What you will find is a little oasis of rare and exotic plants to greet you. The selection and quality is next level, with plants you simply won't find anywhere else, fair warning some come with a price-tag to match, but there's product at a price-point for everyone here. My daughter is in her plant era and loves coffee so when I came across Plantoem, it seemed like a no brainer to take my teen daughter. This shop is located off of Waialae on the 2nd level. There's a small parking lot but it gets busy/full so it may be worth finding street parking nearby. When you enter the shop, you're greeted with literal floor to ceiling plants of all shapes, sizes, and colors. It felt like we stepped in to a plant heaven and we circled the shop several times to try and see it all. The women there were friendly and helped us with our plant selection and when we made our choices, they gave us care instructions to help us keep them alive. There's also a cute little cafe located in the back with a selection of teas, coffee, and some pastries. My daughter opted for the hibiscus tea and a muffin. The hibiscus tea was delicious and refreshing. It's open air and no a/c so it can definitely get warm so dress accordingly. Located on Waialae this woman owned biz literally Just takes you away for that much needed deep breath and do your own thing. Go in and take a seat surrounding yourself with the beautiful greenery large and small...it's amazing! My favorite place is gazing out the window and this visit was sipping on a refreshing cup of Iced Hibiscus Tea, so light yet flavorful with Rose and Orange Peel you already feel one with nature. I don't have a green thumb and have failed with air plants and I "suc" keeping succulents but absolutely love plants and here they do give fantastic advice and with that have taken new friends home and one at work which I gaze at from time to time making sure it's getting all my love. This place is now a not so hidden gem. When I visited for the 1st time last year it was a secret urban garden oasis. This time it was bustling with business and I couldn't be happier for the small woman owned business. There is a wide variety of reasonably priced plants as well as a small menu of drinks and baked goods. I sampled several drinks but have yet to try any of the baked treats...maybe next time. The drinks I tried were the lavender spritzer, Yerba Mate, green tea w/lemongrass and spearmint, and hibiscus tea w/rose and orange peel. I loved the lavender spritzer! It had a slight carbonation and a lovely lavender undertone that was perfectly sweetened. The Yerba Mate was a whole pot of hot tea made to be shared amongst a large group of people as it has a high caffeine content. It is a popular drink in Argentina and is often drank in place of coffee. Zoe was kind enough to give me the info and explained to my son and I how to drink it. He was so excited as he had learned about this tea in his social study class. The tea tasted very...earthy, lol. I didn't care for it but my son liked it. I had to remind him not to drink too much because of the high caffeine content. The green tea w/lemongrass and spearmint was very light and minty. I ordered it without sweetner and enjoyed it. Zoe said the hibiscus tea w/rose and orange peel was very citrus forward and recommended some sweetner. It was so good! It reminded me of a fresh fruit punch. I've been to this place as part of an event last year. I was in the area. One thing I remember was their Lavender drink last time. It requires a little acquire taste, but refreshing. I ordered it again! There's no other place that has this that I know? However, they have a mini coffee shop in the back. The ambiance is quiet and friendly, a replacement place for me to hang out undisturbed. The plants are healthy, lush, pretty, and green as can be! The price for certain plants and terrariums are spot on, but other's may see it pricy. Only those who struggle to get their plants at this level of quality can appreciate. You can't get plants this near healthy at Home Depot, Lowes, and/or Walmart. At the other establishments, you will find that they carry some fungus or bugs which will have an affect of your existing plants at home....causing infestations. These ladies really invest time.....really invest time in the care of their plants. I had questions and were given great advice! I don't drink coffee and good teas are not easy to find. I do believe Plantoem has the best tea, particularly herbal teas in the area, if not in Honolulu. I often stop by here to have tea after lunch with friends for talk over tea and relax. I usually order hot tea in pot and share with my friend. Plenty to enjoy for 2. Reasonably priced in my opinion. (It's not regular bag of teas, you know) It's also nice to have plants in the front of the store. Highly recommend! read more

