Nice place, food prices is good. Over all food was delicious. Good thing the have a restroom for customers only. 5 of us ate big meals plus 3 beers for $70. I will go again. Ordered two chicken flouta plates with a side of guacamole for the chips. Very delicious. They were ready on time. Portions were generous and the beans and rice were good too. I could not even finish it in one sitting. Guacamole was good and I Loved that it didn't have onions in it. They gave us Lots of chips and salsa on the side. My 45 year old hubby has been coming here since he was a kid. He is so nostalgic about the shredded beef tacos... which is what we always get. They are cooked to order, and so delicious. This place is always full with regulars. Nothing fancy but comfort food and excellent salsa... also they serve Bohemia beer which is one of my faves. The jukebox is fun as well. read more

My husband and I come here quite often my favorite is the # 22 chicken tacos, rice and beans my husband always tries something different and loves everything he has tried. The chips are always fresh and the servers are always friendly even the busboy. They are very attentive even though they are short staffed. We were there Sunday and there was a power shortage the busboy was so sweet he put his phones flashlight at our table so we could finish eating. I said wow we even get candle light. I don't remember there names but Thank you. We'll see you soon. read more

Been coming here for years and I don't know why I've never written a review before. It's a small, family owned restaurant. Nothing fancy or special, decor and furniture is out dated but what they lack in that, they make up for in food! From the variety in breakfast options (chorizo is my favorite!) to the caldos, tacos, chips and salsa, carne asada, etc there has never been a dish here that I have not liked. I love this place. It's authentic Mexican food. The coffee is decent and i enjoy it with my favorite dish huevos rancheros with potatoes and beans. They give a lot of beans and papas!! They serve peppers and onions and cheese on top of the eggs. They serve chips and salsa. I know not all Mexican restaurants do. And the salsa is tasty. They never serve stale chips they always taste fresh. There is only one bathroom for men and women. I prefer it when there are at least two bathrooms. I have a six year old and it's hard when you have little ones and the bathroom is busy. Lol. But it's all good. I love coming here and it's very comfortable sitting. It's not a place you have to be quiet so you actually can talk and enjoy your self. There is a juke box in the back area and that can be fun to play your favorite songs. read more

Today one of may Favorite Mexican spots let me down. ‍ today they get a 1 star for their service. Lady that took the order was rude right off the back. Then I call back to add to my order and she left me on hold so Long that I drove there and I was still on hold when I walked in and the phone was by the cashier with no one around ‍. Then she see me and ask me what I need and I tell her I'm the guy on the phone on hold and she said.... OH I'M BUSY! Hangs the phone up and ask did you still wanna order??? I was like YES ‍ she definitely has shitty customer service and can't handle the pressure of a few tables. She was busy, smh. read more

I give Playa Baja my highest recommendation. We eat here 3 to 4 times a month, sometimes more often. My favorite is the shredded beef taco place. Super delicious! You can't go wrong with any thing on the menu. Not only is the food good, but the service is beyond compare. They can accommodate large parties and also do catering. Do yourself a favor and even during Covid, since you can't eat in, order takeout. read more

Working right across the street from this place i decided to check this place out for the first time. The place is a bit older but it's cozy. I ordered the al pastor burrito and the shrimp taco. I did enjoy the burrito but i felt that the al pastor meat was just okay in taste. The shrimp taco was also kind of the same, just kind of okay. Would i come back here? I think yes, I think there are a ton of other seafood dishes in particular that i would like to try. Plus, i took my food Togo so i probably didn't get to try the food in the way i should have. Overall, I had a good experience, just not amazing. read more

This restaurant isn't known for it's ambience, but if your looking for good traditional Mexican food and you don't want to burn a hole in your wallet try it out. The Breakfast is great and the seafood cocktails are a must try, they have the condiments on the table to add ketchup and Tapatio. The chips and salsa are one of the best in Montebello. read more

I really think the food at their first location (on Montebello Blvd.) tastes better, but I usually go to this one. Why? Because it's larger and air conditioned. And oh yeah, because the serve beer. Their hard shell tacos are good. So are their taquitos and nachos and burritos. They're menudo is okay, it's not spectacular. I've never had their cocido, but my family members love it so I guess it must be good too... just not my kind of thing. read more

I have to say the salsa is pretty darn great! The ceviche de jaiva is amazing. The taquitos good size and guacamole delicious. My friend got the red snapper & she said it was amazingly good. We have been coming for years and food was ok but lately, things have gone downhill. Last month, we came in for menudo and it was so bad that we couldn't even finish it. It was tomato based, undercooked, had no flavor and our stomachs didn't feel too good after. We tried another time and had lengua which comes with green sauce and got sick!!!! Food was salty then too. We gave it another shot and came in today and service was the worst. To start off, the waitress cleaned the table with a smelly dirty rag!! The table smelled bad after the cleaning so lucky I had Clorox wipes. The carne asada was very nervy and looked like rubber and even tasted weird so we had them burn the meat thinking I could eat it and it came back so salty that we couldn't even eat it. I really wish things were different since it's local, serves beer and one of the waitresses gives us good service but too much salt and getting stomach aches is not good. read more

Traditional decor with lots of vibrant plants, colorful clay dishes, and homey feel. Service has been great both visits. First time, I got the chilaquiles verdes with carnitas. My husband had carne en su jugo, and he loved it. We both raved about the café de olla, it was served in these lovely hand-painted clay mugs. Second visit, I went for enchiladas verdes, and my husband tried the enmoladas. Again, everything was delicious. Parking may be the issue, depending the time you go. Besides that, this place is worth a try!

Dining room indoors and some seating outside, parking on sidewalk or in the small lot in the back. I got a Baja burrito which contains fried Fish, shrimp, beans, rice, cabbage, tomato, onions, cilantro, cream & salsa. Good size and very filling, I regretted ordering an additional carne Asada and a pastor taco on the side. Saved for later, the Asada was good and the tortillas are the yellow kind. Ingredients tasted fresh and I would come again when I am in the mood again for some Estillo Ensanada.
