fresh. The Buffet Scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs with peppers onion cheese and tomato (and a hint of curry if I'm not mistaken), those eggs were delicious. Next sliced potato home fries with onion, perfectly browned. Thin sliced bacon (I like mine thicker, but it was ok) and savory sausage links browned to perfection). Thick sliced French toast, this was sweet with a touch of nutmeg I believe. I hope I am not giving away Mama Doe's secrets. Pancakes were light and fluffy. The biscuits were fresh and warm. The sausage gravy was ok, I prefer crumbled sausage. After breakfast, we struck up a conversation with Ray and Doe and the other patrons. Ray & Doe told us about the history of the resort. Then offered a tour of the place. It is a beautiful campground with a chapel, restaurant, main lodge, cabins, and camping areas. Right between Cook Forest State Park and Clear Creek State Park. I know we will be visiting again.