We were exploring around Kaimuki and stumbled upon Plantoem. It was located on the second story, just tucked to the side of a ramp to reach an upstairs parking lot. Definitely a hidden treasure! It was really aesthetic inside with a wide variety of plants all around on the floor and hanging from the ceiling. It was almost like stepping into a mini jungle being surrounded by the greenery. All of the plants were available to buy, as well as different planting tools and pots etc. Located just past the plants was a small coffee bar and a seating area. The barista was really friendly when we came in, and was patient while I decided on what drink to get. I ordered an iced honey matcha latte. It came out shortly after ordering and I could tell that the barista had taken care to make it. The matcha was prepared really well. It was light and balanced with the oat milk with just a hint of honey to compliment it. A very refreshing drink! I recommend checking this spot out! read more

Plantoem is a find! I almost walked by it because you need to go up the parking garage ramp (there are stairs) to the 2nd floor parking level. It is a gorgeously kept plant store with many varieties already put in a cute pot and ready for you to add to your home. The owner is knowledgeable and can help you find the plant you are looking for. They have a little cafe in the back with tables for you to enjoy your drink. I had a lavendar spritzer - loved it! They only had muffins and apple turnovers which probably bought from Costco...Apple turnover ($6?)was too soft so I think it took some days after they got them. One of my favorite gems to visit! The plants are absolutely stunning...breathtaking! And they have one of the best matcha lattes and cappuccinos on the island - in my opinion. They also specialize in really yummy herbal teas and host fun activities during the week like poetry slams or crochet for beginners. The service is amazing, the employees and owner are super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I highly recommend Plantoem to all plant lovers and cafe aficionados. I came by with a couple of friends to check out this place, we looked around for a bit, checking out all the different plants they had, and then went to order some drinks. My friends got their iced matcha honey latte, whilst I got their iced hojicha maple latte. I do think that their prices for the lattes are a little steep, but I understand that prices for food and ingredients are rising. The reason for the 4 star is that while we were waiting for our drinks we were just browsing the store and looking at the plants one of their workers was constantly staring us down like he though we were going to steal something. Which I don't really like, it made us feel super uncomfortable to have eyes on us the entire time we were there. read more

First time going into this store and I was super impressed. I was looking at plants I haven't seen before in other plant stores/nursery. I don't know much about the Alocasia species, but I really wish I was given a warning before purchasing these beautiful plants. When I was approached by an attendant, I told her I knew nothing of this plant as I've never seen it before. She told me about how it needs indirect sunlight, don't overwater, and room temp the plant thrives in. Later, when I brought them home, I later discovered through reading on-line that these plants are actually toxic especially to small kids and animals. Sap is toxic so must wear gloves while handling them or else can cause itching, rash, and redness on skin. If ingested, can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, inflammation in throat which can cause respiratory issues. I was like, whaaat. It's a good thing my kids are a little older, so they won't touch it if I say not to, and don't gave pets. It would've changed my mind from purchase. They were $68 each. I probably would've bought another plant that was non-toxic and kid friendly b/c I have friends with small kids. I would've given a 5 star instead of 4 if it wasn't for this issue. read more

I love the selections she has at the shop, some plants you can't find at the other shops. You can find some of the same plants that the other shops have for example cebu blue pothos or lemon lime philodendron, her prices a bit more bit she gives you more plant for your buck which I like. The plants that I've bought so far are healthy and no bugs. Even if you don't buy any plants you can stop buy a grab a coffee and pastry. I accidentally discovered Plantoem after failing to find parking for Champs (sports bar downstairs from Plantoem). Plantoem is hidden from street view as it is located on the second story of the building next to the old place where you could get chocolate pyramids (was it called JJs?) Drive up the ramp or walk up the stairs to find an oasis of beautiful plants of many varieties. Plantoem is a word that is a combination of "plant" and "poem" - I see no difference in both words as plants are nature's poetry. Yesterday, I bought a Chinese Money Plant (Pilea Peperomioides) after asking Shannon for three options under $50 that aren't terribly difficult to keep alive. I bought the plant and beautiful pot for it to sit in for $40. In the café, I had a delicious cheese pastry and prickly pear cactus tea (at least that's what I think it was called). If you don't get anything from the café, at least check out the art on the walls by Sarah Farris. Next level proteas! Zoe/Zoey has informed me that they have open mic poetry nights every third Thursday of the month. 8/18 is supposed to be live jazz and poetry night. I won't be able to make it but hope to see you in the future! read more

