First time here since the pandemic and it was very COVID friendly. They took my temperature upon arrival then asked me to write down my name and phone #. They wrote down my temperature next to my info and had protective plexiglass at each station. They do appear to be under some renovations so there are some tools scattered about but that's just part of life. read more

New management is a disaster. Thank goodness I didn't ask for a special pedicure ($45) because a regular pedicure was tough for the girl to do. They'll give you a water bottle during your stay which is a lovely touch but what you came for won't be great. That should have been my clue to walk out. Another lady removed my nail polish with a drill file and proceeds to cut 3 of my cuticles!! OUCH! Now I'm bleeding. Disaster! I live in the neighborhood, and I go to Amy's nails, which I can't recommend enough, but this nail salon was close to my house and my houseguest, who is foreign, with fairly OK English but not perfect, got basically harassed by the owner into doing the most expensive nail service here. She said she didn't want it, and didn't prefer it and felt it was too much. They originally quoted $107!! ---Saying that they didn't have Some other thing which I will update in my review. Somehow it came out to $90 for a powder gel manicure. The sign says $40. I don't know what kind of shady trickery they're pulling over there but I can tell you I'll make sure that my friend and everybody Else I know that gets their nails done about this place in the most critical way. The staff here treats the Hispanic ladies lot staff very poorly every time I'm here and they are the reason I return to this establishment. They never rush my service and they always do a fabulous job. Once they hear I am getting regular polish because I'm an esthetician, nobody but them ever want to do my nails which is a shame since I always tip minimum $20 for regular polish. Nancy was fabulous and deserves to be treated way better. I used to be a regular for Lucy who doesn't work there anymore. I got my daughter a gift certificate for xmas they said full set of acrylics was $60, so that's what I got. when we sat down they said it was $70. then I asked for a different nail tech then last time bc my daughters nails fell off in 5 days. they gave me same women. then she comes over to me to ask if she wants this or that but this is better and stronger, so she upsold on everything, but I said fine do it. her nails came out to $110.00. but instead of upwelling she should've done what my daughter asked for, she asked for long she said no to young we do short, she asked for French with black tips she said no to young we do blue ombré which I think she's ons with ombre bc she made her do that against my daughters wishes last time. I called when I got home bc we were in a rush and told her my daughter got NOTHING she asked for. owner said to come back after the new year. so I called as soon as I could but wound up getting Covid, she said it's going on 2 weeks I said I know with the holiday and work and now I have Covid. So she wanted to charge us a minimum. i said no way her nails were $110.00 I won't pay for another dime more and I wanted a full née set bc surprise they fell off again. She hung up on me! Haven't had a mani/pedi in a long time & this was super disappointing. The woman who did my nails couldn't understand what I meant by "almond shaped" or "pointed", then just started cutting my nails down anyway (I wanted them long). I let that go, but then while cutting my cuticles she made one finger bleed pretty badly. I'm pretty easy-going so I didn't make a fuss about it- accidents happen- but as I'm sitting at the drying station I realize that A) there's a pretty noticable bubble in one of my nails, and B) she charged me $3 more than the advertised price for a mani/pedi + 10 min massage. At the end she wanted to charge me $90 because I got a design. I argued with her and said there was no way I was spending $90 on nails, she then said she would give me a $10 discount. I asked to speak to a manager because $80 is so overpriced especially when I was told it would cost $50. The manager charged me $60 and the nail technician gave a rude remark for "such a low price". I've been going here for about 2 years now. They have such a wide array of dip powders colors (as well as glitters/ombre/cat eye/etc) It's really surprising to me how many places are lacking on that given how popular it has become. Jackie is fantastic I highly recommend her! Always does a beautiful job and is very sweet to talk to, however she no longer works on my one day I can come down so I now see Kim (or Ester) who is great. You can tell her any Essie color you like and she'll know the dip equivalent. Pedicures always come out nice here too no matter who does them. read more

