My husband and I come to this restaurant quite often. The man who is always working knows my order. I see regulars come in every week as we do. The food comes out very fast even when they are busy! Service is great, he fills the water up when it often. He does not talk a lot, if you need something it doesn't hurt to ask. The pho is good, I like the soup here. The portion of noodles is generous as well. They have all the sauces for the pho and their bean sprouts are pretty fresh. My husband gets the lemon grass spicy chicken. He says it is not spicy. It comes with a big scoop of rice as well as a side of salad with dressing. It also comes with a small side of sweet sauce. Not exactly sure what it's for. The price is decent. Not too expensive. Our bill usually comes out to about $10-$22. Over all my husband and I like this place a lot. It saves time from driving into town and dealing with the traffic. My hubs and I go here almost every Friday. Great pho, apps, and especially that lemongrass chicken banh mi. It's reasonably priced too. My only constructive criticism is that sometimes the owner is pretty loudly listening to music or YouTube while we are there and is a little slow on drink refills. Not a horrible thing, just causes a bit of a dip on the service side. We will always be patrons! read more

Our first time to try. We were excited as we heard good comments on their Pho. I ordered the chicken pho. Sadly the chicken was so dry I picked it all out and couldn't eat it as I was choking on it was so dry. My husband ordered the brisket pho which was good. We had the spring rolls. Those were tasty. Its located in a tiny strip mall, so it's a little hard to find from the street. We walked over, but from what I could see parking would be an issue. Place wasn't very crowded but from what I overheard when someone came to pick up their order that's unusual. Then again it's the weekend before Christmas so people were probably out shopping. We all had the pho with rare steak. It came out quickly and was very tasty. Just what I was looking for on a rainy day. The fried spring rolls were nice and hot and crispy. You'd expect service to be a little better since we were the only ones in the place, but we were never checked on, nor was water refilled. We also had to go and find the server to pay our bill. I love pho! Will drive distances/take an hour train ride/ or even walk miles for pho (Vietnamese noodle soup). Planet Pho is located in a small plaza a few shops down from Frost. It's kinda tucked in the corner. If you're driving by it's easy to miss. I lived a few blocks away and didn't know this place existed until a few days ago. Parking is limited. I arrived around noon. One other person dining at the time. Even with the huge windows it's a little dim. Clean area. Not much of a welcome but asked to sit anywhere. Ordered 1) Spring Rolls appetizers 2) 31 Pho Meat Combo. Comes with Rare steak, well done flank, brisket, tendon and beef ball. The Pho arrived first. I enjoyed the various choices of meat and generous sized portion noodles. The broth was ok. Could be stronger. The spring rolls were delicious. Comes with lettuce, noodles and a sweet chili sauce. Didn't like that it arrived when I was almost done with the pho. The food was good but other factors left me underwhelmed. Three stars. read more

