Mark Turrisi, of Platinum Pools, is a crook and an incompetent contractor in all regards. Mark was hired, and paid, to do a brick and wood patio around a pool and replace all the pipes under the old wood deck. Shotty, unlevel brick work. Left at least half a dozen bricks around the pool edge unfounded so they fell off and landed at the bottom of the pool- tearing the liner. Dozens of boards unnailed on one side as Mark and crew missed with 75% of the nails. Then today we discovered that he had NOT replaced ANY of the old pipes under the wood deck. I can't even give this individual one star, but I have to. So please read below if you are even thinking of hiring this man. FIRST OF ALL, very rude and unprofessional. When asking for some professional responses, all I received were delays and no updates despite reaching out on numerous occasions. SECOND, I received a racist comment and was belittled for no apparent reason stating that I should "go back to Queens and hire an asian contractor" that I can "beat up" when all I did was reach out to him politely to answer my texts. You would think, for someone who talks big about how professional he is, he would have the decency to let you know that he will or will not be able to service you for whatever reason and not leave you hanging. Not only did he leave me hanging, he left these rude remarks that I have attached with this post through text messages. I was told that the job HE offered to do for me was not worthy of his caliber and that I should look for someone else because it is apparently too small for him. HE who is supposed to manage all kinds of different services for pools. I asked for an update and all I got was rudeness and disgusting behavior. Basic customer service is not present here, my gunite pool can be serviced with much better. Would not recommend this company to anyone, so please read my review and stay warned. He may have "built" multiple gunite pools, but there is no proof, there is no title, there is nothing to this man's name that would or will ever justify his unprofessional attitude. I am absolutely ashamed to see someone who is so immature and arrogant working in this field, servicing such great towns of Long Island. Don't be fooled. Mark did a great job repairing my pool. His men were there when he said they would be. They worked diligently and cleaned up after themselves. Mark was very thoughtful about the issue I was having and successfully offered a solution to insure the issue does not happen again. Unfortunates there isn't a spot to indicate negative stars. I am in total agreement with the prior reviews. Mark is a legend in his own mind. what disturbed me the most is that merchants like him exists. I also believe Mark's day will come. We had a total pool and patio renovation in excess of 40K. All the plumbing was suppose to be changed and the steps relocated. Please Pm me on face book THERESA Murphy for evidence that can't be disputed. We all know the he said/she said is not evidence unless it is recorded. I too have many emails that reflect Marks arrogance. 1. The pump was installed with the computer screen wedges against the fence which would require wiggling between the fence and computer to adjust the program. We had him reconfigure the pump. He was extremely hostile. The pump never worked properly. The water reservoir was always empty. Mark said this was normal which it is not. The pumped should always be primed. 2. The water level dropped below the skinner. He said there was a minuscule leak in the deep end skinner which he replaced. 3. Which on vacation my daughter happen to stop by and noticed Mark lifted the pavers and drug below the pipe lines. Interesting that he knew were to dig. Throughout we noted that return was not pushing water. 4. We continued to have pump and problem with the return. What we discovered that Mark connected the larger diameter plumbing to a 50 year old return. What he did when he dug up the return was repair a split in the old return. We never had a problem with our old pool/ filter 0pump system. We just wanted an update. We had to empty the pool below the returns once again. We replaced the return and discovers he used electrical pipes not water PVC both under ground and for the filter. 5. He also did the walk way without removing the existing belgium blocks leaving a wavey look. I can go on and on. We spend over 3500$ to fix Marks poor quality work. You can't put a price on stress. A lawyer and more money got the lien he placed on my house removed. Why would I pay the balance that was a shock to me. He keeps no records. Please contact me. Have had nothing but problems with Mark at Platinum pools.I do not even know where to start.This was a new house under construction and the pool was dug out in the winter.He assured me that it would not be a problem,well the whole left side of pool collapsed after the concrete was poured.Then when the liner came it was the wrong size and had to be returned.The filter he ordered was too small for the pool(this was confirmed by 2 other pool companies).Then he had to replace the auto fill 3 times over the summer which in turn flooded out my yard twice.During the season according to Mark he had his best maintenance man here cleaning the pool once a week.Half the time he never showed up and the rest of the times i ended up having to empty the skimmer baskets and clean the filter and the pool cleaner myself.So to top things off when it was time to close the pool the cover was either measured wrong or installed wrong and his answer to this problem to fill in the gap was to put a pvc tube across the length of the pool.Also as I am having pool opened today found out that he did not blow out line to auto fill and it cracked over the winter.To Marks credit he did not charge me for the maintenance.I would think twice before hiring Mark at Platinum Pools.Great guy but not too good at installing or maintaining pools. read more
