The new Colorado Springs,CO location was well, dismal Dirty water, empty tanks, stressed sting rays, walls too high for for anyone to actually 'touch' and hard rock walls. The Parakeets experience was a sad small box room, uncomfortable. The big tortoise (2) were kept in a very small enclosure without anything but straw , we hope they don't really live like that on the daily!? Only saw two snakes, were the other reptile enclosures even filled? So lound in there you couldn't hear whatever the employees were saying with a microphone. I moved to El Paso last summer & have been looking for activities to do with my boys this summer. A Google search brought me to Jungle Reef. The staff was a 10/10. Each of them took the time to have genuine interactions with my boys and share all about the many animals and how most of the animals are rescues. I have to shout out Austin. He took the time to make the interactions with the snake so good & made my boys less scared of it. For the price, it was well worth the visit. We were in there for over an hour and easily could have stayed another hour or so if my boys weren't being restless. There is a lot to see and do, more than I thought we would see. Admission was more than affordable for all that they offer. And you can buy tokens ($2.50 each VERY affordable) to feed different animals and participate in different animal interactions. Staff were very kind, welcoming and informative! We were greeted with friendly faces right away. Breath of fresh air... The facility is clean and spacious. Thankfully for us we visited at the time of day that it wasn't so busy. So we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We were able to visit with all of the animals. Our kids absolutely loved it all! Took my daughter here for the first time about a month ago and we really enjoyed our first time. She is 8 and loves animals so this was a perfect spot for her to visit. All the staff were very kind and super knowledgeable, they took the time to answer all of our questions and not rush us along. Animals seem to be treated well to me, they were actively cleaning enclosures while we were there and everything looked clean and well maintained. We spent about 3 hours in here and could have easily stayed longer had we not gotten hungry and left for dinner lol. read more

Jungle reef is somewhat expensive for a small acquaruim, but it is a fun experience. They have a lot of unique animals. They also have original exhibits and animals that I normally wouldn't see at similar places elsewhere. The best part is being able to pet the sting rays. I almost gave it 4 stars, but the aquarium is very small. That being said, the entrance is not cheap, which I understand cause taking care of animals it's very expensive. But I also didn't like paying for tokens to feed the animals. Plus, you have to pay extra if you want to explore with the animals one on one. Buy the time you finished. it gets very expensive. So I highly recommend you pay for regular admission. On the positive note, I love everything it's hands-on. You get to explore and touch the different animals. That's a lot of fun, and the kids love it. They have a small petting zoo that is included with admission, so that's a good thing. I know the aquarium just opened. It's extraordinary to have something like this here, finally! For a big city, EP lacks kid interactive learning centers, so I loved bringing my 4-yr-old today. I had a ton of fun too! They pack a lot in a well organized area. Bravo to the team, everything was well thought out, branded, and decorated! I felt encouraged to engage with the animals. Keepers were around to help us and make sure animals were safe too. The mermaid, omg can't wait for a whole team of mermaids! It was magical when she pulled over the waters edge to say hello to the kids. The wait was an hour, because we're all excited about this and IT WAS WORTH IT! (Remember, Disney rides are long waits and here we are in EP petting sting rays. PLANNING TIP: I suggest letting a grown up take the kids to Monkey Rock (only a 3 min. walk thru the mall) while another grown up can wait in line (in TikTok heaven--with headphones of course). Enjoyed the aquarium, however, customer service is at an all time low. The cashiers (all that I encountered) were rude and very unfriendly. We were in line figuring out the waiver on our phone and were rudely told to move to the end of the line. I explained that we were finishing the waiver and she told us we were in the wrong line without explaining where we should be. Once inside, the woman at the pet barn counted 10 people to enter. My 2 children entered and she would not permit me to enter with my kids. Who would not allow a parent to enter with their young children? I told her I needed to enter with my children and she was visibly upset by my request. She opened the door and I squeezed in because she refused to open it all the way. The aquarium itself is a nice little venue and reasonably priced. Customer service is lacking BIG TIME. Have patience, you work with children! read more

I was impressed by the caring and compassion of the staff. I have a background with exotic animals myself, and they were more than happy to take the time to explain the care of their animals. I was able to see the bond between the porcupine and Ted, and hear about the training they are doing with the wallaby from Jesse. I enjoyed the antics of the otters, and was surprised to see a giant tortoise walking among the guests. They showed us how they fed fresh squid to the sharks. This really got the nurse sharks moving around! Upon entering, I was able to feel a ray swimming in the water! With an exhibit like this, I think you get out how much you put into it. There are plenty of friendly staff around that you can ask questions. what kind is it? what does it eat? where is it from? how long does it live? how do you take care of it? Do they make good pets? is it freshwater or saltwater? It might be helpful if the exhibit had signs about each animal on it for educational purposes. Then people would know what they were looking at. But overall, it is worth the time to explore and learn about. read more

