I had Window Nation come out and give me an estimate on replacing 4 windows. Window Nation is advertising a buy 2 get 2 free sale so I thought I'd see if that were true. For perspective, I own a typical Chicago Bungalow and am looking to replace standard double hung windows (no big bay windows or anything large and fancy). So they offered two choices for double hung, no grids and not tempered glass, just basic double hung windows. One was called the Endeavor Premium and the other is the Biltmore. The premium windows came out to $5,342 (for 4 windows) and the regular window came out to $4,579 (again for 4 windows total and installation). This is with their sale price, per the salesman, WITH the sales price and at the discount. This honestly doesn't seem anything like a sales price buy two get two free deal... Do they really expect me to believe the normal price is close to double what was quoted for 4 windows??? Also, they mentioned they were backed up in orders and it would be at least a couple months to install. They said the windows come with a 5 year warranty on labor for the premiums and 1 year for the basic window.

I was able to give them all the information via phone, so there is only one trip to my house for one hour to replace lock. They charge me $575 with no materials. We did our best to seal off the opening with thick plastic and tape until we could get the window replaced but knew that wouldn't last long. One company we called wanted over $500 just to nail plywood over the opening. In the meantime, we called two window companies to get estimates for the replacement. The first company spent very little time and was rather short with us. They offered nothing in the way of covering the opening for the 6-8 weeks it would take for the new window. Then we called Naperville Windows & Doors. Their representative came to our house and took time to listen to us and address our concerns. Shortly after receiving our estimate (which, by the way, was over $1000 lower than the first company for the same window), Don (who I believe is the owner) came out to get exact measurements. When he saw the gaping hole in our house & our makeshift repair, he offered to nail the old window into place and seal the opening so we wouldn't be without a window for 2 months. When we tried to pay him for his trouble, he wouldn't take any money. Very impressive customer service! Needless to say, we chose to go with NWD. When our window came in, Joe came to install it. He was super nice & did a fantastic job! The window is beautiful & very solid. We were very happy with our experience with NWD and would whole-heartedly recommend them. In fact, we plan to begin replacing our other windows over the next few years & will go with NWD again when we do. Thanks again!