The shape of my nails, the amount of time it took, the customer appreciation and attention, everything was excellent! Today was my second time here. After raving about this place to my roommate, she was excited to come with me for a mani / pedi. I am so disappointed. As a woman, I am very particular about my nails. My manicurist today, "Jennifer" did not pay attention to any of my requests as far as shape. Seems trivial, I'm aware, but in the end, IM paying HER and she works off TIPS! After repeatedly telling her what I wanted, and her not getting it, I picked up the file myself and shaped them. Following through with the manicure, I had gel ALL OVER my cuticles and fingertips and she left them like that! Simply clapped her hands and said "ok, done!". When it came time to pay, i gave her a $10 tip and said thank you, she saw I was upset and unhappy with the final product and picked the money up, and put it back in my bag! She put her hands in my bag!!! A BIG "no-no" in my book! On top of this, my roommate decided to get acrylic tips, the woman glued the tips on, cut them down (also ignoring her request of "shorter") and then walked away... For 25 MINUTES! After 15, I finally asked where she had gone and the manager replied with "she'll be back in 1 minute". 10 minutes later a different girl came over to finish the job. I don't get my nails done too often, but this has been my "go-to" since I was a teenager. For whatever reason, I tried a new place down the street and almost went back there, then I was reminded (thanks to other Yelp reviews) how little selection they had for gel color. I opted to go back here instead and I was glad! I show the first manicurist a photo from Instagram and she called over another manicurist for help. It wasn't complicated, just 3 colors instead of 1-2. The second manicurist helped me find the colors - while digging through a TON of samples - and ended up doing my manicure as well. I believe her name was Jacki. She was very sweet (and funny!) and spoke good English, so we were able to make a little small talk. I'm not huge on "small talk", but in this case, it was better than sitting in silence because of a language barrier. I loved how my nails came out and had a great experience. I'm not sure I'd go back to do gel again (I can't stand how it ruins my nails no matter where I get them done), but I would absolutely go back for a regular manicure. The salon itself is very large. I went in around 3PM on a weekday so it wasn't busy. I've seen it fairly busy on a Saturday morning in the past. Nothing special about the décor or appearance, but that's not something I personally care about. The place is clean and they open up all the new equipment in front of you. read more

I got an acrylic fill in with gel color and while picking the color i wanted of gel color i chose essie 42 and it was not the color it looked like once painted on nor at the end wasnt even shiny when i DID NOT ask for 'matte' , while preparing my nail before hand and buffing i was cut too much than i should've been. Now after having them done for one day my skin around the nail are red and sting when under water or when touched. Back to what i was saying though yes they did file my nail, but in the right way no ! The corners of my nails are sharp and rigid and not how it's supposed to be. Finally, the whole process took way too long for nails that i want completely off AND the GEL nail polish has ALREADY CHIPPED, i got them done yesterday and they should at least last a week or up to 2 weeks. read more

