With that in mind, I think that for the size of the city this zoo has a lot of potential for the size of the city and has improved significantly in the last few years. I recently visited the El Paso Zoo for the first time in 15 years and was amazed as how much it has changed. Compared to other zoos, their prices are very reasonable and I like that they also offer military and senior discounts. We visited on Super Bowl Sunday and it was absolutely perfect! The place was not super busy and since it was a little chilly all the animals were super active. Some of our favorites were the penguins and the meerkats. One thing to keep in mind if you visit very early is that all of their stores and vendors are still closed so it does take a few hours for them to open everything up. They also had some sections of the zoo closed up for renovations but not too many. Frankly it was nice to see that they are working to improve the living conditions of the animals. Overall, we had an amazing time and will definitely back next time we are in town.

What really stood out about this place were the unique animals - There's a lot to see from the Chihuahuan Desert, and other nearby regions. Each area is also nicely organized by Africa, Asia, The Americas, etc. There were a few places closed due to renovations but I'll assume that's because of the time of year. This zoo is pretty great! We added some more fish and we wanted to start getting the lighting right for coral growth. We do have an older light fixture and replacement bulbs were hard to find. Joe and David were able to get us the good light we needed. Tank look so much better, and we hope to do more business Scenic Cove. They have a beautiful selection of multiple coral and fish! Both times now he arrived on schedule, when he said he would, and is professional, polite and knowledgeable. He really seems to care about the well being of my fish. My goldfish tank is not easy to keep clean. Goldfish are notoriously dirty, and they are getting kind of big. The tank really has a hard time keeping up with them, and the water here is very hard. I was finding that it was too much for me to do it myself. Robert is a lifesaver. He knows exactly what to do and the fish even seem to like him. They seem less stressed when he cleans the tank than when I was doing it. I definitely plan to keep using Robert to maintain my fish and highly recommend him.

However, my recent experience with the grooming services at the Petco on Montana Avenue in El Paso truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, I was genuinely wowed by the level of care, attention, and one-on-one customer service my dogs received. The groomers were kind, patient, and clearly attentive to my pets' comfort, which made all the difference. You could really feel that they took pride in their work and cared deeply about the animals. I honestly wish I had known sooner how much the experience can vary between locations, because I would have gladly driven the extra 25 minutes to this Montana Avenue location instead of going to the Northeast location in the past. Every coral and base came broken. I spent an afternoon supergluing corals and the company sent a…read morenew base. All 5 of the bases have cracks and float. After days of filling with water, they sort of sink but never level out. The top bases 1. Do not match up qith the bottom bases 2. Tip forward or backwards and do not stay on top. I tried glue, putty, tipping the bottom bases different ways- nothing works because the top and bottoms bases do not even close to match up (and float.) Finally, the paint is not durable. If you wash them,you will have white corals. For the $1,200 I spent on these, I am highly disappointed with the quality. They are FAR worse than the $75 one I got at Petco. They have 2 functional jobs: sink and stack, and they fail at both.

We have been a part of the TNR program for just over a year and we find it very content in doing what we can for the organization. I was in the area and decided to stop by P.B. to check it out. My original destination was to be PetSmart, but chose P.B. since it was right there at the intersection of Sunland Park. I walked in and it seemed nice. They had exactly what I was looking for, to include a round scratcher with a ball for the Cats to play with. They even had replacement circles for it. I was happy to find them as quickly as I did, but I have to say it was the staff that helped me out since I did not know the store. The Cat section was actually pretty small in comparison to other stores I have been to over the past year. They did, however, have an Aquarium section. Now this is where the 2 Stars come from. The Live Freshwater section was not designed well, there was not a large selection of anything for actual products, and there were no Tanks available to purchase other than a couple off to the side on stands. I have been an Aquarist for over 40 years and as a hardcore expert, I was sad to see the lack of professionalism and design of this area. It's as if the store did not want to sell anything. Most of the products available had dust indicating they had been there for quite some time. I did manage to talk to the Staff member that took care of the area and after having a long discussion, she felt that management did not actually care about the Aquarium section as if they wanted the section to not exist. I felt sad for her because she had solid knowledge and ambition to make her area perfect, and profitable but was unable to do anything. I hope Pet's Barn takes an honest interest and renovates the entire section to offer great products and Live fish. The only other option is to remove it completely because at this current time, it looks like Skid Row.
