Beware of this place. After a one day socialization evaluation visit of my 22 month old Australian Cattle Dog mix Siberian Husky family dog, they refused to board my dog. The reason they claimed my dog was repeatedly jumping on/against the rock walls (not on or over) the rock walls are 8 feet tall, and the chain link fences are at least 6 feet tall. That's their reason for refusing to board him due to a concern he might escape by jumping over the rock wall. I asked if in future I could bring my dog here for another evaluation they said no once he failed there is no second chance. I explained that at my home all my neighbors have dogs so he is accustomed to jumping against the rock walls, and he cannot jump an 8 foot rock wall. However that explanation wasn't good enough for them. I was polite to them, but agitated at their explanation and there were other customers present who should have heard this conversation too. I still had to pay the $20 fee. read more

So. This is the one and only place I'm fully comfortable with boarding my fur child in all of the El Paso / Fort Bliss / White Sands / Las Cruces areas... I literally drive over an hour out of my way just to drop her here before a trip! Boarding facilities: take note! This is what you all need to be like! They look like a weird little space tent on the side of Dyer, but don't judge a book by its cover! Walking into other dog boarding places around here, you just about get blown back out the door by the smell of animal (dogs and cats and urine and feces.. ya know?) no matter how "clean" they are. Not here. You can tell they actually keep it clean! And they give tours (let's me know there's nothing to hide) They make you sanitize your shoes before walking back, so you know they actually care about cleanliness and the health of their animals. The facilities are awesome, the animals are given adequate sized "rooms", and they aren't just kept in a kennel all day! They're given lots of time to play throughout the day, and the staff actually pays attention and plays with them too. You can pay a little extra for one on one / puzzle time. At the end of their stay, they get report cards! The staff uploads pictures of them and gives an overview of their demeanour throughout the stay! I never have to worry whether or not my pup is in good hands. By the time I pick her up, even though she's happy to see me she's not always ready to go home! They're a little more expensive than a lot of the other places around here, but it's worth it! (They give military discounts) My only complaint is that they used to have a full time grooming service, but they've since stopped. I'd love to see that reinstated. read more

I always use this place when I travel. They take a good care of my cat/dog. They make sure our pets stay healthy during their stay so if you want to check their facility, you'll have to sanitize your shoes before you step in. Also, they'll email you a report with some pictures to let you know how they're doing. They do grooming as well and they do a really good job. (I think it's like $60?) Second review. After boarding services. My dogs spent a few days here while we were out of town. They've always stayed at home, with a pet sitter, and I was a little concerned to leave them somewhere other than the Vet. After our last trip, when my Saint Bernard got bored and chewed up my new Pottery Barn recliner, I decided staying home was not an option. At least not for her. I was very impressed with the level of communication I experienced. They called me first to ask if they could add wet food to their dry food, since neither of my dogs were eating. When that didn't work for one of them, they called again to ask permission to add rice to the food. Both dogs were allowed to share the kennel and I was happy they got some playtime outside their usual environment. I was very impressed with their groomer. She also provided open communication as to what I wanted for the dogs and accommodated her schedule so that we could pick them up early. She was even able to cut the Saint Bernard's nails - the Vet wanted to sedate her last time he tried. Both dogs came home clean, soft, and smelling amazing. Wouldn't mind taking our third dog, a miniature Eskimo mix, to her instead of Petco. Overall, a great experience. Definitively using them again. read more

Wonderful kennel to bring your pets too, the staff really loves animals and takes GREAT care of them. The staff is professional and caring. The faculty is located quite a drive for us but it is well worth it. We have found no better in El Paso. The cost is a bit high but worth every penny. We have been using them for the past two years. This place just opened so they are still putting the finishing touches on everything. I have been watching the progress of the building for the last few months and finally got to speak to the husband of the husband/wife owner team. Real nice guy and both he and his wife are retired military. She had these type of dome buildings where she was stationed(forget where) and so it just made sense when it came time to build The Pet Barracks. There are separate areas for dogs and cats, in different buildings actually. The dog kennels are really nice and pretty spacious. They all have an outdoor area and there is a huge astroturf area outside. I'll update this review once they are fully functional. read more

