My family had dinner at Plan B this evening and had a terrible experience. The staff were nice enough, but litterally needed to be asked 4 times to re-fill our waters. If you want a really good burger, this place should be your Plan A. I've visited over 10 times and I've never had a mediocre experience. The blue cheese burger is like New Year's Eve in your mouth! Fireworks! Hope! Joy! ...all of that! Pair it with some truffle fries and beer, and you experience the sort of satisfaction people normally just read reviews about. It's not just good. It's really damn good. (One suggestion to management: Ask customers if they want the pickles. I never touch them and always feel bad that they are going to waste). Love Plan B - this location is the cutest one! Totally different from the others in the area but still the same GREAT food. As always, I got the veggie burger 'in the grass' (on a bed of lettuce instead of a bun) and the green fries on the side. The service here is great (you can just tell that the servers love each other and are a ton of fun). My waitress Abby was awesome and so super friendly! Plan B is one of the places that will outlast the other-rans, because their quality of food and service is consistently over the bar..pardon the expression. My wife and I came here on Independance Day weekend, with a massive crowd gathering for an outdoor concert and fireworks. Not only did the burgers come out perfectly cooked, but when the fireworks stated going off, we left the table - we were outdoors - and told the wiatress we would be back. She smiled and nodded, and held our table for us. When we returned everything was in order, and our water glasses were filled. That kind of service you can't train for. I've eaten here a bunch of times, and have always had an amazing time. I was pretty shocked at the horrible service we received while eating and drinking at Plan B on a night that Connecticut Children's Hospital was there fundraising for the kids. My brother, sister-in-law and I were excited to donate each time we had an adult beverage but the service was so bad, we only managed to get our waiter to bring us 2 rounds. The night started out with three different staff members asking us how many in our party and then disappearing (never to return) to find us a seat. We were finally seated in the basement where there were plenty of people and plenty of empty tables. Our drinks order was taken (2 cans of beer, 1 can of cider and a water- (the cans were being sold for Connecticut Children's Hospital) and the waiter left. Meanwhile, a group of 4 sat down next to us, with a different waiter. They ordered their drinks and got them, long before we got ours. Once we got our drinks, we ordered food, which consisted of 2 burgers with fries and fried green beans, a ceaser side salad and some tater tots. By the time we got that small order of food, the table of four next to us had ordered, were done eating and paying. If it weren't for the fact that I hadn't seen my brother and sister-in-law in a year and we were busy catching up on our lives, the wait for our drinks and food would have been very painful and we probably would have complained. We only managed to purchase 2 drinks for me and 3 each for my brother and sister-in-law. As my brother said, "if they were faster in serving, Connecticut Children's Hospital would have gotten a lot more money from us". All in all, Plan B has the best burgers around and it's a fun spot to chill. If you want to sit amongst a bunch of undisciplined kids with parents who do nothing to consider the others among them who might be trying have a conversation - then this is your place. Hard surfaces - horrible acoustics .... The food was great but in all fairness to the restaurant we made the mistake of going there on a soccer Saturday- it was like watching a simsbury / stefford wives horror movie. All six of us ( we all have & love kids) were appalled by the behavior of the customers ....mostly young mothers who were sucking down their wines while their children were acting atrocious. Buzz kill - first time here we had an amazing time, great food, great drinks...attentive bartenders Tonight - horrible bartender...who doesn't ask if you'd like another drink. It asks if you'd like a Togo box... I think I know why the bar is empty And - why not ask how the food was when you can see the burger which was ordered med rare came out well... and the mac with Philly steak has charcoal for steak so it was put on a side plate... We enjoyed this place! We loved the ambiance and their burgers were good with wonderful beer selections! Their burgers were moist and juicy! Plus we loved how they offered different kinds of meat. My brother ordered a combo of beef and pork and he raved about it! I was torn between two kinds of burger and our waitress was awesome enough to suggest that I could combine what I liked with the other burger and have it added to my burger. Also, loved that they offered different kinds of fries on top of their multiple choices of sides! We ordered the truffle fries and Parmesan fries! Yum!!! Also, this place was accommodating to our toddler! He enjoyed his mini burgers (sliders) and fries and felt like he was part of the adults. Lastly, we were happy that they offered 5 samples for their flight of beer!! We actually ordered two flights which offered us the chance to pretty much sample most that was on their sample menu! It was a great compliment to our dinner without committing to one type of beer! I'm not such a beer drinker but because of this, I actually discovered one beer that I got to enjoy and will definitely order the next time we come back!!! Love some staff, but on this sunny winter day (02/21/18) we couldn't get any acknowledgment from the the bartender John (who ignored me for the 2nd time) or the waitress Angelinia, (who by the way was quite a BITCH to us). After about 5 minutes of sitting "IN" the bar and only one table with patrons sitting, without even a "welcome to Plan B or no menu", we left and went to the Maple Tree and had the best service, great food and beverages. Plan B do something about your wait staff and bartender ... plain sad that your allowing these types of "service staff" to treat "YOUR" paying customers like they do. I asked for blue instead of american cheese and while I wasn't disappointed because I love blue cheese, it covered the roasted garlic aoili taste. The bartender recommended the fries instead of the greens and he was right the fries here are amazing. The on tap selection is also very deep as well as the beer selection which meant an enjoyable beer with my burger. Great experience at Plan B last Friday night. I was meeting a friend prior to seeing the "HSO does Queen" show across the street, so we stopped to grab a bite ahead of time. First of all, the location is perfect. It's in the old train depot and has retained many of the original details. The patio/deck was full when I got there so was not able to sit outside, but it looked comfortable and inviting. I sat at a high top when you first walk in and was lucky to grab it - there was a line forming not long after I got there. The beer list was impressive, although I would like to see more local brews available. I ordered the "Italian Job", the chicken "burger". It came with a side of fries, which were not impressive (I should have swapped them for tots or a salad). The burger, however, was really, really good. My friend had a Philly burger (?) and definitely enjoyed her food as well. The prices here are affordable, the food is good, and the atmosphere alone is worth the trip. I've been to other Plan B locations before (Milford and Glastonbury) and this is the best in my opinion. read more

