This is one of the best Plato's closets that I've been to. I usually find something I like every time that I go in! It's super organized by brands, colors, and of course sizes. They also have a wind variety of clothes and a huge selection of really good active wear. The owner is super friendly & always ready to help out if you need! I am frequently go into this store & will be back soon. read more

Apparently Shein counts as "brand name clothing" but Nordstrom Rack doesn't.... Also, kinda funny to not take in plus size clothes when they so desperately need more of a size range. read more

I visited the Bountiful, Utah location of Plato's Closet to sell some clothes, shoes, and accessories. When I first walked in, the girl at the front counter already seemed like she didn't want to work with me to start with the way she was carrying herself, and asked if I was selling, and if I was an existing customer. This was my first time coming to Plato's Closet to sell items, and I was very disappointed. The girl proceeded to tell me a whole speal saying "So just so you know, we are very picky about what we take and we are only going to take any of your stuff if it meets our standards of what we're looking for." She was very rude about how she said it, and it didn't even need to be said like that in the first place, if at all. I spent maybe 10-15 minutes looking in the store, only for them to come and tell me that they couldn't take anything I had because it wasn't good enough quality and trendy enough. (Couldn't or wouldn't?) First off, I had four full bags of very gently used clothes. They were brand new or had only been worn a handful of times. Some items even had the tags still on them, and they still would not take them. I had a pair of shoes that were brand new, and they wouldn't even take those. The whole time, I looked around in the store, I saw many articles of clothing and other items that were in worse shape than what I brought in, and they still would not take it, and a lot of items on the shelf were not even name brand. They had pairs of shoes that were worn, and dirty, and were selling them for as high as $125, but yet my items were not good enough. I brought in a brand new $150 Carhartt Coat that had only been worn once, and they still would not take it. As I was looking in the store, they had Carhartt clothes on the rack, and they still said mine was unacceptable even though it was brand new. The girl had an attitude from the very beginning, which I did not appreciate, and it seemed like she was degrading me for no reason, almost like she was telling me that she was better than me. That was extremely unacceptable and no customer should have to be treated like that by a staff member who doesn't even know me. I felt very belittled and devalued by that experience, and I will most likely never be back to a Plato's closet ever again, if this is how they treat people. read more

Honestly, every time I come here, I have a positive experience but I just wanted to leave a name drop for Gracie. Not only did she prep a fitting room for me but while I was in there, she came with some other items that were my size and right on style with everything else I was looking at. She was so so sweet from the moment we walked in to the moment we left! I also found the cutest leather jacket for the best price, even without any points or in store credits, though I also recommend giving them your number for those. Anyway, THANK YOU GRACIE! YOURE A DOLL!!! read more

One of my favorite thrift stores EVER! Great rewards and great brands at this location, pricing is accurate as well. The woman at the front helped me and all of my friends with everything we needed and was also extremely knowledgeable about products. read more

Great finds and decent prices. Sold some stuff which I got $18 for. I like that they do that. The men's section is significantly less than the women's which bugs a little bit. No coats or big items, just shirts and pants and shoes. They always play great music. Friendly young staff. Walked out with a nice shirt and comfy workout pants read more

This store is amazing and we have a Plato's in our town that is great, but not as wonderful as this store. What makes this store so remarkable is the staff. Particularly, Hannah is one of those extraordinary humans you sometimes run into on a lucky day. I have run a number of businesses and I would hire her in a second; smart, engaging, funny, patient, and professional. I will definitely come back to this store (hoping Hannah is working) any time we are back around the Bountiful area. Laural read more

This place is not honest in pricing items at all and will lie about how they price them as well. I was told they go based off of websites like Goat and StockX. I turned in 15+ shoes ranging from Nike (Camo - Foam Posites and other nike shoes), , Adidas (Yeezy Boost 750), Converse, Vanz, Pumas and Designer shoes (Balenciaga). Also, turned in clothes from shirts, pants, and a leather jacket. Lastly also a supreme backpack. With all of this being said they will also give you numerous prices by calling you and giving you a price then making you wait then will change the price next time they call so be careful. With all the items I turned in they first priced everything at $890 then gave me a final price of $600.30 only. I personally do not support this store by any means and whoever the owner is needs to be fired. read more

Nothing will change this stores vibes until the tiny little so called 'Victim Blaming Manager' isn't there anymore. I had just got out of the hospital I've been at, and was hoping to get some extra change by selling brand new clothes I had, which are all clothes I've always got paid out for. I didn't receive my last paycheck. And here I am getting treating like our shit because I'm trying to get any extra money I can get. Everybody needs involved with this location should be ASHAMED that this is the way it's 'running''. It really is fucking ridiculous. And I've let every single person I know in the Taylorsville area to not go to this location. This location used to be great, but apparently it's just full of kids who can't let go of their ignorance and cliques. read more

