So I've used the free teens program last and this summer (and I had a paid membership for a couple of months after last year before cancelling due to getting busy). Honestly, I like the environment here in the mornings. I go during the EARLY mornings because I know that teenagers using the same pass are going to come after school. I think it's a great thing since it encourages high schoolers to get more fit and spend less time doom scrolling. Personally, in-between sets I go on my phone and sometimes get weird looks, which is funny because whether it be because of the fact that I'm changing the song I'm listening to or checking my emails, there's always another machine of the one I'm using available. Considering the time I come at (as previously said, morning), there's also a chance that those occasional looks are just tired people spacing out during their workouts so I don't worry about it too much. I also saw someone filming the last time I went, but they had their phone positioned in a way that looked like they were trying to have themselves in the frame, and I haven't had any problems with people being on their phones recording others or anything (which was a slight fear of mine when I started working out). The front desk staff are also super nice. Only sad thing is that it feels like all the workers from last year have been swapped, but that's just a natural part of life. Another review also mentioned a key thing that I agree with, the equipment doesn't always look like other members wiped it down. My guess is just that people who go to the gym for the first time may not know they need to wipe the equipment (which may seem like common sense but I don't like judging), or that people sometimes just genuinely forget. I usually just wipe the occasional questionable equipment myself since there are a lot of stations, but the paper towels are also unnecessarily hard to rip "correctly." I think there just needs to be signs somewhere reminding people to clean what they use and that would probably help. Also, the bathrooms are really nice. My guy friends (aka all my gym friends) seem to say the male restroom is clean so , and I can attest for the female restroom being clean . And best of all, the mirrors in the bathroom have lights which make you literally feel like you're glowing. read more

I use the Planet Fitness on Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne. I've been a member for four years. The place has more good equipment now than ever, and the staff is exceedingly friendly. I have been a Black Card member at Planet Fitness for a little over a year and was just charged my annual fee. Since I recently changed my membership to coverage through my insurance, I politely requested, as a courtesy, that the annual fee be refunded. When I attempted to resolve this matter, I asked to speak with the regional manager, Alfredo. Initially, I was repeatedly told by front desk staff that he was "in a meeting." When I was finally able to speak with him, he told me he could not help me. He refused to provide his business card, his last name, or his email address. When I asked for contact information for the general manager, he also refused to provide that information. As I attempted to escalate the issue, he laughingly added that if I filed a complaint, it would come back to him and it would still be at his discretion how to proceed. I was also told my membership could be canceled. Additionally, when I looked at the displayed business license and related information, I was told that if I took photos or wrote information down, I would be escorted out of the facility. I found this interaction extremely unprofessional and concerning. I was simply requesting a courtesy refund of a recently charged annual fee after transitioning to insurance coverage, and instead was met with resistance, lack of transparency, and what felt like intimidation. read more

I have been a member at this location since 2020. I used to love this gym. The staff is friendly and courteous however management has really dropped the ball. Machines get broken and are not fixed for WEEKS! I'm back to give Planet Fitness in Wayne my opinion. Did you notice I rated it five stars? That's because the location has gone through a hulk-like transformation. I think there is a new owner or manager. The location has done a complete 180. Wayne PF is clean. Really clean. Props go to two employees that stand out. There's a black guy that looks like Denzel Washington as Malcom X and a long haired rocker dude. Both are extremely good workers. The rocker is always cleaning etc and Denzel is the best front counter guy. Now here's the bad part and it has nothing to do with the local management or staff. The free summer for teens program is a nightmare. Wayne PF is now so overcrowded that last night I walked in and made a U-turn right outta there. I pay for two memberships and can't even get on a piece of equipment. Not to mention no gym etiquette, rough housing, hogging the machines. Dumbest idea ever. Thanks for nothing corporate! My husband and I go to this gym at least 4 times a week. It is very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. It's the best!!!

