Unfortunately, I'm not God's favorite... so I have to work out to maintain my figure... which brings me to my 8 year rollercoaster of a relationship with 24 Hour Fitness. I first joined in 2018 and it's sad to see how downhill the corporation has gone. The glory days ended shortly after the COVID pandemic. Since then, they've closed over 7 NJ locations, cut down opening hours, cut down on group classes, removed towel service, and have limited sauna and pool hours. I understand that it took time for gyms to recover and get back into full swing. But it's 2025 now. There's way too much competition in the fitness industry for 24 to be operating the way it is. I switch between the Paramus and Englewood Cliffs location, but I prefer this one since it's much bigger and has later hours. My biggest ick? The gym is not maintained well at all. Machines, equipment, hand dryers, and bathroom sinks are broken down for months. Dumbbells and plates are scattered everywhere, which is not 100% the employees' fault. There's a constant foul smell in certain areas, most likely due to broken pipes. The entire facility needs a deep cleaning from head to toe. What are we paying a maintenance fee for? Come on... Putting the negatives aside, there are some positives. *The Paramus location is spacious and has two floors. *The floor has all of your basic equipment: treadmills, bikes, stairmasters, squat racks, barbells, benches, dumbbells, kettlebells, TRX, cables, and machines. I can recommend this gym for beginner to intermediate lifters. It's not a bodybuilder or powerlifting gym. *Their Zumba classes are SO MUCH FUN. Don't judge a book by its cover... get in there!!! Take Lucia, Lynn, or Melissa's classes. Check the website for the full class schedule. *There's a basketball court, pickle ball games, and a racquetball court. *They have a sauna, steam room, pool, and showers with limited hours. I only use the sauna and it's relaxing when it's not super crowded. *My membership allows me to have access to other regional locations as well as bringing guests. Pricing is a bit all over the place. It all depends on when you join, what kind of membership you have, and what sales/promotions are going on. Some members pay $24 or $34 a month, while others are paying $54. It's best to ask the front desk what the lowest rate is. Overall, it's not the worst gym in the world. It gets the job done for my fitness routine. I just wish the maintenance was a lot better and that they would have later hours. Honestly, I've been thinking about finding another gym. If it weren't for the friends and community I've made and my lower price rate, I would have left awhile ago. I'm willing to spend more $$$ on a membership for a much better experience. read more

Only my second day here. Actually I was only there today for ten minutes so it doesn't count. I booked a court yesterday for today only came in to do that and they made a mistake and didn't book it. So frustrating bc I forced myself to get up and show up. And I need to do specific things. 1st day they also made mistakes about training and other things. Sky tried to make it better and I appreciate her for that. But only two days there and already full of mistakes and apologies. I signed up for two years and I really really hope it wasn't a mistake. I signed up for 24 hour fitness at Ramsey at Thanksgiving time. I've used the Ramsey gym as well as the Paramus gym. I'm very disappointed in the equipment as you can see in the pictures that I've added. The equipment is not being kept up. This also includes the bikes in cycle class. For the past few weeks I've gone to Paramus for cycle class and each time it was canceled. I signed up and reserved the space in the app and so they know who's taking the class and they know it's canceled. Why couldn't they reach out to us before we made our way all way to the gym , I live closer to the Ramsey gym and I would've gone there if all I was gonna do is get on elliptical. It's a waste of my time through weeks in a row. The women's locker room and restroom have been consistently untidy every time I've gone to Paramus it's very disappointing. This gym is awful. Locker room is dirty, gym equipment is old and not maintained , dumbbells are all over the place and you're lucky if you can find the ones you need. My favorite part of my last trip there was running around to all of the cable machines to find a pin to use for the weights on the row machine. I don't even know how something like that goes missing. Prison gyms are probably better maintained than this. The only reason I go here is because it is close to my job and I can go there on my lunch hour. This place needs a major refurbishment. Mold in the bathrooms on top of being over extremely dirty. Never any hot water, only icy cold water to shower with. Every time I'm taking a shower I want to quit this gym. I'm up in March and won't renew. I think customers deserve more cleanliness than this. What they have here is straight negligence and downright hazardous conditions. Everything. Corporate has to do a complete overhaul of this location starting with the management. There are too many local gyms that are outperforming 24 hrs. You are depending on outdated performance reports focused on registrations rather than reviews. Location is great, quality of service fails miserably. read more

There is never any sign of this gym getting any kind of clean up maintenance. Much of the equipment is broken and remains that way.