I came into the store because of an advertised sale price on the road of buy 1 get 1 50% off. the sign had no exclusions, no limitations listed. After I purchased 16 items and was only given a 25% discount on 2 of the items. I contacted the store owner and Him and his wife laughed at me on the phone and said they do not have to honor their sale prices. I informed them that is false advertisement, and they continued to laugh and hung up on me. read more

Plato's Closet - Thrift Stores Near Me - Bountiful, Utah

it's dirty, smells really bad, incredibly cluttered, nothing is organized or clean. short staffed and the young girls that work there are snobs. one of the worst thrift stores I've been in. I've been to other locations and they are better, but whoever is in charge of this bountiful location needs to be replaced this place is beyond gross also overpriced. read more

I don't understand want the people at this location are looking for. Brought in a ton of cute things and they didn't pick anyone them. They wanted a pair of pants that were brand new with a tag on them that said 60 dollars and they said they would take them for 3.50. The whole store was a mess. Will go to other locations. read more

They have a way better selection than the Taylorsville store so I'll give them that. But their customer service is horrible. I came in to sell and I was in the store for over an hour and nobody called my name or texted me to let me know they were done with my clothes. I finally came to the counter and asked for my bag and one of the girls was trying not to laugh when they couldn't find my name in the system. The workers are just so unprofessional, what is funny about that? They finally found my bag and the girl that went through my bag had left so instead of reviewing my clothes again (I didn't bring that much) or calling the girl, they just assumed that she didn't take anything and I didn't get anything for my clothes. They were also selling a pair of bikini bottoms (no top) for $60. You read that right, SIXTY dollars. Just absurd for a secondhand clothing store. read more

I've been here 3 times over a 2 year span and I will not be returning. Every single time I've gone there have been mounds and mounds and more mounds of clothes all over. Completely covering the cash registers, floors, all over under the racks. They have a lot of junk and it shows because they obviously don't sell stuff very quickly- it's like an episode of hoarders in here. If you can drive further the Draper, Orem and Taylorsville are much better!!!! read more

I drove from A pretty good distance to donate my clothes, I arrived at 7:55...they close at 9. So I walk in with my bag of clothes and the employee looks at me and says are you here to sell (as if it is not obvious...) I say yes and she was like oh sorry we stop doing buys around 8:00...well it's 7:55 so. I told her I drove kinda far and she had zero sympathy and was like well we have stores all over Utah. Okay cool. Thanks for nothing. Like if you are open till nine then you should be open for all business and it's not like it was 8:55 that I was walking in. Horrible customer service. read more

Very unprofessional, dishonest, and disorganized business. I had several bins of clothes I was donating but had a few items (Lululemon, Levi's, and a pair of designer shoes my sister gifted me) that were new, with tags, and/or in good condition. So I figured what the heck why not see if I can take those five items to Plato's Closet? I literally got $42 for 3 brand new Lululemon items with tags that were each priced between $110-$169 and new Levi's. Oh yes, and they resold each for $60+. I then got $40 for the pair of shoes. But I didn't care about the grossly overpriced items in store /underpaying people for items until I got some threatening voicemails from the owner two weeks later wanting $40 back... I was polite and just offered to venmo her the money because I honestly don't care. Interesting though that two full weeks after an employee who looked at the items for over an hour and offered me $40 is not in trouble but the customer who's trusting the business is? Word to the wise just take your stuff to Goodwill or Deseret Industries - this place isn't worth it. read more

This is by far the worst place I've ever been in. There were piles of clothes ALL OVER the store!! So many bags shoved under the racks they were overflowing. Shoes were stacked so high they were falling onto the floor. The counters were so full you couldn't even see them and the cashier was sitting on top of them to tag items. The entire back corner was mounds of clothes and it smelled worse than a thrift store. So many items that we walked in and almost immediately walked out. Well worth it to make the drive to the one in Layton, where it's clean, organized, and you're greeted by nice employees. read more

See all

This location has quick service and I feel like they purchase a lot more items and styles from people which in turn works out for everyone because there is a better selection of items to choose from! I brought 3 full bags of items in, of which had already been through and another Plato's didn't want any of it, however this Plato's took a few things which made it worth while! It only took the employee a few short minutes to go through all of the items which was a great time saver! Love Bountiful Plato's! read more

Rude staff that talks trash about people in the store and what they brought in. They don't even bother to be quiet about it. I'll never be back here and will instead just donate my clothing in the future. read more

Took in well over $600 worth of brand new, name brand clothing (lululemon, anthropologie, free people) in pristine condition; they offered me $14 in cash after looking at only TWO items in the bag. The entire store was cluttered, dirty, and smelled of animal urine. I wouldn't recommend going here to my worst enemy. Disgusting store, and even more disgusting staff and management. read more

