Everyone at that works at this gym is amazing- I have had nothing but awesome experiences with Emily, Wade, Gary, and Sav. The others I didn't name are only because I didn't interact with them much. Best in class equipment, if you are interested in Olympic lifting, barbells or kettlebells, it literally doesn't get better than Platform Strength. 10/10 would attend again. This is the first gym I have gone to consistently in 10 years. All of the trainers are very knowledgeable and are extremely helpful. They are the best trainers I have ever worked with. I walked in having not lifted heavy since highschool and thanks to amazing coaching (call out to coach Sav) I'm finally hitting PRs I never thought I would. I've been waiting a long time for a place like this to open! I've never seen a gym that has classes that are super focused on the barbell and heavy lifting (and no, BodyPump classes don't count!). I'm a strong believer in Emily's method and feel that it truly works (I mean, just look at her!). I currently live in the DTC area so I've only gotten to come to a few classes so far but I've loved every single one I've gone to. I always come out with some tips from the trainers, new moves, and feeling like I really pushed myself. I really wish I could come more often. The trainers are incredibly friendly and always ready with some tips to help improve your lifts. I have always weightlifted by myself with no trainer so I'm always happy to get improvement suggestions. This gym also makes barbell lifting feel very accessible to the "everyday man/woman". My one and only idea to make things even better would be to make the classes more welcoming for beginners. I luckily have been weightlifting on my own for 1.5 years. However, if I was brand new to lifting, I probably would have no idea what a lot of things were. I think the trainers sometimes assume you're already familiar with certain aspects of lifting. Maybe they'd be more hands on with someone who is truly a beginner (they normally talk to you before class to get a feel of where you are in your journey). They've recently added a class called "Platform Prep". This class is for teaching the basics so I think this will really help with the issue. But still wanted to throw my thoughts out there! This is 100% a five star gym and is worth the 30 minute drive from DTC. I highly recommend trying a class out. If you're on the fence, follow them on Instagram. You'll get a great idea of what to expect as they post very often. I just went to a class today and I already can't wait to go again! Side note on amenities: they have a shower with shampoo/conditioner/soap, wifi, a sauna, and they are open 24/7 for members. Membership is a bit pricey but I'd say it's worth it since you wouldn't need other memberships anywhere else. You'll get all the variety you need here. Sorry for the extra long review! tl;dr: BEST GYM EVER! As someone who has done all sorts of physical activity through the years (Crossfit, MMA, Ironman/triathlons, regular ol' globogyms), I've seen good and bad. Having been out of the workout game for 2 years due to work (and laziness, let's be honest), I was fairly intimidated walking into a new gym. Platform Strength immediately felt like home. All the coaches are phenomenal about explaining the workout in detail and making sure that you have proper form throughout the class. Beyond that, they make it FUN! As I continue to get back in shape, the coaches and community here at Platform Strength are what keep me coming back (especially on those days I want to be lazy). I'm addicted to this gym in the best way, and it's because of all the wonderful people and fantastic programming. Do your own thing, do a group thing, do a coached thing...do it all?! You've got options, and if that's overwhelming, they offer a free week for you to figure it out! The peeps who run this place are inviting, patient, funny, and neck-deep in good morals overall. They lift you up at your worst, celebrate your best, and bring an intimate sense of community to an often intimidating space. The gym itself is a gorgeous design and layout -- complete with a sauna, several Olympic lifting platforms, and even a weather-permitting rooftop for workouts and gatherings alike. Don't know the dog policy other than they're totally welcome inside if they aren't dicks! Epic Gym, the coaches are incredible and the community keeps it vibin! Coach Savage is exactly that, a combo of super steez and muscle blended with some enthusiasm. Gary the PowerHouse is a baller who motivates with passion - not to mention the guy can bench 6000#. George brings the THUNDER both in and out of the gym, with a collegiate strength coach history and a historic hair flow all in one. Oh wait- did you want a confidence boost from a genuine hype man who just so happens to crush tri's for a hobby?? Cool, then Wademasta Flex is your man. What a team! This gym is amazing! Wonderful atmosphere, attentive and educated trainers. I have been to many gyms in the Denver area and have never felt so welcomed by staff and members. I've seen results in my strength and endurance in a very short time frame. This is NOT a cross for gym!! Whether you're seasoned at strength training or don't even know what a barbell is, Platforms Strength's biggest strength (no pun intended) is that it's welcoming, accessible and approachable to ALL! The trainers are not only personable and fun, they are highly trained and very knowledgable about the body, form, strength coaching and mobility and can help any level student navigate any lift, and anyone with injuries modify for their body. The class formatting is routine so that you know what to expect, but offers a variety of options each day, depending on how you're feeling and how hard you want to push yourself that particular class. They also start each class with a "question of the day" which helps to lighten the mood, loosen everyone up and strengthen the community. And on the topic of community, all of the members are just as welcoming as the coaches. It's a truly inclusive, friendly and inviting place to be and it doesn't hurt that Improper City is right across the street, so plenty of post-workout group hangs. : ) Since I've been a member at Platform I've seen such a difference in my form, strength, confidence with lifting and have started the (slow) journey of changing my perception of "fit" and what an "ideal body" should look like. Before Platform Strength, I was a dumbbells and cable machine only girl. I was intimidated by the bar and afraid of messing up my form. I've seen more gains in the past two months at Platform than I ever saw by myself. Not just physically but mentally as well. This place motivates you to do better every class and as you start to track your goals, you'll be amazed at what you achieve. It kicks your ass everyday and I've never left a workout feeling like I didn't get the full value of the membership. The coaches are so encouraging and they are careful to watch your form, provide tips and spot you. There's truly a community here and as someone that is relatively new to town it's so refreshing to be around weightlifters that aren't so serious all the time. I joined Platform Strength in March 2019 and could not be happier. My old gym (Pura Vida) had recently closed, and I was looking for a new place to work out. The entire vibe is excellent, and the staff is especially friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoy the wide-range of people that routinely come to the classes and have developed friendships since joining. The workouts are intense, which is what I was looking for. The programming is also very good, mixing heavy lifts, dynamic fitness, body/region specific days and general fitness days. A truly welcoming and awesome gym experience! After doing CrossFit training for 10 years, experiencing adrenal fatigue, migraines, and a handful of injuries, I took a year of recovery and then last year began slowly bringing back in lower-intensity, controlled, and thoughtful workouts. However, I worked out on my own quite a bit and missed the community that came with my CrossFit training. At the same time, I didn't want to pay for a gym where I would have to alter the programming. That's when I found Platform Strength. Here, I've had the opportunity to dive back into working out in a community setting, with options that specifically suit my needs (there is typically a strength piece followed by 3 accessory options). The weights you use are determined by you (what is heavy for YOU, for example) and the programming and coaches really do meet you wherever you are at on your fitness journey. On the rare occasion that I do need to alter a movement, the coaches are extremely knowledgeable and are able to guide me towards something that works for my body.