Updating due to the experience I just had. One of the reasons that I bought the most expensive package here was to have access to tanning I'm an adult woman I am 47 years old. Apparently they don't allow you to tan more than once every 24 hours which is fine however I was only here an hour earlier than yesterday and was told by two people that I would have to come back an hour later because there's no way to override it. This gym is supposed to be convenient not more of a hassle I am absolutely disgusted and I'm going to be canceling my membership you do not tell on adults what to do with their own bodies. Free summer workouts for teens is great, for TEENS, but what about the full time PAYING customers? Your loyal, paying customer base is struggling to get on equipment due to the additional members. I think if you're going to offer a free summer membership it should apply to all who enter. I'm going to request a freeze on my membership until September. This place is exceptionally clean. There are also more than enough cardio machines, and most of the time I don't have to wait too long to get on a strength machine. At $10/month, I feel that this gym is a bargain. The ONLY complaint I have is that people dominate the machines in the '30 minute circuit' area in the same way as in the general strength machine area. (In the circuit training area people are supposed to do a set, then leave that machine, freeing it up for the next person). Circuit strength training is my preferred way of working out, as it is time efficient, and allows me to get some cardio in at the same time. I've been coming to this Planet Fitness consistently (3-6 days per week) since January 2023, and I love this location! It's convenient to me, near Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, and there's always decent parking. The facility is clean, and I every day I'm here, they clean it multiple times during the shift. Things rarely run out (think paper towels, cleaning supplies), but if they do, the staff is on it. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable about the machines, and help patrons when requested. This is not only one of the best Planet Fitness gyms I have seen but it's one of the best Overall gyms I have seen. It has a large collection of workout machines for every part of your body in numerous renditions. It also has enough treadmills and ellipticals to almost guarantee never to have to wait for a machine. For a measly extra fee you can get a Black Spa membership which entitles you to a guest pass every-day and use of tanning booths, hydromassage tables, massage chairs and Beauty Angels machines that tones your body and enhances your skin. The staff is also super friendly, courteous and helpful. I would have given it a 5 out of 5 but it doesn't do the workouts for me! :-) read more

First and foremost - ignore the one-star reviews. They're bogus. Check it for yourself: one of the reviewers has only posted one-star reviews on 5 different businesses. More importantly - I joined a few months ago after previewing a bunch of the gyms in the area, including the Planet Fitness in Pompton Lakes and the newer Crunch facility in Wayne. The layout of this Planet Fitness is spacious and sensible. Even when it's crowded, I still feel like I have room to breathe and exercise. (Speaking of breathing - circulation in the gym is great, it hasn't felt humid at all during even the roughest days of summer, and it's consistently cool) The people at the front desk are polite, and I have to give them credit: nearly every time I go, whether it's early morning, midday, or in the afternoon, at least one person is cleaning the equipment and space, and that's a refreshing change from my experience with other chain gyms. Positives: - good layout - clean space - equipment kept in good condition - multiples of "popular" busy equipment (leg press, leg extension, hamstring curl, smith machines) - gym that seems to embrace the "no judgment" approach it advertises Cons: - limited free weights; barbells up to 60lbs, and dumbbells - some members push the limits of the "no lunkhead" policies... I've seen a few wearing minimal tank tops, jeans, etc. - occasional members using cell phones for conversations or streaming music without headphones Overall: If you're looking for a basic gym and not concerned with doing compound free weight movements (squats, deadlifts; heavy lifting with barbells), I completely recommend this gym. I wasn't canceling, just needed to pause membership because I have no income during the Coronavirus time, can't leave the house, club shutting down yet I need to bring in a doctors note in order to be able to pause. I have been a member at Gold's Gym Totowa, La Fitness Wayne, Crunch Wayne and Retro Fitness Wayne and PF is worlds apart in customer service, friendly staff especially Dan, a spotless facility, and overall great environment. Love it! When you add the affordable membership fee no one in their right mind should join another gym in the area. Big shout out to the team at planet fitness Wayne! This facility is kept impeccably clean and the staff are professionals who are courteous and always willing to help! Equipment, weight machines, bicycles, Etc. Are all in perfect running order and tuned to perfection. During a heavy flu season they pay particular attention to keeping your facility well sanitized, as well as supplying sanitizing spray's and towels to safeguard the cleanliness of their equipment. The atmosphere is on point, and the bathrooms are impeccably clean and stocked. Each visit ... your met with a smile than a hearty hello at the end of your work out a pleasant... "have a great day" is always customary! Danny... The General Manager is both personable and professional. I have to agree, this is the BEST Planet Fitness I've been to yet. The layout is incredibly spacious, and it doesn't hurt that the place is brand new. What makes this place different from the rest: - Large, air conditioned tanning beds - The latest Hydromassage (shaped like a chase, more powerful) - Plenty of machines and barbells - Full size lockers (I can actually fit my real gym bag inside) - Professional Employees Ironically, I almost wrote this gym off the first time I visited. They were closed at 1am on a 24 hour night, and I was furious. I complained the very next day to the manager Allison. She apologized and took care of me the next time I came in. If it weren't for her, I may have never come back to this awesome facility. I can only hope this place continues to provide excellent customer service. First time at this location. It's still pretty newly open. Very clean & staff constantly moving around & cleaning up. Men's Locker room really small thought might be a little bigger since gym is huge. The have this type of toner machine where you stand up in. Never tried before. Lights are VERY BRIGHT.... they do and I recommend you have eye wear. I was confused on how to use. Staff member tried to explain but he was by himself. Thought he would of gotten another staff member to assist,since there were several there. I couldn't get to work and played music which was way too loud in booth / toner. I walked out of session. Make sure your phones / iPads are charged. There was no charging cables on equipment that I saw,as well as staff said there's none as well. read more

