I recently took my cat here to get neutered. As they suggested, I got there early and was one of the first people in line. While I was dropping my cat off and going through the information with one of the vet tech and going through the procedure information the vet tech made me feel like he was just trying to sell the additional options for surgery such as the IV fluids. I didn't feel like he was concerned with my cats health, he was concerned with making a sell. Plus he kept looking at the papers...he didn't seem very knowledgeable about the services they offer. The follow up care was great. I really loved that they called later on in the day to see how my cat was doing. I got another call about a week later but I missed that call. They didn't leave a voicemail so I'm assuming they were calling to see how my cat was doing. Another thing that wasn't a big deal is that they told me my cat would probably pee on himself. But I truly wasn't prepared for how soaked in his own pee my cat would be. I googled things to do to help my cat and learned that I can't bathe him in water for a few weeks post neuter, so I bought a waterless shampoo and cleaned his tail and legs but stayed away from the surgery site. This mobile vet service is a great idea, I love that they go to different parts of town. I would take my cat back to here but I do plan on looking around at other options because I don't like that I felt peer pressured to buy things I can't afford. I absolutely love the vet techs at the mobile unit. I have 2 elderly dogs and each time I take them to the unit, they have been caring and gentle with my babies. The techs are knowledgeable and they care about animals. My fur babies receive their shots, get their teeth cleaned, and get check-ups at the mobile unit. SO unorganized! My first time, I came right at my appointment time and waited for about 45 minutes to get in with the vet. Decided to give them another chance. My second time I came right at my appointment time again. Waited AN HOUR AND A HALF. Another woman waiting with me went up to ask the receptionist how much longer the waiting time would be. "Um, I'm not sure right now, I'll let you know". Another 10 minutes with no word back. We both ended up walking out and I will not be back. Not sure if they have a staff shortage or just suck at scheduling. But whatever the issue is, they're not giving the impression that they care to heal your pet anytime soon. read more

If I could leave more stars, I would. We have had a lab mix for 13 years. Our other vet told us his neck mass was nothing to worry about. Well, it grew to the size of a cantaloupe. We thought the worst was surely upon us. All other vets wanted to charge us a lot up front just to see him. We heard great received about Paws N' Hooves. The vet, Dr. Starr and her staff were amazing. They took him in, assessed his needs, and gave it to us straight. They were upfront in costs and outcomes. They kept us informed the whole time and they saved our boy. They sat us down and explained what happened, what his care needs are, and gave us great instructions. They took the time to answer all questions and make sure we were ok. His mass was a cyst that needed to be drained and now he's home recovering without the mass. He may have some time to go until he's recovered but at least he's on his way. I can't expresses my gratitude enough for what they did. Their customer service is superb and they treat your furry friend like family. They have gained two new customers now. read more

I heeded the instructions to show up very early in order to assure myself a spot. This a discount service, so I was not expecting the best customer service, at least in terms of waiting time. I got there at 8:30 on a day they started at 9:30. I was second in line after a guy who waited till 7am. Once they open, they will separate you into two lines: one for surgeries (neuter, spay, tumor, etc) and the other for vaccines. The surgery line is attended to first because the dogs are put in cages to wait. We are instructed to return later. There are typically not as many surgeries, so the vaccine line did not take over an hour if I remember correctly. The two vaccines my other dog needed were cheap (under $10). The prices here are unbeatable. Even the surgery is only $65 an hour, about a third of the prices in normal vets. I'm a broke college student so this discount is well worth standing out in line for an hour or two, especially if you are combining services. I'm glad this is an option. read more

The Mobile clinic is affordable for spay and neuters, but any other services are expensive. You literally have to wait in line from 5:30 am just to make sure you get a spot on their list of 10 surgeries. Most of the staff is friendly and helpful. But be careful not to be overcharged for all the extras they try to sell you on. I took in an older stray that looked to be in a fight, the male vet was wanting to do fluids, antibiotics, shots, tests, xrays, etc. I said just do the antibiotics right now, and the feline aids test, that's all I could afford at the moment, only for the TECH to tell me in detail how bad the poor animal really was, based on his age and condition, he would have no quality of life, she said the best thing for this animal would be to put him down. I agreed, unfortunately she was right, and I didn't want to see him suffer. She was very caring, I appreciated that very much. They still charged me for antibiotics, the test and fluids even though the poor cat was euthanized. I felt taken advantage of financially. Lessoned learned. read more

