Do not eat at the buffet. The food was almost desiccated at two different times on two different days. Horrible.

I was asked where I wanted to sit. I said that I would prefer outside. She came back a few minutes later and said there was a table available but she would have to clean it first. I said that was fine. I saw her doing other things but I waited 10 minutes before I was sat, even though I saw her doing other tasks. After I was seated, it took over 5 minutes before the server brought me water and to ask me what I wanted (no greeting no pleasantries). I ordered Earl Grey tea and a yogurt parfait. It took almost 15 minutes before it came. The food and tea were good. But the server didn't check to see if I was enjoying the food. The server came back and blandly asked me if there was anything else i wanted. I said, "Just the bill." I waited and waited and then finally stood up and walked towards the entrance, hoping to pay so I could leave as I had been there for almost an hour. I saw another server and asked her if I could please get my bill as I pointed to the table where I had been sitting. It was then that my server came up to me and asked if I needed anything else. With a bemused look I said, "Yes! The thing I asked for already; the bill". She said nothing and got me the bill. I paid while the other server was still standing there and said, "I'm sorry. We are very busy today, which was ironic as I could see at least 6 or 7 tables with no one sitting at them.

As for the hotel itself, it was clean, our room was spacious, and we never waited for an elevator. Regarding staff, I forgot clothes in a drawer in the room. Sierra was more than accomodating by holding the lost items in their lost&found and doing the extra work to parcel them up and send them to me. That should tell you all you need to know about the good people running the hotel.

The lovely K's usual haunts had not a room available, enter a hidden gem in the downtown of Kelowna. Please don't tell anyone but your closest friends. The area is filled with restaurants, pubs, coffee houses and is a couple minutes walk to the lakefront. The hotel itself has a colourful history and great B&W photo's throughout the hotels public spaces to fill you in. They did a wonderful job of allowing us to kinda check in early and then called us when our room was ready. The rooms were nicely appointed in our double Queen with a good amount of room. The bathroom is a little snug, given the door brushes the front of the toilet. The bathroom is a one person at a time deal unless you're fine with close proximity bathroom habits. The bed was comfy, which is always a big thing for us. The breakfast covers all the bases, and although not memorable, offers a good variety to satisfy most seekers of the most important meal of the day. Location, comfort, nostalgia, parking, walk ability and you have us interested. Add great staff and you have a gem overlooked. Don't tell anyone though please.

I could not believe how badly the food was prepared for this "premium" menu item. All the meat was extremely overcooked to the point of not edible. The fries were as hard as rock. We were reluctant as we did not want to embarrass our guests. A colossal disappointment and we will never recommend this restaurant.

In my room, I had two standard queen size beds, as well as a full-size couch and plenty of room to move about inside the room. There is a restaurant located on the first floor and it also has a pool. The room certainly looked a bit more updated compared to the exterior of the building. Exterior of the building definitely looks dated but the location proximity to the park/lake area as well as downtown area where there are shops and stores is exceptional as it's all within about a 10 to 15 minute walk. They also have a speed dial for the local taxi service so when I had to depart very early in the morning, it was no problem in me being able to get a taxi

We spent $2,200 for 5 nights (including a $300 incidental charge on top of the $1,900 room cost), and I was not made aware of such a high incidental fee in advance. The one positive I can highlight is that the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Unfortunately, almost everything else was underwhelming or disappointing: Room: The room did not match the pictures online. We were led to believe it had a tub, but it only had a very small stand up shower, which was very difficult with a 5-year-old. The bathroom was cramped, and the finishes (closet area, tiles, etc.) were worn and grimy. The room itself was extremely small for three people, and the furnishings were more like those you'd expect in a budget motel, not a beachfront resort. Amenities: The advertised amenities were misleading. The website listed indoor/outdoor pools, a game room, beach toys, bikes, sporting equipment, an airport shuttle, and guest laundry. There was no outdoor pool at all. We could not locate a game room or even basic game boards. The "beach toys" provided were minimal I could have bought a better selection for $10 at Dollarama. We never found bikes or sporting equipment, and were told they no longer offer an airport shuttle. There was no guest laundry on site; staff suggested going to a local laundromat. Breakfast was not included, so we ended up spending another $600-$700 eating out for breakfasts and paying for Ubers to and from the airport. Pool: My biggest complaint was the state of the indoor pool and hot tub. On the second day, my partner took our daughter swimming, and when I joined them, I was shocked. The pool water was a yellowish-green, with piles of debris clearly visible on the bottom including hair ties and other random items. It was obvious the filters hadn't been working properly for days. I immediately told my daughter to get out and shower. The hot tub was no better, though its hotter temperature masked some of the bacteria issue. I went straight to the front desk with my daughter to report the pool's condition. Staff showed no urgency, simply saying they would "let maintenance know." I explained we were staying until Monday (this was on Thursday) and asked them to please address it since my daughter had been excited to swim. Sadly, by the time we checked out, the pool water actually looked worse, not better. Overall, I would rate this hotel 2 out of 5 stars. The only reason it's getting 2 instead of 1 is because the staff were friendly and the location was convenient. Otherwise, the experience was disappointing for the price paid and not what was advertised.