This spot is so cute! It was a little hard to find initially since it's upstairs off the parking lot and Google makes it look like it's off the street. They have a great design and I love the plant shop-coffee shop idea. The cafe is in the back and has some seating. Lots of great plants and beautiful terrariums! What a diamond in the... cubic zirconias? So many great places in Kaimuki, but nowhere with as many beautiful healthy plants and a cute little cafe! I've been following them on instagram for awhile and wanting to go, but my days are quite busy. In my head, I was comparing it to The Mellow, on Ashbury St, in San Fransisco, however that's a bit more extravagant, and for good reason... it's on Ashbury in San Fran. We came to study, but found it difficult to focus, at no fault of anyone's control. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, the lavender spritzer was refreshing, the banana muffin was big and tasty and the service was very friendly. The little shop was wonderful. The staff was super friendly and gave me sup great suggestions on the drinks. They also sell some plant books as well as neat little arts like paintings and stickers. I enjoyed walking around the front of the shop to look at all the different plants. Those who like plants should check this place out. Parking is located on the second level of the structure. It's a one way in and one way out for cars so be sure to make some room when a car is on the ramp. There were many amazing plants for sale and seeing the little mini eco systems in the bottles. The little cafe located in the back of the shop with a small seating are is so cozy. I ended up getting the Hibiscus Iced Tea Sweetened and the Coconut-Pineapple Muffin. The drink was very floral, and tasted really good, it went really well with the muffin. The muffin was sweet and filled with texture of the coconut flakes and pineapple bits. Super moist and not dry, it was such a good pastry. I sat near window, so you get that fresh breeze. Their dining area was cozy and airy. I also love that they are caring for the earth. The cups that they use in their cage is biodegradable. They also have eco friendly utensils and use reusable plates. Such an amazing shop. read more

Open until 7pm with FREE AND FAST WIFI, Plantoem is a trustworthy spot to swing over to (them other coffee shops do be closing early!) Other perks: easy access public restroom here (a critical piece if you enjoy sipping on coffee while working like me). Also, dog-friendly! It does get a lil steamy up here, but nothing unmanageable with their open windows and power fans generating substantial airflow. While I'm mostly here for the vibes, I particularly enjoy their iced teas **Cactus Pear Tea** and **Lemon Spearmint Green Tea**. First gained interest on this place after seeing an Instagram post about it. They have a large variety of plants and all very well taken care of. The girl working that day was very helpful and answered all of our questions about the types of plants, their characteristics, and their ideal environment. I loved this plant shop. My girlfriend came for the plants and I came for the hidden cafe in the back of the store. They had a large selection of plants and you could tell they were well taken care of. The employee there today was very knowledgeable and helpful with both coffee and plants and I highly recommend coming here for a cappuccino. ***We had a little bit of trouble finding the place. Love the idea of this little plant plus coffee shop. Beautiful plants and nice sitting area with selection of local art. Latte wasn't bad, although was disappointingly luke warm. Baked goods ok - the quesito was like a cream cheese Danish. She said it was just baked but I think because of the case it was in the pastry was a bit moist, instead of crispy/flaky. The other items are made by Honolulu Baking but come in plastic bags. Scone had good flavor but not great texture. The lavender spritz was great. Lots of lavender and not oversweet. I wouldn't return for the coffee or baked goods but would come here again for a tea and the nice ambience. Note you can't see this place from Waialae but it's directly across from the Kaimuki Superette, you just have to go up a ramp beside the CPB. read more