This gym seriously needs to have it's franchisee license reviewed by corporate. They claim to be a 24 hour gym, but have very inconsistent hours. Days that should be 24 hour, they are sometimes closed in the middle of the night. I don't want to hear about "labor shortage". Pay people more money, and they will work the 3rd shift. read more

We are living thru a global pandemic and they will not allow me to cancel my membership! I called and spoke with a girl who said I needed to come in in order to cancel . So I did just that and the 2 people at the front desk tell me I need to pay $45 first because I put a stop payment on the last ridiculous charge. I NEVER received an email they were reopening. I have lost TWO grandparents since October and you want $45 or to see my bank statement before I can leave your gym? This place sucks. It's filled with a bunch of idiots who have never touched a piece of workout equipment in their life. No one knows what their doing, most of the people there smell like shit and the entire stretching area smells like sweat and curry most of the time. They say this place is a "judgement free zone" but that's bullshit. Unpleasant experience!!! My friends and I were really excited about joining a gym, so we decided to go to planet fitness in Wayne. Last week, we went there for the very first time and was impressed with there overall gym selection. The at atmosphere and staff was great,However, I was disturbed by the unprofessionalism of Alison( I'm assuming she is the supervisor). This person should not be in a position of leadership!!! Within the past months, staff has been rude and management has left. Lydia and Curtis are both rude...Lydia follows people around and yells at them in the gym for leaving a towel on floor. She is rude and obnoxious! Found out the Manager has left to go to another location, 2 personal trainers left to go to another location and numerous nice staff has left to go to other locations. Instead of yelling at people for towels that may be on floor, they need to clear up the mess of free weights laying all over the place. People leave the Smith Machines racked and don't unrack them. The place was excellent before this nightmare, they need to really shape up and get new management and staff that is COURTEOUS. read more

I was being charged for almost two years for two accounts. I cancelled the one in Wayne in 2020 and then decided to join the one in Pompton after a couple months. I was being charged double and I called the one in Pompton and they didn't see any double charges. I went in today to Pompton and spoke to them to show them proof about being charged twice. I recently got charged double for the annual fee as well. The people there were so nice, they gave me the manager's name in Wayne "Christian". I went to Wayne and spoke to him in person. Told him about the situation, he claimed I never made the cancellation. Said "You don't have proof". Why on earth would I have two accounts. Maybe I don't have proof because it never went through when I signed to confirm to cancel it. Horrible experience got no refund or compensation for it. If i could give zero stars for this place I would. He also said at the end "now that you're not a member I can't give you access to the gym for free, there's nothing we can do to compensate" after making me sign to cancel my membership.
