First time at an Equinox and was extremely excited to check out a place that I heard so much good things. The facilities was extremely clean and well kept with equipment properly racked and I loved the locker room (especially the Kiehl's products). Staff were very welcoming and willing to help. With that being said with I wasn't all that impressed with the facilities given the monthly price tag and thought it could use a little more upgraded equipment.

I'm impressed. Decided to swing by for a freebie before making a final decision on a membership. The Paramus location is spotless No offensive chemical smell or fragrance in the air Sales pitch wasn't aggressive The membership holds value, a bunch of classes to choose from, solid equipment, super nice ladies locker room with useful amenities Facility has a good vibe to it, oh and a juice bar, yes please! Worth considering, check it out!

Another excellent Yelp Fit Club Event in the books! I was super excited to get into this event since I've never been to Equinox in Paramus. This gym is absolutely beautiful, spacious (2 floors) and clean. Upon walking in, there were snacks (mint chip protein bar, almond cacao protein bar, apple slices with almond butter) and beverages (rose, aloe and cinnamon water) from Juice Press and some Yelp swag. I came here straight from work so I had to go to the locker room first and I'm so glad they have lockers with locks already on them, it makes everything super convenient! After I got ready, we all headed upstairs where the Firestarter HIIT class was being held. The workout was only 30 minutes but don't let the time fool you, it was a very intense workout! I was dying only a few minutes in. Our instructor was very energetic and she played some really great upbeat music, definitely felt like I was in a club - minus the dancing (but getting my butt kicked). After class we got nice, fresh, minty wet and cold towels to cool off. What a nice treat, it felt amazing. I went back downstairs and got a massage from Equinox spa and the massage therapist did a great job and gave me some really good tips on what I could do to help my trouble areas. Thank you Yelp, Sara and the Equinox Paramus Staff for making this event happen, I had a blast!

Nice cycling class with Robby, nice gym and very clean. The only thing about this gym is their membership is too expensive, it doesn't have everything like the HUMC Fitness in Maywood but it is a very nice gym.

Wow--so much fun packed into 30 minutes! I love cardio workouts, but this year I have been swamped at work. My typically easy 5-8 mile runs are now nonexistent. When time is limited and motivation is lacking, I need that accountability. And this HIIT workout definitely did the trick. 1. It kicked my butt and 2. It reminded of how much fun and rewarding cardio can be if you push yourself. Our instructor was lively, energetic, and extremely motivating. Despite being out of breath, I didn't want to disappoint her. I loved that none of the sets lasted for more than 45 seconds. I like to be able to see the finish line, and these short intervals kept me in the zone. I also liked the variety. I can do lunges and squats all day, but boy did those broncos kill me. One day I'll make those look more impressive, I promise. Everyone at the facility was welcoming and helpful. The five minute massage was icing on the cake. My back was particularly sore, so it helped to loosen me right up. If you're looking for a gym that is clean, not crowded, and high intensity, Equinox in Paramus is a great choice. Thanks to Sara and the Equinox team for having us!

Facilities - 5/5. The place is really spacious, and there is a ton of equipment. It usually isn't really packed (seeing how it's in Jersey), so you never really have to wait for anything. Everything is very clean and modern. However, it doesn't have a pool or basketball court (for those who are interested). The only reason why I didn't give it a 5/5 is because of the lack of class offerings. However, I do get that the demand isn't as high in Jersey, but it would be nice to take a solid class when I'm in the area. I guess I'm just spoiled from being in the city :) Also, the gym is a bit difficult to find. I find myself missing the entrance a few times...and then being late to a class. Whomp.

Big thanks to Sara and the Paramus Equinox team! This was my 1st event in NJ and I was wiped out from the intense HIIT workout after a whole day of work. I definitely was glad that the class was only 30min and no more. Our instructor was super energetic and kept motivating us all to jump and lunge to the end. Loved loved loved the damp, minty towels that were handed out afterwards. So cool and refreshing! The gym is so luxurious. As we signed in with Sara, we were specially treated with protein bars, apple slices, Juice Press beverages (cinnamon, ginger, aloe, or rose water), and Yelp swag. It's 2-stories high with the HIIT class and cycling area upstairs. The locker room was spacious and chic. It's well equipped with hair dryers, hair spray, khiel lotion, cotton balls, and q-tips to help you get ready for whatever after a post-workout shower. Super fun way to start my 2017 year off in the right direction. Gotta keep getting stronger!