Nati and Alexis provided lots of information about the animals and the care they receive at Jungle Reef. It was like having a personal tour guide. My family and I fed the birds, fish, rabbits, otters and the porcupine. This a small but well kept aquarium here in El Paso. If you have kids, this would be a memorable experience. read more

Horrible service and horrible staff! We went because we visited the place sometime before, but it was just before they close. So far that time we enjoyed the place so we decir to come back for experience it fully. Worst mistake! The ladies at the entrance were awesome, but so much for the keepers inside, they ignore the visitors and are just wearing and listening their AirPods all the time. The lines for the animal experiences were really long, and were the keepers let one group out, they took their good 20 to 45 minutes supposedly so cleaning and getting ready for the next group. I do not want to go to a place just for wait in lines whine the staff is playing dumb because of their laziness. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

The concept is good, the execution...not so much. The space is small, and it's all very dark. It is loud and crowded, very likely overstimulating for the animals. I felt badly for the animals, because the enclosures seem so cramped and limited. There are gorgeous birds that have no outdoor air. Even lizards need more space than these seem to have! The "Farm" area was actually heartbreaking...a little duckling alone in a wooden box with no water to swim in or view of the sky, little goats that were hovered in a corner behind a structural board to avoid the people, bunnies with patches of fur missing. It was honestly really distressing to see animals intended for outdoor, open-air life "living" in those conditions. Last but not least, the hygiene conditions, for both human guests and the animals, is questionable, at best. I am sorry our family paid money to enter this business. We brought our 2 year old and 1 year old to Jungle Reef today, 8/15/24. It is advertised as a touch aquarium and also has a petting barn. The "keeper" in the petting barn had just told us that the wallaby Jupiter sometimes playfully jumps, when all of the sudden Jupiter jumped up and clawed my 2 year old son in the face, on both sides. While I was holding him and waiting to leave the barn, Jupiter jumped up on me and swiped at my son's legs. She has super sharp claws and nobody warned us of that or we would have never let our babies in the barn. Even after that occurred and we were waiting to make an incident report, they were continuing to allow children into the barn with the wallaby. The owner was professional and refunded our money, but we feel that the exhibit poses a risk to children and we couldn't keep silent. Jupiter clawed him right across his eye and could've damaged his eyesight. This is very serious and something needs to be said. read more

We were excited to bring our kids here, and ended up leaving disappointed and underwhelmed. To start, several of the displays were closed. The otter enclosure was drained due to having just spayed and neutered, according to a sign. The attendant at the bunny display sounded angry when shouting basic directions at the kids. The petting zoo and bird enclosure stop running 1hr before closing, so lower your expectations if you choose to attend in the evening. Not to mention, they let a group of kids into the petting zoo after they turned us away because they were allegedly relatives of an employee. Did they also pay $60 in entrance and token fees, I wonder? That leads me to the tokens for feeding and entrance into the aviary. We purchased a certain amount up front and they ran out of food at multiple stations. The only redeeming quality is the animals themselves. The kid had a great time, but they were also oblivious to the establishment's shortcomings. I love that El Paso is getting places like this, but they seriously need to up their customer service and not close attractions until closing hours and keep enough food for feeding and/or not charge so much for bird feed and fish food. read more

As far as aquarium's go it was very underwhelming. There were some long lines but it went fairly fast. The touch tanks were also pretty deep and the children I was with struggled to reach and they were ages 10-13 years old so not babies. The "petting zoo" was anything but it had a small chicken in a cage, a tortoise, three bunnies that were asleep, and two goats that were hiding. Also the feeding tokens are horrifically over priced, 4 tokens at $2.50 each equals 4 pieces of lettuce. The employee that took the exchange was very rude. I understand how stressful the job could be but when we are there for an experience and pay extra for more experiences and get treated as if we are trash there is a problem there. This has potential to be a great place that this area can enjoy but because of these reasons I won't return. read more

To whomever rates 5 stars to this aquarium thing. Obviously and apparently you have never been outside El Paso or a decent pet store. The entrance price is 14.99 Its very high for what the aquarium offers, and the size of it. There are extra charges if you wish to do extras like petting otters at $29.99 This is ridiculous. Plus additional pricing for tokens at the register if you wish to have those of about $3.00ea. And the list goes on. So be prepared to pay hefty price for a marginal aquarium. The aquarium would fair better if it had better attractions for the price. The cashiers at the front become confused and jumbled up when It gets crowded. They are also the cashier to the tiny limited high priced inventory gift shop. This makes it worse when there are long lines to enter. As the cashiers are also cashiers in the middle of helping you enter the aquarium making the process arduous along with Prior to entering the jungle reef they force you to sign a waiver, which you must download to your phone. The app doesnt work quite well, one spends over 20 minutes trying to get it to work. I was with my large family group, and more than 5 of us had a situation with the app where you enter the phone number and the app keeps coming back giving you the message enter a valid number. After entering the only phone number we have which is valid several times, it finally lets you in. Bottom line take your family to the ZOO for the price, you get better quality, more out of it, and it lasts longer. Compared to other major cities this aquarium is .05% of 100% of a real aquarium. read more