Drove pretty far to come donate my clothes here and when I got there (10:15) the store wasn't even open. The lights were out, clothes were all over the store and nobody was there. Assuming one of the workers didn't show up for their morning shift but still... bad service and the store has wayy too much going on. Clothes all over the place and there is no order to any of it. Used to love this location but it has gone downhill over the years. read more

As someone who loves shopping second hand, I go here quite often and mostly enjoy it a lot. There's always cool oversized t shirts, some jeans and cool shoes for cheap, everyone is relatively nice and friendly but a couple major points I have to bring up that constantly bothers me about this location is their general lack of size diversity. Their brandy Melville, John Galt, urban outfitters and their other trendy brand selections lacks ANY sizes above XS-S with the rarity being a medium.. my example being their size 0 section has an entire aisle while a size 12-14 has maybe a quarter of an aisle if not less some days.. And the other minor concern is how little I get even in store credit when I bring in items.. There's a lot of room for improvement here but it's still fun to look. read more

This store is exceptionally cluttered, dirty, and the smell reflects it. I'd stopped here with two huge bins of clothing (American Eagle, zara, asos, express, Nike, etc) so, average trendy mall brand clothing. I don't often expect platos to take much, but I've been here twice now and the first time the girl was very sweet but very much lowballed me on offers. The second time the employee was rude, abrupt, and didn't even look at my bins of clothing. I was there for maybe five minutes and she had informed me that nothing I had was what they were looking for. I consign for a living, so I'm used to shopping around for clothing items for my employer and I was extremely disappointed both times I stopped in to find bins or bags of clothing shoved under the racks, strewn over the counters or the FLOOR (which I found quite disturbing), stained or torn clothing being sold, or clothing marked much higher than an average second hand sale should be. Just because an item is new with tag or considered "desirable" doesn't mean it should be marked at that retail price, especially if you're going to only be giving the people who sell it to you a few dollars for the product. It should be a fair price both to the seller and to the buyer. I would very much recommend the drive to the Plato's closet in Layton, or checking out uptown cheapskate in either Layton or salt lake city. Staff at these locations are professional and nice, they give fair prices on clothing, and these stores are clean and organized (even when plato's in Layton is PACKED full of clothing, the floors are swept and clean, everything is organized, and they sort through clothing quickly). read more

I love this location, the prices are extremely low, they have sales often and always have a wide variety of clothing. I sell my stuff here a lot too and they tend to take all of my brand name stuff and give me a decent amount of cash. read more

This store is diiiiiirty! All the stuff is in very used condition. I didn't want to buy any of it. I walked in to the empty store. The teenage girls working the store didn't have great customer service AT ALL. Before I even looked around or they started my buy, they asked me if I wanted in-store credit or cash-- this seems weird to ask at first and like it would bias their buying. I wanted cash! I waited an hour (no one was in line in front of me) and they only gave me $17 for a huge bin of on-trend and nicely taken care of clothing. In the end, one of the workers said in an unpleasant tone, "uhhhm we are going to need for you to take those clothes as we don't donate anymore." So strange since I wasn't planning on leaving my bin there or donating it through the store. Go to the Plato's closet near Draper instead. They are clean, chipper, and buy a lot! read more

This is trash I went and the manager didn't even bother looking at my stuff and she said it wasn't good enough all though I gave adidas clothes some hollister some aeropostal but she judged me by my looks she just looked at me and judged me by it she's a piece of crap sorry but I'm really mad read more

Don't sell your stuff here unless you want to wait forever while a whole 1 person works. Ridiculous, never shopping here again.

Love, love, love this store, I've always had a positive experience with this store, I am currently attending beauty school and need to keep up with the latest fashions, I always find something in my size when I visit, which is 12/14 read more

This store is always so much fun! They have different clothes, boots, jewelry, and sunglasses every time I go in. I needed summer clothes for a cruise in the middle of the winter, and Plato's had plenty of shorts and tank tops to choose from. Every other store had only winter clothes out. It's clean, and the staff are friendly. Can't wait to go back again another day and check out the bargains!! read more

This place is alright for a thrift shop, customer service is alright considering theyre teenagers.

Honestly, I don't like this place at all. Granted, sometimes their product is good, but I have to sift through A LOT to find something. Their staff is friendly, but seems to be a little inexperienced. It's also not that organized, & a lot of their product is outdated and ragged, something you would use to wipe your bathroom floor with... Plus, I've heard bad rumors about the way they buy their clothes... Maybe I'm a little biased, but I just don't have good experience with this store. The layout itself makes me reluctant to even bother looking through the racks. I recommend Uptown Cheapskate! So much better, and more organized! Trendier clothes too, and they pay way better! read more

I went in with a huge bag of winter clothes that didn't fit me anymore. I had a BURTON coat and snow pants, some gloves and some shoes.