Dr Porras and Dr Starr are amazing! When I came back from being in the military I brought my lab to them. My friend recommended them. They took such great care of my lab up to his final hours. I was so impressed by them and their staff that I will only take my other two dogs there now. I'm not easily impressed and I'm quite critical when it comes to patient care but they really are amazing and my dogs love them all I wouldn't go anywhere else!!! read more

I took my dog to one hospital for getting massively sick from a recalled brand that family dollar still sells and the first hospital helped but they referred me to here because they're cheaper and after spending most of my day here, in the end, even after I told them my story 3 times. They chose to insist that the tests I had already taken for parvovirus was a false negative and chose to dismiss my explanation to why he was sick since he was perfectly fine before I gave them the new dog food brand. Lastly, if I chose to let them keep my dog at their clinic, during the weekend, while they were closed, and I let them choose to treat him for parvovirus then they would have treated him for the wrong thing and my dog could have died. When I got home, I treated his infection with the medication for his stomach virus and he is already doing better. They need to train the people who work here to listen to their clients and not dismiss them like they have no idea what they're talking about because if I listened, my dog would have gotten worse. The only thing they did right was sell me an ointment to ease the irritation to his anus. They could have costed me my dogs life. Please be better at your job. read more

Horrible!!!! Customer service...MY Pet got kennel cough after getting the preventive shot....their explanation was that it was a reaction to shot!!! THEN why are we spending $$ to prevent....waited 4 hours to get vaccines...then had to RETURN a week later due to kennel cough....and they HAD the AUDACITY to charge me AN EXAM fee again!! MY DOG the kennel cough at their MOBILE VAN....he is not exposed to other dogs nor goes to dog park...where they TRIED to place the blame....SHAME ON THEM....spoke to Office Manager LIZ after I got home...she was useless. read more

We've been going to the mobile clinic for the best 2 years for our 3 cats. They've been very courteous and fair with their service. Perhaps the most noble experience has been with our old cat, Sophia. She was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer that spread to her lung. The veterinarian on the mobile clinic was very compassionate when she delivered the diagnosis and we were able to prepare for our old baby's passing. They gave us medicine to ensure she would be comfortable and gave us their number if we ever needed to call for any refills or emergencies. A month and a half later we realized that our poor old cat was suffering and we made the decision to put her to sleep. We took her to the standing facility and as a walk-in they saw us. We did have to wait, but we didn't mind since it gave my husband and I more time to spend with our baby in her final moments. The veterinarian explained the procedure and was very empathetic. They gave us time to grieve and the staff was very sweet and kind to us. A week later we received a condolence card from the clinic and the staff all signed it and made it personal. That was the loveliest touch and it brought tears to my eyes. This is the kind of service that really shows you that a clinic truly cares about its clients. Thank you Paws N Hooves and Mesa Veterinary Clinic for making our experience a good one. We will continue to bring our other babies to this clinic and encourage you do to do the same. read more

