I had my first appointment at PK Walsh yesterday. My husband and I travelled 2.5 hours one way for the big day. A friend of mine suggested this company to help me with my hair loss and I am eternally grateful! Due to my medical condition we all agreed that at this time I needed a clip on or a wig. I declined a wig and fortunately they had 1 (only 1) possible hair piece that would mix well with my own hair color, which is gray and white. (Apparently getting hair with white hair is extremely rare). So you can imagine my surprise when she put this hair extension on my head. I exclaimed "Oh my God, it's me!!" My hair has been getting thinner and finer since mid 2016 when I was first diagnosed with cancer. In the mirror I saw myself as I remembered looking 7-10 years ago!! With a few modifications including the length and bangs, it was perfect. The people at this company were all fantastic. From the greeting by John when we arrived, the in depth discussion with Nikki to determine our course of action and the time spent with Paula on the hairpiece including modifications and how to take care of it ... I was completely satisified if not overwhelmed by both the team and the results. My husband was with me the whole time and shares the same feelings. My girlfriend bought two wigs from PK Walsh and is very unhappy with their service. They did a bad job on the color as well as the size and after spending thousands of dollars she is in search for a new place. I don't understand how a place like this, that lives off of providing good service to clients, can do such a poor job at maintaining them for the long run. The manager John does a very good at providing the worst service possible, not attempting to help a client in need and neglecting to take responsibility for his mistakes. I had the worst experience with PK Walsh. Nikki the owner is nice but her husband John who works there too is the rudest and most disrespectful man I have ever encountered in the service industry. I am very disappointed with the place, they are not professional and do a bad job with taking care of their clients. I paid a lot of money for the wigs I bought there and they could not do a proper job of servicing me in time of need. Don't go to PK Walsh! I have alopecia and went to PK Walsh to get a hairpiece. Nikki brought in a hairpiece and I said OK. I brought pictures of how I wanted it cut but they took it in to another room to cut it. I was very unhappy so Nikki took it and chopped the back short left the sides long. They told me to leave and get another hairpiece somewhere else and they would give me the 3,800 Back. I went to Newbury Street where the hairpiece I bought was cut in front of me and I was treated kindly. I then called to get my money back from PK also and they said no. read more

My hair began thinning almost 30 years ago, but it wasn't until recently that I began to research a solution. I found PK Walsh during an internet search. They appealed to me because the cater to women with hair loss. I made an online appointment for a consultation and received a phone call from Kathy Walsh, the founder, within 30 minutes. When I went for my consultation, I felt no pressure at all. In fact, I felt very at ease discussing my situation. It turned out that, aside from possibly costly surgery with no guaranteed long-lasting result, the only option for my hair loss was a "hair addition". A hair addition, I would soon find out, is a human hair piece that sits atop my own hair. During my consultation, Kathy allowed me to try a few different pieces. I almost cried when I saw myself with a full head of hair once again. I ended up placing an order and then going in a few weeks later for customization. The addition matched my natural hair color perfectly. It was astonishing. My PK Walsh stylist, Jen, cut and styled my hair and the addition. She taught me how to arrange and style it. She offered to be available by phone if I had questions until my standard follow-up visit a few weeks later. When I went to work on the Monday following my visit, I received nothing but compliments. Close friends knew I had gotten a hair addition. Acquaintances merely thought I finally got an updated hairstyle. I am pretty open, so I've shared my story with many. I'm writing this review so that other women may be encouraged to seek help for their hair loss without fear and trepidation. It's been a few months now and I remain delighted with my hair. PK Walsh is now my "regular" salon. It is worth the drive from Providence to Needham to find such wonderful and caring service. I went to P K Walsh about a year ago, due to thinning hair from medical condition. I had no idea what to ask or request, I just thought that Nicki the owner, would help me with the process. First let me say, She never asked how much I wanted to pay!!! Second, she only showed me three hair pieces. LOL, they have a back area full of hair pieces. I found that to be strange! It seemed That I was just an inconvenience to her. She never said, would I like to see more pieces. Also I have chin length hair and she was bringing out long hair pieces?? ( Obviously about the money!) I said I would think about it and left. Well a year later, against my better judgement I went back and of course the same thing happened. The one I liked which was on the fuller side and wavy, she said didn't go with my hair. ( Now I had told her I was planning on cutting my hair) But if I said I liked something isn't it my choose?? Moving along I ended up with a hair piece down to my shoulders. (I have chin length hair) Why didn't she