Needs to update hours. It says they're open from 5am to 11pm but when I just walked in I had a group of employees telling me that they were closed at 9. Please update hours on "Maps" if that's the case. read more

The horrible front desk service...whoever was working there Oct 21st at 5pm ...I unfortunately didn't get his name. I went online to find out how much for a guest pass...it said pick a club& they will email me a 3 day pass..so i put in rt 4 paramus & they sent the pass& said enjoy your workouts. I brought the pass in with the rt 4 24 hr fitness info& the guy said I couldn't use it there but I could buy a 3 day pass for 30!! I told him I specifically drove her in traffic because I put this club in & it was accepted & didn't say anything about the pass not able to be used here. So no workout & an hour of my time wasted with zero help from the person at the desk...I've been to gym all over the country & thats the 1st time i had any issue with a guest pass!! read more

Moved from Austin to Hackensack on May month of 2025. And I joined in 24 hours fitness gym on June month. While joining I took the personal trainer addition to the membership. But after taking personal trainer I didn't have any sessions and the monthly subscription amount was detected. I requested them to cancel the personal trainer subscription and they cancelled after so many follow ups and procedures.And I requested for the refund of the subscription amount they took from my account for 3 months. Whenever I tried to reach the manager I got the reply that manager is out or not available. Finally I got the manager and asked for refund but she asked to send the email to some customer service mail ID and until now there is no response. So please do not join this gym as the front desk persons are not cooperative and also some people are rude. read more

Prior to the COVID-19 shutdown in March 2020 I had been a member of 24 for about 4 years. When the pandemic hit and everything was closed I canceled my membership. I rejoined last week and things have changed a little. They don't close at 11PM anymore, towel service is gone (though this happened pre-COVID), and the equipment overall just isn't as nice as it once was. That's not to say that this location or 24 Hour Fitness in general is bad. I'm not a fussy guy, but if I didn't catch an end-of-summer deal I probably would have signed up at a cheaper gym. read more

First, I'd like to say this gym is in Paramus and how is it not failing inspections by the health department when it is not as clean as it should be especially after a pandemic you would think that Paramus would be doing inspections more often on establishments like this, so I give Paramus health department, a failing grade on this one. I joined this gym a few years ago and it doesn't appear to be as drastically dirty as people claim, but it doesn't appear to be as squeaky clean as another gym like Hackensack University. Medical Center is but then again the second Jim, I mentioned is not as clean as everyone gives them credit for. I'm considering different gyms now a few years later because I'm trying to recover from a few different surgeries and I wanna get back into the gym and I realize that when I was a younger version of myself, I used to be a gym rat and the gyms that we went to back in the 70s where gyms where you paid you dues you got a key to either someone's garage or a storeroom that hadn't been used by a furniture store and it was converted into a gym and it wasn't overly clean, but we got to use free weights and back then there were a few cable machines as they were new to the scene, but those gyms even sold you special supplements and supplement drinks, and normally the person running the gym looked a small version of Arnold Schwarzenegger or Lou Ferrigno and everybody didn't have designer workout clothes. I am going to take another ride by this establishment, but it's a shame that they keep their name 24 hour fitness when I close at 10 o'clock every day and most of their other gyms have closed down that were 24 hour gyms. read more