I've been an Equinox member at this location since they've pretty much opened the doors. (I've also been a member at the Wall St location years ago.) My experience here has been a very positive one since what's offered is nothing less than stellar! Where do I begin? Well, for starters, I'm a devout yogi with young children. Equinox is the only quality studio that offers excellent childcare for up to 2hrs a day. The caregivers take a genuine interest in the kids and do all sorts of arts and crafts with them. They create imaginative games for play and most importantly, it's CLEAN! The ratio of kids to caregivers are pretty good as well. You're given a vibrating device that alerts you to pick your child up for whatever reason so it's good to know they're well taken care of whilst you're doing your thing. The yoga studio is clean and spacious with complimentary yoga mats that they offer to clean and pack away after you're done using them... Part of the Equinox experience :) Chilled eucalyptus towels, steam room, great change rooms, shower facilities, Kiehls products and a beautiful spa for when you need it. The staff are super professional and friendly. The instructors are TOP NOTCH. The cafe has delish smoothies and little bites to eat. The clothing store offers the most well resourced work-out wear. I've been at this gym at all hours and there's definitely peak times and other times when it's quieter. When it's busy, there's a great energy and when it's not, I schedule my myofascial therapy sessions with my amazing trainer for some R&R. If you're on the fence, don't be. Stop by and see all these things I speak of for yourself. Money well spent for me since I get so much from this club!

    Hitting the gym Equinox style!

I joined this gym in April and I am pretty happy so far. Yes, it's relatively expensive, but it's worth it - if you like the vibe. It's very intimate but it does have more space than other Equinox I've visited. The trainers can be very annoying and infringe somewhat on your space if you work out on your own. The weights area layout can use some work, but overall I really like the atmosphere. As far as group exercise, I recommend taking some of the Ozzy's bootcamp or conditioning classes if you are looking for a serious workout. One complaint: the juice bar can definitely be more efficient. It usually takes too long and it seems to be closed most of the time.

Cute after work out "juice bar"

We know that we are paying a premium price/dues and felt that the facilities and service were worth it. However, things have changed over the past few years. The bottom line is that we are still paying premium prices, but no longer getting premium service. We used to refer all of our friends to this club, but in good conscience we no longer refer. The machines are not well maintained, and when one is taken out of service it can take 4 to 6 weeks to repair. A number of the TV 's around the club have faulty feeds so pictures are intermittent. Many of the screens on elliptical and treadmills do not work. This situation has gone on for over a year, and management has been informed many times over these issues. The club has oversold its membership so that parking is a problem. Aurora classes are always waitlisted. I utilize your personal training services weekly and most recently, I spoke to the General manager, Dominick Delli Paoli, about a situation that has persisted for years. I am referring to classes that take place in the middle of the exercise floor. The instructor, Micah, blasts the music so loudly that I can't even hear my personal trainer and the sound is so loud that it is offensive. She lowers the music when she is giving her group instruction and then returns to the blasting music. I've spoken to management during the year and nothing has changed. Yesterday, I went to Dominick's office to request that he has the music lowered. I was shocked by his response. When I explained my request, he replied,"I will not do that!" He was rude and dismissive. I am stunned that the General Manager of an upscale club be so rude to his members. He sat at his desk and did nothing. I went back to my personal training very upset to be treated so poorly. We would like nothing more than to see this club return to its former excellence, but it's hard to believe that could happen with this current general manager. Respectfully,

