Thankfully, they're back in a different area of the North End, still doing their thing of sustainable products. Maria (owner) & her staff + interns are amazingly friendly & helpful! There are probably eco-friendly things here you didn't even know you needed. It's great to be able to bring my empty glass jars or use theirs to get your refills. It's a simple & easy way to get whatever items you need, like body lotion, detergent, & other products. They also have an abundance of plants which is pretty cool. They even do a clothing swap & other events too, so you have to follow them to know when they're happening. The issue is that they're not always open when they're supposed to be which is unfortunate.

I've tried ordering eco products online before and it's been hit or miss. I'm happy to have found a place where I can see things in real life before buying them and make sure they are durable and sized correctly for my needs, even try a toothpaste tablet from the sample container, and talk to real life people who have tried the products so I can find out what makeup remover to use with the bamboo pads and whether shampoo and conditioner bars will have a different feel than the liquid stuff. More bonuses: they are walking distance from the orange line, they said I can bring back empty containers and buy refills, and their plant nursery section is nice. They are a bit pricey, as should be expected with ethically sourced products, not to mention storefronts that pay rent in the North End. Most of what I bought will hopefully last long enough to more than pay for itself. I'll be back!

It was difficult to find plants that weren't damaged and in need of some serious TLC, although the prices were fairly decent for the Boston area. I would surely pay less locally, but I digress. Checking out was also a confusing process, and the store itself didn't feel very welcoming to customers as if the music was playing to make it seem like the employees couldn't talk. I probably wouldn't go here again unless I was looking for a cactus or succulent, and even then there's slim pickings.

This has that feel, you can almost get lost in the jumble of greenery and the whole place outside and in smells like the great outdoors. I mostly have to avoid the place because I literally cannot leave without buying a plant and I'm running out of surface area in my house. Ricky (I think it was Ricky) is that perfect mix of exasperated and extremely helpful that makes me love New England generally. The staff generally has that feel, they'll give you all kinds of ideas and advice without for a moment losing their frustration at your ineptitude. It's just a great little institution to get to know.

Every May, my sister sends me a gift certificate for my birthday and I go with a friend on a trip to Weston Nurseries in Hopkinton to kick off the gardening adventure for the year. I love going to Weston Nurseries because they make everyone feel like a garden expert. Their staff are helpful and friendly and if they don't know an answer, they'll find someone who does! I was very pleasantly surprised to see their huge selection of perennials had been laid out alphabetically this year!!!!! No more aimless wandering looking for astilbe in the middle of the hellebores or sedum. The prices are a bit higher than other local shops or big box home improvement stores. However, aside from two of the mini plants I bought from the clearance section that died, I have never been disappointed in the quality of things I've purchased there. Shopping at Weston Nurseries is a wonderful experience!

The quality is top notch, the style options were more narrow than some other lines out there, but they have just enough options, IMHO. We ended up with four beautiful new ones on our very first visit. Store is clean, laid out well and a pleasure to browse. The stools were "in" exactly when we were told they would be. The young man at the pickup door was very nice and really helped load our truck so the stools wouldn't get damaged on the ride home.