This gym is not what it used to be. I was a 24 Hour Fitness member in its earlier years and frequented Hasbrouck Heights (now closed) and this Paramus location. It seems as though the Paramus location has made little effort to improve for its members throughout the years. Aside from the two new power racks in the back of the gym, all of the machines and other equipment has been the same since they first opened. They are worn down, squeaky, and/or rusty which is such a disappointment considering the price that the members pay for to go here. In the main power rack section, the plates constantly get stuck when racking them on the 45lb bar making it frustrating to use them and complete a powerlifting workout. The dumbbells are always unorganized, there are no 2.5lb plates, and only ONE pair of 5lb plates (if you are lucky enough to find them). A pair of barbell clips can be hard to find especially when the gym is busy which is a HUGE safety concern so I bring my own. There is no reason why anyone should be pacing around the gym wasting time to look for what they need. The sauna also has not been working for MONTHS. I just moved back to the area so, who knows, it could've been down for longer. Speaking of things not working - half (maybe even more) of the treadmills are broken. Promising all of these amenities and charging members for them is honestly a huge disservice and insult to the gym goers who give this corporate association money. Sure, a pool and a basketball court is cool but give people EVERYTHING they pay for with the quality they deserve!!! Folks who have written bad reviews of this gym should really check out some other locations - this place is pretty good. It's really more like 4 stars, but the other gymgoers were so chill that I'm bumping this place up 1. This is a three story gym with bball courts, racketball courts, a pool and stadium style treadmills, bikes and ellipticals. read more

This gym is massive! Since most gyms by me closed with the bankruptcy, I'm having to drive a minimum of 30 minutes to workout so I want great ambiance and friendly customer service when I get there. The gym is clean, the class schedule is solid, and the workout areas are well maintained. Looking forward to when the racquet ball courts open up. read more

I've been going to the Paramus location for about a year now and it's extremely gross and unsanitary. Young (14-25) kids keep spitting directly on the floor but the cardio machines. On the topic of the cardio machines- they are nearly all broken or defective in some way. Of the 27 machines present on the first floor of the cardio floor; 16 of them has something wrong with them. Lacking sensors for heart rate, the electric boards being fried, and many other faults. It would suck but be understandable if they ever actually fixed anything. It's not just the cardio machines but the work out machines too. I went 7 times in 18 days and it took them the full 18 days to repair just one of the weight machines. To be honest it could have been broken even longer. Definitely feels like they are cutting corners at every step to save money. The gym is constantly 85+ degrees inside even in summer heat. I'm not even sure if they know if their central cooling system even works; I've never seen it on. Screams cheap It's a very popular basketball location but when they aren't in a game the players are sitting on machines on their phones not even working out. On top of that they are constantly recording videos and sending pictures getting several unwilling or unknowning people in their content. Any time I've brought up any issues to staff it's either met with apathy and annoyance or dismissal as nothing I've ever brought up has ever changed; even the time an older man peed the floor of the locker rooms. I'm 100% going to go to a different location; if that isn't better I'll cancel my membership and join a different gym. Recommending this course if action as well to my group of friends. BEWARE! THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS HORRIBLE! DO NOT VISIT. In October 2019, prior to the COVID pandemic, I had came in to visit since I was interested in the beautiful gym. I had a friend who worked there, a personal trainer who I was going to give a try. I decided to commit and pay for the monthly membership ($50-60) a month a personal training package that cost ($1200) Fast Forward.... About a week later , I got into a car accident that limited travel between Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I had contacted the gym several times, only to be hung up by everyone who worked there. This left me no option but to come in person. I was furious as I had to drive 2 hours. When arriving, people who worked there were talking about how I couldn't get a refund. In my head I was confused as to why, if I only had 3-5 days that I was just there to make a purchase. Anyways I got to speak with JOE CLAYCOMB. While speaking with him he informed me the process to get the refund, he told me to provide proof of conversation, my ID of residence (since there is no gym location in PA) and statement. All was provided to him that day. Guess what.. Till this day, several emails, phone calls, and action was taken. Everytime I call the gym "he is not there", everytime I email "There is no response" . There 1800 call centers are closed. I am waiting for a response ASAP and hopefully after they see this, they will REACH OUT because I am upset. I was told by several people to film a legal law suit . The selection of options are vast for cardio, weight training, cycling, strength and conditioning. There are multiple classes you can sign up for at the front desk or online. Some locations have pools and basketball courts. If you're questionable using deadweights, there's plenty of machines to help you accomplish your goals. read more

There is a fabulous water aerobic instructor there which is the only thing positive about this club. They stopped having life guards at pool about a year ago and there is no hot or even warm water in the showers. The last four weeks there are showers that are missing parts of the handle or not usable ( out of order ). On occasion someone will be showering and I ask if they have hot water and they say yes so I wait for that shower to be available. By time my turn comes there is no hot water. ( I did check other showers and after letting run still no hot water. )There are days I need to go right to work after work out but can't even hope that showers have hot or even warm water. read more