Thought for sure there was an error so went in to check the menu, prices on the menu plastered to the window were whited out, so walked in and asked. She said prices went up, $21.50 for chicken pho! I was very happy with my number 52 and honestly I will go back again in a heartbeat and for me it'll be a lot easier because now I know where to park and how to walk over! So what make this place not get five stars based on the food! the chicken was cooked perfectly. The cold vermicelli noodles were perfect! The meal came with everything that would typically come in the spring roll. Including some delicious perfectly cooked spring rolls! delicious!!! This was probably one of the best things I've had since I've been here on the island. Unfortunately the service was sub par:( The waitress was nice enough and our food came out in a timely manner. However we were not checked on and our water was never refilled. The restaurant also seemed a bit dark there was a TV that seem to work perfect but was not turned on. NAH..I'm on that "see something say something"vibe. Granted the last 2 visits we've come, our order has been correct but in February, our food took an hour to come out.. actually everyone's food took a minimum hour to come out! this poor guy working for Bitesquad had to wait over an hour to retrieve his order which from the sounds of it backed up every other order he had that night. "OH No more mango" What does that even mean lol 1st! it's summer and the height of mango season and 2nd.. if you don't have any Mangos why is it on the menu or why wouldn't you tell them it's not available!! We felt so bad for them! She was completely rude.. They handled it quite well by still offering to pay for it. The lady that runs this restaurant does her best to her ability to accommodate everyone during peak hours and non peak hours. I've never have had an issue going here in the past three years. Ridiculously overpriced! We just paid 45$ for two VEGGIE/tofu phos....no meat, just veggies with 3 slices of tofu. And it was TO-GO. I thought I read the bill wrong but no...They even asked if we wanted to add a tip at pick-up.... This is our go-to for pho!!! Veggie pho with beef broth is what we order most, but everything we've had here is delicious! Sometimes I order a green papaya salad to have for lunch at work the next day and it's always so fresh and delicious! Definitely a must if you like a little spice in your life. The food is ok but the place is an unsightly mess. We brought visitors from Canada and it was a tad late on a Sunday afternoon, so our options were limited. We noted good ratings on Yelp so figured it would be worth a try. The place left me with a bad feeling regarding their sanitary conditions. To start, the place is cluttered with items for sale near the entrance and cash register. This is a bit of a turn off but I can go with the flow. The clutter continues at the table. There is a lot on the table when you arrive: soup spoons, sauces, napkins, chopsticks, etc. I suppose that helps the waitress so she doesn't actually have to bring these things to you when you need them. But as I say that, I feel bad because while I really dislike a crowded table - especially with things I didn't ask for - the waitress was really sweet. Perhaps she needs for all items you might possibly need to already be on the table? She was alone as far as I could tell, so maybe. Still, these items sit there and get touched by loads of people and I just prefer for my utensils and things to come to me clean from the kitchen. Which brings me to the kitchen. The bathrooms are located in the back of the kitchen. You need to exit the restaurant and hook a right into the outside entrance to the back. You then look around for the bathroom and in doing so notice a mess. I was mortified because while the bathroom itself was ok, the back kitchen area leading to it was not encouraging and I know my visiting friend is freaked by such things. I kept hoping she would not need to go to the bathroom before she had her food or it would have been all over. Luckily, she ate first and used the bathroom after. The waitress (owner?) was really kind and sweet and she did a good job. I ordered the vegetarian pho and thought it was decent. Nothing amazing, but the broth was nice and I cannot complain. But I know I can get good pho in many other places whose clutter and cleanliness does not bother me. Would generally speak more about other things but I feel I would never return here due to the conditions I don't feel are up to par. I will leave it at that. read more

This review is long overdue. I use to frequent this place with someone close to me. At the time, we were both vegetarian/vegan and ordered exactly the same thing every time we went.. Vegetarian spring rolls.. tofu pho with veggie​ broth. One night we went in, placed our order. This particular night our spring rolls smelled and tasted funny, so we immediately spit it out. We called the young girl over (she was maybe 16/17 years old and she was always super sweet and helpful to us) and told her that there was meat in our spring rolls. She apologized and brought (who I assume was her mother/the chef) and the mom basically tried to tell us that it wasn't meat, that it was tofu. We are not dumb, we know what meat looks, smells and tastes like. We told her we know that its meat and she literally stood there and pleaded and swore to god in front of us that it was tofu. The daughter knew that it was meat also and was tugging at her moms shirt telling her mom (no, mom please just accept it.. it's meat.. mom please just stop) and the mom was trying to hush her. This infuriated us even more because she was trying to cover it up. We understand mistakes happen so if she had apologized and removed it from our bill and accepted the fault.. MAYBE we would have given this place another shot but being customers who came here on a weekly/bi-weekly basis for more than a year... it left a bad taste in our mouth (literally and metaphorically). We were both 110% turned off from this place. We are not upset with the kind girl at the register.. we are upset the chef would try to pass off meat as tofu to non-meat eaters. She tried to lie so hard just so she wouldn't have to be "wrong" or own up to the mistake. Overall, I was disappointed​, hurt and felt like this business​​s owed us a HUGE apology which never happened. I will never recommend​ this place to anyone for any reason. And I will never return. I hope this review sheds some light on what kind of behavior you support when you eat at this place. No honor​, no respect, no integrity. read more

Since the owner changed a few years ago, I've come to really love this place as a true neighborhood gem. Linda is a single mom who works tirelessly to keep this place yummy and personable. I dine here on an average one to two times a week for lunch, since it's location is so convenient, right in the heart of Kailua town. The service is extremely fast despite the fact that Linda buses and serves by herself. She knows my order as soon as I walk in and she delivers piping hot, delicious pho broth, which is money. She also always serves a generous helping of basil, bean sprouts and jalapenos, which I often substitute for noodles to make it extra healthy. The meat quality is excellent, a various assortment of thinly sliced raw beef and tendons for the combination pho. The interior is homey and I feel comfortable here--like I'm eating at someone's shop that sells knickknacks. Linda told me that she used to sell souvenirs at swap meets and she continues to sell them in her restaurant. Bottomline, it is a wonderful, unpretentious neighborhood staple for high quality pho. read more

I suspect because it's not ordered often I was probably served some really old ingredients. No one else ate this and my stomach is non-stop emptying itself. I'm dehydrated.