bring in shorter pieces?? Well, I bought this piece $1800.00, and when I went to have it styled by the so called Master Stylist Sue, she took it into the back room and feathered a couple of hairs, brought back out and put it on me. Told me no one will ever know??!! I was so taken back I left. I later returned and had it restyled by Sue. She was very rude and arrogant and asked me why I was back. I told her I had asked to have the piece layered and she said I did layer it? Really, it was still long. She said why didn't you tell me, I said I did, and you said you couldn't cut the style I wanted. Anyway, do you really want to spend all that money and have the Stylist argue with you? Before I returned I had emailed Nicki and very politely mentioned the cut was not what I had requested and I would like to return. She NEVER replied. Do not go to P K Walsh they are all about the money and they are Unprofessional, arrogant, rude and disrespectful. Please do not make the same mistake I made. I will never wear the piece I purchased. I am completely bald and went to PK Walsh for many years especially wanting custom pieces and had thought they would be able to save me for years. I kept going because they seemed nice and seemed to want to do a good job, but finally I realized the pattern. They CONSTANTLY mixed up information, lost a custom hair piece that I had waited for for months, missed expected deadlines regularly, and multiple times they had to redo the pieces, causing me to have to wait months again. I kept thinking that there was something wrong with me, but since, I've met about a half-dozen people who had the same experience - pieces completely wrong, losing information, disorganized, and continual disappointments. I never recommend them any more, in fact, unfortunately, I tell people to stay away. read more

I have been a customer of PK for 15 years and can't say enough good things about them. I am 45 and have suffered from alopecia since I was in my late teens. For women, loosing hair can destroy your self esteem. When I found PK, I got my self esteem back. The prices here aren't cheap but honestly I don't think about that because the quality and service is amazing. I have some friends who have known me for years and have no idea I wear a wig. Most folks are truly shocked when I tell them. I currently live in NY where there are lots of places to get wigs but I still travel to PK to get my wigs. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and when I started losing my hair I turned to PK Walsh for a wig consultation. I am SO happy I did! From the moment I walked in everyone I encountered was attentive and friendly. I had the pleasure of consulting with Kathy, who was sensitive of my high emotions and made the task of trying on wigs fun! She asked me to email her pictures of myself with hair prior to coming in and she had wigs ready for me to try on that were very similar to my color and style. With Kathy's guidance I choose one and went back a week later to have it fitted with Kayleen, a stylist who was more then nice and really listened to my opinions. I am more then happy with my wig! I have received so many complements but more importantly I feel more like myself then I have in months. I cant express how thankful I am for Kathy, Kayleen and the PK Walsh salon! PK Walsh are complete crooks. PLEASE do not go...Do your research. Yes the hair is human but Kathy is a fraud. She has made life hell for my sister, who is bald, and has been a customer for years, mainly bc it is very difficult to find human customized hair. She has lied about all the circumstances surrounding her inability/disinterest in properly fitting and composing a natural looking shade of hair while continually taking thousands and thousands of dollars from her. If you are bald and buy wigs you will understand the complexity. It is not easy. She is "nice' until she is asked to follow through and when she doesn't want to she will make up lies and lies. By the time I turned 39 I had to do something about it. From the very first time that I went to PK Walsh for my first appointment everyone was so welcoming and kind! My hair has always been fine and thin. Although there has not been a drastic change over the years, when I saw a picture of myself posted on facebook at a recent family event, I was "taken back" on how flat and dull my hair looked. I had heard wonderful reviews about PK Walsh, but the reviews didn't come close to how amazing they are!!! Their professionals are not only superb at what they do, but they are so compassionate! They matched my piece perfectly to my hair color and they styled it beautifully!!!! I get compliments every day, but the best thing is that I feel like a new person. Yelp is not lying when they say "as good as it gets!". I went to P.K. Walsh at 29 years old with some early stage thinning on the front of my head. As a young woman, this was incredibly stressful and even a little bit scary. I did not have any information and really didn't know what to do or who to ask for help. The uncertainty was killer. The moment I walked into PK I was greeted by a warm and caring staff all with a bright smile on their faces. Nikki, the president and owner, came right out and greeted me moments after. We went into a room in the back of the office for the consultation. It was so charming...a warm and comfortable room outfitted in pink with bright natural light...once again eliminating all of my fears and preconceived notions of what this experience would be like. I immediately felt at ease as we went over my concerns. Although Nikki has vast clinical knowledge (she is a certified Trichology Practitioner) it felt very comfortable and not at all like a hospital or doctor appointment. She knew almost immediately what was going on and addressed each one of my problem areas. She then did an evaluation and looked at my hair and scalp under a "microscope" (not sure what this tool is called, but it was AMAZING) and came up with a course of treatment. I was so happy walking out of the office. She eliminated all my fears and made me feel like everything was going to be ok. I have been using the products she recommended and the "Hairmax" cold laser for the past month and can already see improvements. I would highly recommend going in for a consultation if you have any concerns. My hair looks better and has more volume than it has in years. