His location was a bit out-of-the-way for our company and took us about a half hour to drive to (which is not a distance we normally travel for dinners/activities). On the way there, some people were complaining about how far away it was, but THE MOMENT chef tre started talking with everyone there was zero additional mention of the drive (and it wasn't mentioned again a single time after the fact). Each group was provided a mystery box of chicken thighs, and mahi-mahi for protein. We also had broccoli, orange, marmalade, rosemary, and black beans. We all had fun, laughing along with Tre. The instructions were given to us in easily digestible portions with our facilitators making certain we were all doing what we should. Each step flowed seamlessly into the next with us creating delicious treats we were proud of. I was honestly surprised at how adeptly they handled a rowdy bunch like us and managed to keep us on track without any of us feeling as if we were being taught. Unfortunately, the ovens were not working properly, so our macarons for our whole group of 11 people were all either under or over cooked. Mine were extremely overcooked. They were very hard and chewy. For $79 this is unacceptable. They could have offered us a replacement class or a pickup order of new fresh macaroons, but we were simply told "sorry, it happens sometimes". Everyone else has such great reviews and photos on Yelp, so I'm really sad I did not get that same experience. I totally understand that things happen, but for $79 I expected edible macaroons to take home, and instead I got hard rocks that needed to be thrown away.

She was quick to respond to my questions before the event. Chef Rose greeted us at the door and welcomed us into a fully prepped kitchen. Chef Rose got to work, putting us to work. It was AMAZING. We made the most amazing meal, and we learned so much as well. My husband is a foodie and loves to cook, so I was slightly worried he would be like this is lame. NO WAY - Chef Rose and my husband chatted about olive oil and spices... Chef Rose helped guide me with tips and tricks in the kitchen. I would take several more classes and we plan to! Chef Zach provided us a wealth of knowledge on the different types of cocoa (dutch, natural), how to know what's happening with your ganache, how the proportions of liquid to chocolate impact it, infusion of flavors, talked about how best to incorporate ingredients depending on the way in which you choose to do so (by hand, mixer, or food processor) - just a pleasure to learn from and talk to! I'm the baker in the house (although my husband makes amazing souffle's) and I walked away with tips and and tricks that I will definitely be using in the future! I loved seeing and using some of the tools that I didn't even know existed but will definitely be purchasing for my own baking. Case in point: many years ago I made a lamb cake for Easter. Growing up, my grandmother had always made one and I thought it would be fun to try. My young adult children at the time, named my creation a "Rat Cake." I can see how they might have come up with that. I used chocolate sprinkles as whiskers and now that I think about it, I don't think a lamb even has whiskers! :-) For the past couple of years I have gone to Cake Carousel for help in picking up the needed supplies to make a decent looking Easter lamb cake. My result has not been laughed at so, I'll take that as a win! Their tub of whipped buttercream is perfect! Not too sweet, reasonably priced and it spreads on great. They have precious candy flowers that instantly elevate your cake. The grandkids even had fun helping me decorate! I love this tradition that I'm able to carry on with my own grandkids, just as the happy memories I have with my grandmother so many years ago. Cake Carousel makes it happen!

After picking our pottery and paint choices we waited 10-15 minutes for the girl helping us to revisit our table to retrieve our paint choices. Once she finally came back and asked if we were done she said she would be helping another table before us because "they asked first." I didn't know we needed to walk up to the front and say we were ready for paint... Previously they've gotten the first round of paint for us and then we get refills ourselves as needed. We were not given a bowl of water for our paint either. If the staff was busy or overwhelmed I would completely understand but most were busy talking to each other at the front. Bathrooms were filthy as well, muddy shoe prints ALL over the floor and even a paint sponge sat in the sink.