I visited this veterinary a week ago, I trust them and left both of my dogs. One of my dogs come back injured from one his legs. Before leaving my dogs with them, I talked with the manager in charge and they told they were gonna give me a special offer which they only had at the mobile vet only IF I LEFT BOTH OF MY DOGS., That was the deal. The clinic staff helped me find a cat to adopt. I'm from El Paso but live in Maryland and my boyfriend has never had a cat before. He had a lot of question about the care and I spoke to the staff to help ease him into the process. We've adopted a cat from El Paso now but are looking for a Vet in the Maryland area. I decided to call the staff at Mesa because they are so easy to talk to and they helped me prepare a set of questions to ask our potential vets/clinics. Came to them to try and save some money on my dogs spay. Was quoted a lower price than my vet so I decided to have the service done here. When I picked up my dog actual price was almost $100 more than original estimate of $150-$170. Actual vet was not available to speak to me in person about the extra meds that they told me she needed and would not release her without purchasing them. I took my rabbit in to get neutered. When I called into the Mesa Street Clinic that paws and hooves is affiliated with to ask if they saw rabbits they referred me to Dr. Starr and the mobile clinic. The woman I spoke to over the phone was a little unsure of prices and quoted me a price of $130 for the rabbit. This was still less than other vet clinics in the area that saw rabbits quoted me. I checked on their website and saw that on Thursday June 25th there was a discount on all neuters for their anniversary celebration so decided to take him on that day. The women on the phone said they don't take appointments and I should try to get there early. Well day of I had a little trouble finding the place due to my own lack of familiarity with the area where they are on Thursdays. I got there right at 9am, when they start actually seeing animals but didn't have a bad wait. By 9:45 I was on my way and was told they would see my rabbit as soon as possible due to the fact that the trailer is hot and rabbits are quite sensitive to the heat. The surgical technician who did the intake was quick but not rushed. He answered all my questions and told me about the risks of this surgery on a rabbit which can be greater than on larger animals. After consenting they told me they would call me when they were done. I got a call right at noon telling me that my rabbit was all done and ready to be picked up but I wasn't able to get over there until 1:30. By the time I got there they brought my rabbit out and he was already alert and active in his carrier. The assistant answered my questions on aftercare thoroughly and my end cost was $76 dollars with the discount for that day, so just over half what I was quoted. All in all it was a great experience, my rabbit was eating as soon as I got him home, and even though I kept him in his large cage for the rest of Thursday by Friday he was back to hopping all around the house like nothing has happened. His stitches are all internal so there is no need to take him back unless something is wrong. The price was definitely great especially as some of the other clinics told me that even though they offer discounts on neuters at certain times it wouldn't apply to rabbits because they are exotic animals, Paws and Hooves didn't even mention that being an issue and applied the discount without me bringing it up. One tip for those going for the first time they accept cards for payment but have to add a 3% surcharge, no big deal for me but if you're looking to save every dollar you can prepare to pay in cash. read more

This was our first time taking a puppy for his first exam to Paws N Hooves. The customer service was superb in our opinion and the staff was knowledgeable and experienced. They also get a big plus for being able to connect with you as a pet owner, and not just simply being friendly. I noticed some complaints are about wait times, but how can you expect to receive individualized attention and professional help and advice any other way? We all leave our cars with the mechanic for a day or two when something goes wrong, yet we expect a vet or a doctor to immediately attend our pets and resolve the issue. Everyone has a smart phone, I suggest you be prepared to use it with the millions of apps and online access you have. Read something, learn something, entertain yourself with something, but please, don't be lame and complain about wait times. I'll take anything else but wait times as a complaint. This is truly a first world problem. read more

Second time in two weeks tried to take pet for shots, first time left after three hours with very few before us. Today we signed in and another family who supposedly signed in earlier but now showed up happened to be next. Fine but then she called another family member with another dog and the assistant that obviously knew them, took them in before us. When we brought it to their attention, they tried explaining it away and said how they would see us before that dog. Of course after I brought it up to them. Not professional staff at all and apparently not a professional vet if they allow their employees to act in this manner. Will never use this vet again and will make sure everyone I know is aware that this place should in no way be used or counted on for the health of their pets. I went to the mobile vet today for routine vaccinations for my dogs. When I looked on the sign in sheet. When name was crossed off, as having been treated. Two hours later. I again looked at the sheet. No further names had been crossed off yet at least 10 other people had been seen prior to me ever being called. This is the most inefficient operation I have ever seen. Apparently if you know someone or are friends with someone, you will be treated in a timely manner. Otherwise, you shall be ignored until they have time to get around to taking your money. I wish them luck in the future is that we've will refer all friends and family to another veterinarian for services for their pets. Having had my pets treated there before I expected the same service that I had received, obviously, the staff has changed and the service has deteriorated to an unacceptable degree. A good idea, with poor staffing is a recipe for failure. read more