For my introductory class, I signed up for their Core Pilates. It was really difficult to sign up. I had a hard time getting in contact with anyone (it took about 4 attempts). But when I finally did, the sign up process was easy. They had a lot of classes to pick from, including Pilates, Barre and cardio classes. I didn't realize when I signed up that this was a reformer class. I usually do mat Pilates, but there were a few other beginners in the class and the teacher was very patient and nice. The great thing about the reformer machine is that you can turn up or turn down the intensity of the workout according to where you're at. It does take more coordination than I'm used to being on the machine, but it was fun! The teacher helped make adjustments so I could get the maximum benefit, which I appreciated. The Hackensack facility was really nice and big. They had complimentary lockers and towels and the changing room and restroom were both clean. I first joined in 2018 and it's sad to see how downhill the corporation has gone. The glory days ended shortly after the COVID pandemic. Since then, they've closed over 7 NJ locations, cut down opening hours, cut down on group classes, removed towel service, and have limited sauna and pool hours. I understand that it took time for gyms to recover and get back into full swing. But it's 2025 now. There's way too much competition in the fitness industry for 24 to be operating the way it is. I switch between the Paramus and Englewood Cliffs location, but I prefer this one since it's much bigger and has later hours. My biggest ick? The gym is not maintained well at all. Machines, equipment, hand dryers, and bathroom sinks are broken down for months. Dumbbells and plates are scattered everywhere, which is not 100% the employees' fault. There's a constant foul smell in certain areas, most likely due to broken pipes. The entire facility needs a deep cleaning from head to toe. What are we paying a maintenance fee for? Come on... Putting the negatives aside, there are some positives. *The Paramus location is spacious and has two floors. *The floor has all of your basic equipment: treadmills, bikes, stairmasters, squat racks, barbells, benches, dumbbells, kettlebells, TRX, cables, and machines. I can recommend this gym for beginner to intermediate lifters. It's not a bodybuilder or powerlifting gym. *Their Zumba classes are SO MUCH FUN. Don't judge a book by its cover... get in there!!! Take Lucia, Lynn, or Melissa's classes. Check the website for the full class schedule. *There's a basketball court, pickle ball games, and a racquetball court. *They have a sauna, steam room, pool, and showers with limited hours. I only use the sauna and it's relaxing when it's not super crowded. *My membership allows me to have access to other regional locations as well as bringing guests. Pricing is a bit all over the place. It all depends on when you join, what kind of membership you have, and what sales/promotions are going on. Some members pay $24 or $34 a month, while others are paying $54. It's best to ask the front desk what the lowest rate is. Overall, it's not the worst gym in the world. It gets the job done for my fitness routine. I just wish the maintenance was a lot better and that they would have later hours. Honestly, I've been thinking about finding another gym. If it weren't for the friends and community I've made and my lower price rate, I would have left awhile ago. I'm willing to spend more $$$ on a membership for a much better experience.

DECEPTIVE BILLING PRACTICES -- BE CAREFUL BEFORE SIGNING ANY AGREEMENT…read more After years of being a loyal member with no issues, I was suddenly charged an additional $19.50 fee with no notice or explanation. When I asked about it, I was told it was a "glitch in the system" that overcharges customers -- but that I'd need to talk to the manager to resolve it. To prevent future problems, I even put a new card on file. Before following up, I contacted my bank (Chase), and they confirmed there was no reason my recurring payment -- successfully processed more than 28 times -- should have declined. When I spoke with the manager (Andrew), he gave multiple conflicting explanations: first a system glitch, then a bank issue, then a declined card, and finally said he had no control because billing is through ABC Financial. When I asked how the issue would be fixed, I received no clear answer or solution. Instead, the manager became aggressive and ended the conversation by yelling: "GET THE F*** OUT, IT'S TOO EARLY FOR YOUR BULL****." Immediately, I asked again to speak with the owner or anyone capable of addressing the situation. I even reached out through social media. After one month, radio silence. Today, I received another notice: my card supposedly "did not go through," and there is no a $9.50 late fee and another $19.50 charge added on top. I'm genuinely disappointed. If the business needs to raise prices, be honest about it -- don't hide behind deceptive billing practices or "system glitches." I enjoyed being a member, but I can't support a company that refuses accountability, overcharges loyal customers, and treats them disrespectfully.