This is a pretty cool concept (fairly new to me as I have always just used the "buddy next door" method). Also, they got me hooked by calling it a barracks, which appeals to my cold Army heart. So this is a boarding house? Kennel? I don't know what the technical term is for it, but it is a place that you can take your pets (dog or cat) and let the play for the day, get groomed or even stay the night... for many, nights. I am not sure the exact prices (you can call though and be told everything from their super friendly staff). What I do know is that you can call or go in and set up appointments. You can drop your guys off for a "day care" kinda thing, which is what I have done with my pup. I wanted her to get MORE play time in, and this place was perfect. Dropped her off at 0700 and picked her up at 1830... she just played with other dogs all day. Well, not the entire day, but for a few hours at a time. They try to match your pet with similar pets of size and behavior. That way they can all play happily together and not get into any fights. They also have groomers on site, and during that block I dropped her off, we had her groomed as well. Again, I forget the price, but it wasn't bad. It was very fair for what services that were provided. They also board animals overnight, or for several nights. For example, I have already booked my cat for 28 Jun - 10 Jul. They offer a military discount, and I wanna say after it is all said and done, one cat, 28 Jun - 10 Jul, was right at $162. Is that expensive compared to other kennels? I really don't know, as I have never used one before. But what I do know, is that I have visited this place, and dropped my dog off here twice for a total of 27 hours or so, and I am very comfortable with the facility and the staff. I am confident that my animals will have the best experience they could have outside from just being home with us. Make sure you call though, and ask about vaccinations. So, it was annoying at first, but when I thought about it, I actually agreed. What I am talking about is; my dog was up to date on shots, so I bring her in to drop her off for the first day care visit. Well, this place (I hadn't been told previously) requires certain vaccinations to be current within 6 MONTHS, while the vet of course gives the vaccines annually. I was of course frustrated because it was 0700 on a weekend and its not exactly close to my house... but after I thought about it, I was more comfortable knowing that this kennels vaccines requirement was MORE strict than the vet.... hey, just means my pets will be in a healthy environment. That's fine by me. The vet I go to opens at 0900 anyways, walk in basis... got the shot, had the dog dropped back off by like 1030. No worries. But make sure you are up to date ... call and ask. I like this place and already have a booking for the near future. I will continue to use this place both for day car / play date services, as well as overnight boarding. Didn't even make it through the tour before I took my dog and left. We told them she gets nervous around other dogs and their website seemed like they would accommodate her needs. We asked to do a tour during the social evaluation and they had her in a kennel between two insanely aggressive and loud dogs with one trying to literally get at her through the chain fencing between the kennels. Then we were told the dog on the other side would bite - then why tf are they being boarded if they're not safe? Hard no. Would never leave my dog there. I'd probably pick her up with an entirely different demeanor - she's the sweetest dog & I didn't want her getting corrupted by the poor care here. read more

She was also kind enough to give my family a tour of the facility. Tania, sprayed our shoes prior to entering the pet living area. I cannot say enough good things about this place and the staff here. I moved back from Austin to El Paso and was worried I would never find a place as good as I had in Austin. THIS PLACE IS BETTER! It is so clean and they have plenty of staff who actually spend time playing with the dogs. They post pictures on Instagram and email pictures of your dog playing. I have 2 dogs that I bring here and one is a real timid baby but I get pictures of her with tail up playing with other dogs. If you have a cat, the cat area is awesome as well and each cat gets to roam the entire cat room on a rotating basis for an hour. I hesitate to post this review because I am worried they will have so much business I won't be able to get a reservation. Update 6/25/17 - Just picked up my Babies again today after a 10 day stay. Another awesome experience. This time my Moms cat also stayed and came home healthy and happy. I love this place!! read more

We have been bringing our dog here for doggie daycare for over a year and he loves it. He always comes home worn out and usually sleeps most of the next day. We have also had to board him here on several occasions. It is great to know that he is getting taken care of by people that really enjoy their job. The facilities are very clean. Too bad you can't give ZERO starts. I was so disappointed in my experience with Pet Barracks. I have two dogs. We are new to the area so I relied heavily on the reviews that are listed here. I took the dogs to be groomed with the instruction that I wanted them shaved with a schnauzer face. Where we had lived before we would have them cut this way and it was so cute. When we got the dogs back they honestly looked like the had a trim but not shaved. I said that I basically got a bath and a trim. Just disappointed. It cost me $86 for them both to be groomed...which is so expensive. I sent an email to the company to express my disappointment. I wasn't asking for my money back I simply stated that I had seen a lot of great reviews for this company and I was disappointed. About 10 minutes after sending the email I get a call from the groomer and she was so upset. I had to cut her off because she was going off on me. (not professional) She proceeded list all these things that she had done and tell me how wonderful she was because she went the extra mile. While appreciate her work on the other parts honestly I didn't ask for all the extra stuff...I simply asked for my dogs to be shaved with a schnauzer face. She got what she wanted, her money, I didn't get what I wanted, plain and simple. I won't be going back to this place not just because she didn't shave them like I wanted but because of the unprofessional way I was treated after I expressed my disappointment. Simply could have called and said I am sorry you were not satisfied with the cut but I did do . . . Had she called and been professional I would have just moved on but it really has bothered me all day. Not only did I pay a lot of money to get my dogs groomed and they weren't groomed to my expectation but I had to be treated really poorly in the process. I took my kids who are a 5 & 4 yr. old shih-tzu dogs. We felt very comfortable leaving them because of the great pet-loving staff. The owners are just amazing people. I just picked up my dog Bella after having here there for 10 nights and I could not be happier with the service they provided. I first learned about them through a news report on kfox ( http://www.kfoxtv.com/news/news/pet-barracks/nTByN/ ). I just moved back to El Paso temporarily from San Angelo and while looking for a kennel for my lab I could not find one that gave me the sense of security I had back in San Angelo. I decided to give them shot seeing as i liked that it wasn't in the middle of major traffic areas and the fact that they help vets with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries is a subject close to my heart. From the moment I dropped Bella off they gave me great service. While I was out of town I received emails with pictures showing me how my dog was doing and happy she was. When I picked her up this morning they gave her a complimentary Kennel bath and she was so happy she wanted to stay and play with all of the workers rather than come home. She smelled and looked great and most importantly she was happy and continued to go with the workers rather than flee them. This has by far been one of the best experiences I've ever had with a kennel. And I will definitely be recommending them to my friends and will take my dog back to them. read more