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I have the misfortune of suffering from alopecia and after a poor experience with another hair specialist thought I was going to the "best." PK Walsh is anything but. I spent almost $10,000 in one year and am so miserable I rarely leave my home. The hair they have in-house is poor quality and became a knotted mess immediately so I opted for a custom piece for $3500.00. Nikki Walsh measured my head incorrectly and this piece never fit properly. Additionally, the stylist I saw was aweful-that's another story. Now, the worst part~while waiting for my custom piece to arrive, the the 2 pieces I had needed to be "decuticlized" due to matting and knots. I authorized Nikki Walsh to do this procedure for $100.00. She promptly sent me a bill for $400.00 I questioned the amount and she told me I said to go ahead and add hair to one piece-hence the higher price. I NEVER discussed that with her and she blatantly lied and said it was right in my chart, and then called my stylist in to supprt this. I never would have added hair to something I had no intention of wearing again, this "mop", was falling apart after 6 months use & was going in the trash pending receipt of the custom piece. So her solution? SHE OFFERED TO TAKE BACK THE HAIR SHE ADDED. I should have let her but paid her and never went back. I think Nikki Walsh is unethical and dishonest and lacks compassion. It's disgusting that she takes advantage of women that are suffering due to illness. With years of medicine, stress and overall damage to my hair, I gave up hope on it getting better. I have scalp problems, chunks of hair falling out and confidence non existent. When I went to PK Walsh, I was nervous and embarrassed. Hair is such an important thing to a woman and with so many troubles, it's hard talking to a complete stranger about it. I met with Nikki and she made me feel completely at ease. I actually cried about 4x. She gave me a sense of calmness, answered all my questions and even answered questions I didn't even know to ask. She gave me hope that I could have healthy and vibrant hair some day. With proper tools, techniques and guidance, it will take time but it is possible. After I left, I felt like a new woman. Although it was my first consult, just knowing there is a specialist in hair/scalp and Nikki giving me new confidence, it was really great. Went with a life long friend to get her hair piece. What a delightful experience. The staff from receptionist to hair dresser and including owners are absolutely the best. For an awkward situation it was a pleasant time. They made my friend and I so relaxed. And any and all questions were answered fully. They showed her how to style and wash her hair and 2 hours later we were off with her having more confidence and a spark in her eyes that I hadn't seen in years. I have been going to PK Walsh for ten years and they have changed my life! I would not have been able to go outside without a hat covering my thin hair and bald spots. It has given me a new lease on life, to feel pretty, confident and attractive. No one ever knows that I wear a hair piece. I have had about six of them over the years, and each new one gets better and better. The staff is so understanding and sweet. They always treat you with the best care. I love that it's a family run business and the same hairdressers have been doing my hair for all these years. There is no better place to go. I have never seen any salon like this before. Everyone who works here is so attentive, professional, and fully understand any possible hair thinning/loss issue you may be having. The customer service is AMAZING! The products they carry are of superior quality like their "hair addition" peices look so real and natural no one could ever tell. They have solutions & alternatives for all budgets. Its a salon that specifically caters to the needs of women, and come to find out most of the employees are clients aswell. I discovered PK Walsh while doing an Internet search. I was pleased to find out that they are located very close to where I work. My hair began thinning in my 40s, which is a hereditary condition. I went for a consultation and was grateful to find a friendly, compassionate group where I felt comfortable. I was started on laser treatments and it has made an amazing difference! My hair loss is greatly reduced and the hair shafts thickened which gives a fuller appearance. A scope (magnified pictures of the scalp) every three months showed the progress I was making and was very reassuring. Because my hair had thinned so much prior to coming to PK, my ends were very thin and scraggly. I have always had long hair and was reluctant to cut it, so I started getting hair extensions and I absolutely love them!
