Our first time and we Arrived before the dinner rush, yet was getting busy around 5pm. Our server Wyatt was just awsome. He explained everything as we needed to know, and has a great personality! Very attentive with all h8s tables. Our dinners came and our jaws dropped because of the size portions. The red sauce is very sweet as the Alfredo was very thick. This is quickly becoming a family favorite! Their food is delicious and the service is always good. We can't go without ordering the spinach and artichoke dip. It's divine! The entrance is very inviting. The parking isn't the best if you have a large vehicle or pulling a trailer. There is a large parking lot right across the street that is open. The wait staff seemed to be understaffed for the amount of people that are here. They did a great job for the amount of customers. We had Ravioli and angel hair spaghetti. The sauce was flavored well. The marina had more onion than I like but did taste good. The meat sauce was also flavored well. The spaghetti was a very large portion, the ravioli could have used a couple more. We got the triple chocolate and the carrot cake for dessert. Both tasted very good. The building was dimly lit at night from the outside on the Tuesday we visited and we weren't sure if it was open. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted and shown to a table. The server was friendly and had good suggestions for dinner. The cheeseburger soup was creamy and came out piping hot. Portions were large and satisfying. I really enjoyed the pierogi lasagne and there was enough to take home for a second meal. It was very buttery. My husband enjoyed the sausage and spaghetti. We took home a slice of carrot cake and unfortunately that was disappointing. The frosting was not cream cheese based as I would expect from a carrot cake. We frequent Sweet Basil when we visit Clarion. Likely 15 times a year. The service and quality of food is always spot on. However, today our server was a bit upset and copped a silent treatment attitude. It seems Rylie changed her attitude as soon as I asked for a substitute. She said I was not allowed to alter a special even if I was willing to pay for that extra. She came back after checking and said i could do so but that is when the silent treatment kicked in. Ordered the 12 oz prime rib (Saturday special) and lasagna. Both were delicious. Good portions. I couldn't finish my lasagna. Diane was our server and she was very attentive. The pizzas look good. Have to try them next time.The only issue was that the booth we were originally given had cracked seats and bugs were crawling out. We moved immediately. This place has gone downhill. The last time I got a pizza here it was raw in the center and the veggies weren't even cooked. I called and complained and decided to give it a second chance. I got a burger with 2 orders of loaded cheese fries. One for me and one for my wife. I went to drop my wife's fries off at her work and they didn't even give them to me. I got home and took a few bites from my burger before I realized it was completely raw in the center.. I threw it out. It was the first time I have ever experienced a bartender be rude to guy for asking for a glass of ice. As soon as he walked away the bartender Amber cursed him out. Amber should never be allowed to work in that capacity. The room was freezing cold. The prime rib steak had salty thin shaved steak. Reminded me a lot of steakum. Truly a one star experience for me and the guy who asked for a glass of ice. I hope that the ownership will find someone with a hint of niceness to replace Amber. Literally 1 layer of penne across the bottom of a takeout container. I had a side salad and bread. Not much! It cost $20 with tip. Do you think in the middle of a pandemic when restaurants could use all the business they can get especially when you can't sit in a restaurant. they would go out of their way to please their customers. Watch out Shippenville, because your favorite pizza hut was sneakily replaced by Sweet Basil. Thankfully, both 'specialize' in Italian food, so it's not all that different. Similarities with Pizza Hut: 1. Everything is covered with cheese. 2. Everything comes with bread. 3. The service is slow. 4. Portions are huge. 5. There is absolutely nothing you can order that would slide in under 1000 calories. Even a salad, without cheese, without the breadbowl, would come in around 1000 cals. If you come here even once, you are definitely on the fast track to obesity! Differences: 1. Prices are higher than Pizza Hut for the food you get. 2. House bread is actually delicious and light and cakey somehow, but even a slice is likely 300 calories. Overall, if you're looking for a huge dish of pasta covered with cheese and grease for under $16 this is a good choice. You can get a lot healthier Italian food elsewhere in the area (within 20 miles) though, and at a lesser cost. I won't be back unless I all of a sudden need to gain 100lbs. read more

One of the worst meals I've had in the clarion area. Only reason it got 2 stars was the fried cheese bread bowl appetizer thing was good, and my gfs pierogi lasagna she liked. I got manicotti, which weren't manicotti but just lasagna noodles folded over with ricotta in them, then smothered in olive oil and broiled until they were almost deep fried constancy. Then smothered in cheese and lacked any flavor. I added a meat ball, which tasted horrible and was pink in the middle. Not cool. Their red sauce is less a sauce than it is almost a chunky salsa of tomato and onions. The bread and dipping oil were decent, as well as the appetizer I attached a pic of. The service was not very good, I'll just leave it at that. Very slow. The worst part is this place is really expensive, especially for the area. I could have had a way better meal if we'd just driven to Dubois, and it probably would have been faster and half the price of this place. I like to try to support the local businesses, and gave this place another try after a soso first time, but won't be back again. read more

Mushroom patch appetizer was tasty with both crab stuffed and cream cheese stuffed mushrooms. Basil burger was very tasty but well done; French fries were cold and soggy. Spinach salad was gigantic! It was like a bag of spinach on a white pizza (their rendition of a bread bowl); the warm bacon dressing was very good but combined with the pizza made the salad greasy. The side salad had a bit too much cheese for my liking, but was still satisfying. I had the vegetable gnocchi in a pesto cream and I was impressed! The veggies (green pepper, zucchini, mushrooms and onion) were ​done just right, as was the gnocchi. The pesto cream was ​thinner than Alfredo and very flavorful, which was fine with me. The marinara with the appetizer was chunky, dippable and had a great flavor, and bread was fantastic! The place was really busy and rather loud, but I took care of that by turning the hearing aids down!