Probably the best layout out of all the 24s I've been to. I like that the cardio equipment overlooks the basket ball court. It's fun to people watch. The staff is friendly and the layout of the equipment makes the gym seem spacious. They also have towel service :-) The locker room is cleaner than most I've been to. There are some cons to this gym, but they're small things. Most of the water fountains the water was pretty warm and not cold. While the cardio equipment being upstairs is neat, there are a lot of stairs to climb to get to them. Overall, if I lived closer I would come here everyday. It's a nice gym. read more

The website and the listing on Apple Maps say open until 11. They close at 8pm. At the very least change your name to "open maybe 12 hours a day, if you're lucky, Fitness." Covid restrictions are over, they're done, everybody is back to normal, all businesses are back to normal. Hardly anybody wears a mask anywhere. Stop blaming your terrible hours and refusal to pay employees to open 24 hours on Covid. The 24 hour locations that do stay open 24 hours have one, maybe two people working the overnight shift. It can't be that detrimental to business to pay a person. read more

If you plan on getting a membership with 24 Hour Fitness, avoid the Paramus location at all cost. You might get seriously hurt based on the frequency these machines break down. I've gone to this location four times; every time, more and more machines are broken. I counted a little less than 10 weight machines with signs indicating they were defective. There were just as many - if not more - broken machines in the cardio area upstairs. To make matters worse, several of the Stairmaster machines were clearly dysfunctional and weren't labeled as being broken. This is a guaranteed trip to the hospital. If the gym is unable to maintain its machines, I would not trust their ability to maintain the pool. I have nothing against 24 Hour, but if you live in the Paramus area, your best bet is Englewood Cliffs. Ramsey is always crowded, and Nanuet is obviously too far. I wish I was exaggerating, but I would rather go to Planet Fitness than be caught at 24 Hour in Paramus. Absolute disaster. read more

"Litty" P is a wonderful facility tech personnel I appreciate her hard work she is very intelligent, smart, and very very I mean very helpful to the gym members. The weight room itself is pretty decent, all the equipment is of pretty standard quality, nothing too special. I saw a lot of complaints about the basketball court, but I've never slipped once on it and the runs are usually pretty decent, especially on weekends. I'd say the one area that the gym falters is probably in terms of just cleanliness, it's not the most clean in many different areas. That, and there's a decent amount of cardio machines that are broken. For me, not necessarily a gym I'd pay money for but fun to pop in on a buddy pass with a friend. read more

There are certain areas in the gym where Hugh clumps of dust balls sits. A number of people takes pictures of litter on the floor to see how long it remains there.recording the date , just to see how long it takes before it is cleaned up. The place is not clean. The facility has aged badly from overuse and little to no cleaning and maintenance. Not a single day passes without cleaning failures, broken or inoperable machines. The entire relaxing area, consisting of the pool, whirlpool, steam and sauna has been closed over a week this period and is frequently closed or hours changed. The men's looker room is absolutely poorly configured. The lookers and changing benches are jammed into tight corners, always overcrowded, difficult to get in and out. The machinery are both old and out of date. Disputes with the corp office can seldom be resolved by the on site staff. The absolute only positive about this gym is that it is a large movie theater converted to a large open space gym. If you play basketball, there is a full regulated size court. On Thursday a gentleman was on an mac that was squelching so loudly, some people asked him to stop using the machine. He put his earbuds back into his ear and disr them. You can purchase water and other drinks but only through the front desk. At one time that had vending machines but they took them out. read more