Been taking my boxer/terrier mix here since last April and I have to say, this place is amazing. Super friendly staff, amazing hours, open 365 days, and they keep the kennel area spotless. Every time I take my Luca to stay, I can breath easy knowing that he's being taken good care of. The staff is constantly posting pictures of the pets running around in the play area on their Facebook page, so you may see your pet! When I drop him off, he always runs in and I almost have to carry him out when I pick him up, because he's so tired from playing! I also love that they don't have a breed restriction against bully breeds (so hard to find that these days). Highly recommended. Little on the pricey side but you get what you pay for :-) read more

I have been taking my King Charles here for little over a year. I never had any issues with the service that we recieved. I would even surprise visit off of my usual times and would always find not just my pet, but all the pets being played with and looked after. They keep a schedule on individual pets based on treats given when requested, feedings when requested, and play times with interactions of the staff. The staff learns who plays well with each other in order to make the experiences the best possible. I also have left my pet with them for many days and nights while I go on vacation. My King Charles is always kept looking as good as when I leave him. Any of the food (if there is left overs), treats(if any are left over), toys, and bedding is always returned. They just started a dog grooming service and I am going to see how the groomer works her magic. I'll leave a revue on that once it is completed. I will compare the service to Pet Smart grooming. read more

This is a wonderful establishment and I really enjoy taking my "Sammie". I really trust the care they provide. They treat your pet as if it was their own. The prices maybe higher than others but is not bad as I trust my precious pet will be in good hands. The establishment is sanitary and not smelly. This is my preferred kennel. Was looking for a new groomer and after reading a lot of reviews decided to try the Pet Barracks. Excellent move on our part. The Staff is very cordial and the facilities are really clean. LuLu the groomer did an excellent job on our lab. AND they don't have any wire kennels to hold your dog in while waiting. They have access to part of the daycare/kennels and our lab wasn't stressed at all from his visit. Definitely worth a drive to the NE to have them take care of your "prized possession" ! read more

I would prefer to give ZERO Stars! I dropped off both dogs for a 6 day stay. I wasn't excited about the prices but decided it was worth it since they had such a high rating. I toured the facility and dropped off records before hand. I explained to them that one of my dogs has separation anxiety and will jump a fence. They stated that would not be a problem. So the day I dropped them off I was confident they were in good hands. Not 20minutes after I left I received a phone call that my dog had a gash in her leg after trying to jump their fence and they needed permission for vet care. I said of course, the receptionist then said oh wait let me call my manager. She called back and said that I had to come pick up both my dogs.(as I was about to get on a plane!!!) And that my dog was a danger to herself and they could not handle her. I was shocked and caught off guard. We had planned this stay for weeks! I asked to speak with the manager but she was suddenly unavailable and not in yet?!? I rushed to pick up my dogs. Confused and concerned as to why the "best" boarding facility in El Paso could not board a dog that they were very clearly informed had separation anxiety and escape artist qualities. Why was my dog left to escape and INJURE herself within the first 10 minutes of her arrival?!? I arrived to pick up my dogs and had to WAIT for them!!! Still no phone call from management. I had to desperately ask friends to watch my dogs so that i could still make my flight! This was a HUGE HUGE inconvenience and was dealt with soo unprofessionally! I am extremely frustrated. This facility is NOT at all dependable. Have a back up plan if you want to board your fur babies here, they are not equipped to handle ANY abnormal situations. They ask you for an emergency contact so you can have that person handle it for them. You will NOT have a "peace of mind" if you leave your pets here. read more