UPDATE: it's been 3 days and my nails are lifting already. this place sucks. so if I had to base this place off there pedicures alone they would have 5 stars.. i've been going there since march and never had an issue.. got me in the chair and out in a decent time frame. I went yesterday to get my nails done for my bday. I got there about 1pm.. figured i'd have enough time to run home change after and catch my 340 movie. well i was wrong. I was there a little more than 2 hours. after about 5 minutes in the chair they put my tips on.. no problem right? well then i sat there for almost an hour before they started filing and putting the acrylic on.. then came the shaping and filing, and more than once I had to yank my hand away, or flinch and say ow due to the constant filing in one spot, I left with bloody cuticals and raw skin around the tips of my fingers. If I could give zero stars that's what they would get as a rating. Initially I went to this nail salon to get a manicure and pedicure and long story short, they successfully succeeded in upselling me. However, I knew I should have trusted my initial gut feeling and ultimately I should have politely declined. They were EXTREMELY pushy and not accepting NO for an answer. Plaza Nails assured me, multiple times, that my natural nails would not be damaged- they couldn't have been more wrong. I was concerned regarding damaging my natural nails and also concerned with the strength of their acrylic powder. I explained to Plaza Nails that I work 3 jobs and I don't have time to be constantly coming back for repairs and that it was imperative that doe the most part that my nails last as least a week and a half. They promised me the moon and the stars but unfortunately all of their promises were just bullshit. Upon caving in & allowing them to do "powder nails" (minus the acrylic tip), I ended up having to come back just 6 short days later for multiple chips and breaks. So they convinced me to allow a different nail person to do them, so I agreed. This time the owner did them. She ended up filing half of my nail, width wise, completely off. And when I brought to her attention she informed me that powder dip looks better when u do a "thinner nail". So now half of my nail is missing. Not to mention that each time I have gone to have my nails done or fixed- they are filing the surface of my nail. I'd like to preface this with also stating that I am a NYS licensed cosmetologist. I just don't have the time to dedicate to doing my own nails and of course sometimes you just want to be pampered. I explained to the owner, along with whoever else did my nails, that my nails get thin and weak quickly- especially when someone is filing the hell out of the surface of my nails. I explained to her that you can't keep filing the entire nail surface each time because your nails only grow so much each week. My nails do not grow an entire nails length every week. I explained also that she only needs to file the Re growth of the nail (down by your cuticle) & then just lightly buff the surface to prepare for a gel or acrylic service. My educated insightfulness fell on deaf ears completely. I had my nails done once more by someone else on Tuesday (2 days ago).... well guess where I had to go back to today?!!! Yep- Plaza Nails. My nails did not even hold up for a full 24 hours. But unfortunately I couldn't get back there yesterday because I had to work two jobs so I went there today. Needless to say the woman was extremely rude & patronizing. In the 1st 15 minutes that I was sitting in her chair (right by the 1st door where u enter through) 2 women came in and were completely unhappy with their nail services that they had just gotten done within the last 4 days. A different woman came in with her daughter and I couldn't help but overhear her complaining how she made appointments for herself and her daughter to have mani/ pedis @ 3:30 and it was now after 4pm and they still didn't start them or take them to their respective chairs. The owner who was doing my nails and who I was expressing all of my concerns and complaints with told me that I wasn't "listening to her" and shrugged me off. After 2 minutes of silence she started to try and talk to me explaining what she "thought" I was talking about and I stopped her dead in her tracks.... my words to her, " how dare you tell me yeah, sure, ok, your right... & now u have the audacity to try and explain yourself when you basically told me to shut up!!!! You did NOT listen to me, therefore I will not even conceive of listening to YOU!" Anyway, I can't even allow myself to go any further with this review due to the simple fact that Plaza Nails has wasted enough of my time, stole enough of my money and I refuse to give them any further attention. I will never give Plaza Nails anymore of my money, time or thoughts. If you decide to spend your money here then u deserve all the stress and problems you get. Consider yourselves warned. Just went as a first time customer because 2 of my friends go there. I was very unhappy. I got a pink and white full set of acrylic and they were horrible. They were over filed and very thin. The nails were bending at the place from being so thin. When I asked them to fix it they said there was no problem. It was bending right in front of them. They then put glue on them and sent me on my merry way. Told me if they broke they would fix them. Well, not even an hour later after I left and I had 3 broken nails. I would not recommend this place at all. Kim, the owner, added glue to my thin nails and told me to come back if they break. $55 wasted. I then called them the following morning and told them what happened, they told me to come in. When I came in and showed Kim the nails, and the pictures that had time stamps on them to show her, I didn't even make it home without them breaking she just dismissed me. She was not happy that I removed the broken nails. She told me it was impossible for them to break and that I did it myself. If they were done correctly, they shouldn't have broken within an hour. She then redid my nails the next day herself, and again ignored all my requests. I asked for them to be squared off, and they were not. I asked for small white they were not. She redid my nails but again I was not happy about it. I told her that even if she thought they were nice, I didn't and I'm the customer. She laughed and said the customer is not always right. Really professional! She also was so rough that she cut my skin more than once. So to say the least this was not very enjoyable experience at all!!! . They made fun of me and laughed at me because I was unhappy with my nails. This was no way near a relaxing experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone. i am very disappointed with this nail place. my friends recommend it to me so i decided to go and give it a try. when i first got there i was waiting for 30 minuets then they started to work on me. i got an acrylic fill in but my ring nail fell off so they had to put it back on. they put on the long nail and left me sitting there for an hour so they can work on someone else (while i was waiting they never gave me colors so choose). finally i was worked on and it was very expensive compared to what i usually pay for. and i didn't get what i paid for. two days later 2 of my nails peeled off and i got gel. i'm very disappointed and won't be coming again. read more

She was doing a great job and even went out of her way to help me with polish, but according to the manager a good customer was waiting for her. The girl and the replacement both looked really upset. I've been going to Plaza Nails for several years now. I had tried someplace new for a while and quickly went back to Plaza. I have the permanent french done, and my nails always seemed to yellow at the other place. Kim uses a gel coating that is very strong and comes in several shades of pink from near sheer to a more opaque shade. My nails always seem fresh and never yellow. I love all the girls in this shop. It can be very busy and I've had to wait a few times, but for me, its worth the wait. They recently opened up for a full day on Sundays...bonus! read more