COMPLETE REVIEW/TIPS FROM A FORMER 6x/WEEK GYM MEMBER: Restroom - Doesn't look as messy now because they took away the towels feature. Toilet paper sometimes out. Sometimes the there's no soap in the showers. Locker room - Yes, like most gyms, you have a few creepy people walking/sitting around naked people watching. Towels - it's so sad that they stopped towel service. I'm thinking they may reintroduce the option along with a higher rate. They cut it because of the restroom mess that some undesirables would create and to save a few millions including for towel theft. Dumbell/bench area - most rerack, worse in the PM Disturbances - cellphone users resting on equipment, have to wait for them to finish. This gym was "4 stars" however without towel service, it's just a big popular gym that's just overpriced. There's a better gym in Hackensack for a few dollar more a month and with towel service. The number one gym is Montvale and it's about $50 more a month so compare wisely. I left/gave up on this gym shortly after taking the towel service away however still charging me the same! Tips to management: - I would go at 5 - 6 AM and so many on cell phones blocking access to equipment (some of us go to work right after) and are serious about getting a fast workout in versus the 2 hours chatting. Employees should be looking watching out for those just sitting for long periods in the free weight/cable machine area on their phones, monitoring every so often. It's so annoying/disappointing that there's so much equipment and they're just sitting on it. The no cell phone signs are useless. I can understand changing a song/quick text but, some just taking up space for so long doing nothing. Maybe set signage at columns for "cell phone use area"? Then ask employees to enforce? - Continue the diverse music in the late afternoon/evening. It's really annoying when it sounds like the same male artist, song after song with the same beat for hours at a time for the remainder of the night. The music does really does not reflect what most members there want to hear hour after hour boring the brains out with repetitive rhythm. - Have more news channels rather than sports. You get too many zombies occupying equipment, doing nothing but taking space and making others wait for equipment. - Bring back towel service!!! read more

I have had a membership with 24 Hour Fitness for almost 16 years. I've recently visited a nearby gym to reactivate my account after freezing it for a while. I drove to this Paramus location to get my membership unfrozen. First impression of the gym was very positive. Super convenient since they are right off the highway. The large glass widow displayed the gym nicely! I can see everything, and I noticed a guy on his phone too (ok I promise there is a reason for sharing that.) The associate at the front desk was welcoming and he genuinely tried to help me unfreeze my account. He then asks his manager for assistance after three attempts. Turns out the guy I saw earlier (the guy busy with his cell phone by the window) was the evening shift "manager." I knew he wouldn't be able to help me as I saw him put his phone away and walked towards the front desk. The manager did not introduce himself and he immediately told me my grandfathered in membership has been canceled. He then tries to sell me the current promotion if I enrolled today. Seriously? You think I want to pay three times more than my grandfathered in membership? At least attempt to help me with my problem first. This "Manager" was very unprofessional and I felt so pressured as he hustles me with enrollment. In addition, he kept telling me there is no way to get my old membership back. Show some understanding of my situation!! I honestly do not know how he became a manager, maybe by pressuring people to enroll with the gym because he seems like he's been programmed to do so!!! And why anyone would hire him to be a manager and to just to sit around using a cellphone is beyond my understanding. Of course I left without my membership and I was a VERY unhappy customer. I turned around after exiting and I saw him smirking!! Grow up and be real man! A good manager DOES NOT exhibit a terrible attitude, pessimism, laziness, rudeness, or negativity. Put your act together. I found out today by another associate that a note was MANUALLY entered on my account. The note mentioned that my account would not be qualified for a reactivation. Ridiculous and so immature of the so-called "manager". I am normally not the type to give negative review, but this event really provoked me to share my experience. read more

Roaches in the locker room amd sauna. Pool closes during week from 12 pm to 4 pm, and weekends close at 2pm for the rest of the day, no other 24-hour fitness does this, but since the franchisee wants to cut cost hurts the paying customer. The brand is being destroyed because of the franchisee owner. Locker room is nasty, and they got rid of the cleaning person, so its really disgusting now. Pictures to follow. Piss all over bathroom floors. 1 working urinal. And now no towel service because they "want to be green". Give me a break! Focus on being clean first, then go worry about saving the planet. Keep in mind, there aren't any recycle bins which shows management just wants to save money. The no-towel policy is making the floors more wet as people don't want to wipe down their area with their own towel from home. Ramsey location is 2x cleaner for the same rate so why is one worse than the other? Depending on your needs/budget go to Blink or HackensackUMC in maywood until this location does some sort of major cleanup/remodeling. read more

This gym is severely undermanaged. Showers in men's locker room have no lights and broken shower heads for months. Some drains are clogged. Most locker doors are broken, can't even put lock on. Nobody washing the floors inside locker rooms - sticky when walking. Pool is closed a lot for no apparent reason. In every row of cardio machines there are at least 3-4 that are broken at any given day. This was probably a nice gym when opened but now it's a dump. read more