3:30 on a Sunday afternoon, main dining room is full. Hi-top table for two at the bar is open, so we grab it. Immediately, waitress is there to hand out menus and take drink order. Unlike other Plan B's we've been too, this one is very quaint in an old train station. Decor is very inviting. One negative is that acoustics are poor, so it is very noisy. Drinks show up fast, we order - burger salad, and a burger platter. While waiting, we observe food being served to other tables - nachos, mini-burgers all look great. Food comes out pretty fast. Great pickles! Everything is tasty. Only complaint - rather than ask if we wanted coffee or dessert, waitress brings check. We would have ordered dessert, but didn't, just paid and left. This has long been a go-to for our family, and I used to really enjoy ordering delivery - the kale super salad with a homemade veggie burger on top was my favorite. Unfortunately the quality has gone down while the prices have skyrocketed! They are charging eighteen dollars for a veggie burger now - and it was beyond awful. So salty it tasted like it was laden with MSG, dry, crumbly - inedible. Veggie burgers are cheap to make - ordinarily beans and quinoa are the main ingredients. The price tag is absolutely senseless, and salting/adding chemicals to that degree is totally unnecessary. Plan B, you lost me with your $18 MSG-laden "veggie" burger. read more

Kind of surprised that I hadn't reviewed this place before. This continues the winning streak of this local mini-chain. The burgers are terrific (pink or no pink). Good fresh meat. Service that is efficient. It's also a really good place for kids. Loud enough that the kids can be kids, but still you're able to hold a conversation. I'm a fan of the potato chips with blue cheese. Yum. There are lots of places in this area of Simsbury (Iron Frog, Joe Pizza) so you'll have a tough time choosing (and this place can get a little crowded), but it's a very good solid choice for an enjoyable meal out. read more

You cant get a better burger anywhere. The meat is such good quality... they get local grain fed cows. I swear a burger has never tasted this good. I have been to places that also use local grain fed cows but they still dont compare. In addition to good burgers, they have a great assortment of beers on tap that change periodically. My only problem is that I go to drink and the burger is so large and satisfying that i have to force down the good beers. Nice issue to have! The atmosphere is excellent as well. My only concern is that I didnt see a bathroom upstairs, so if you have challenges with steps, go to the bathroom before you arrive. Overall best burger ever- and I have had burgers everywhere- 20$ burger in Chicago... Omaha... Carolinas... I think I have had a burger in ever state but 6... I look forward to the burger night out with my co-workers. Havent been to the other Plan Bs, but Simsbury will treat you right with good food and service. This was definitely my last visit to Plan B. They always have a long wait because they don't take reservations. There is really no good place to wait either since the servers need to get by to go up and down the stairs. They try to make it seem that their food is fresh and healthy but that's not actually true. For example, they say that their beef is natural, ground fresh every day and hormone and antibiotic free - pretty meaningless. I guess they have not heard of grass-fed beef or bison for that matter. Organic chicken would also be an improvement. Maybe a lamb burger....I had a beef burger and they asked "pink or no pink?" I said pink but it was raw! I assumed pink meant medium. I guess not. They have a few salads on the menu and they do claim that their mesclun greens are organic although the other greens are not. Unfortunately the salad dressing is made with soybean oil! That's just wrong! Sure it's cheap but it's really inflammatory! I asked for olive oil and a lemon wedge. My husband got the nachos which used to be good but they were cold and gross. Lastly, their wine by glass selection is lame! All cheap California whites which I try to avoid since they are so high In glyphosate residues. How about an organic or biodynamic option? Or just an option from Europe since they don't allow glyphosate. If you care about quality, don't waste your time waiting at Plan B! read more

I'm not a huge fan of the burgers here because I'm thinking they are steamed. That's just not my thing. For all I know they might do that fabulously, though, I just prefer charred burgers. I also think they need to season their meat more because it's a bit flavorless. That being said, I love their tater tots. And while I understand that might not seem like something to write about, I love those things and not many places have them. They have an awesome crunch and are great comfort food. I had their fried chicken sandwich and thought it was pretty good. I also think the staff is really great. We've liked everyone who's waited on us and have no complaints there. My co workers and I showed up tonight and were told that the wait time was 20-25 minutes. We checked SEVERAL times & were told because the size of our party (there were 8 of us) they would be seating us outside. They really tipped the scales of mediocrity today when they replaced the usually bun on my West Coast burger with an grocery store type burger bun.
