I have Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia and am losing my hair. I never expected this journey to be so…read moreemotional or to be so depressed. I never want to go out anymore or even go to work with my hair loss as I was embarrassed and ashamed. In looking for a solution, I came across The Salon at 10 Newbury. I started with a virtual consultation with the owner, Patricia Wrixon. Pat was INCREDIBLE and was so understanding and supportive! I booked an appointment and because I live more than 6 hours away, she booked me on a Thursday morning, allowing us more than enough time to find the correct hair piece, overnight ship it, color and highlight on Friday and cut and blend with my bio hair Saturday along with teaching me all about the care of Follea hair pieces. Living so far away, Ashley (Office Manager) and Sara answered endless questions and emails. They ensured our trip was pure perfection. When we entered the Salon, the staff is amazing at Covid precautions as well as assuring you are seen in a private space due to the emotions of hair loss. We were offered coffee, americano, espresso, water and were catered to like royalty. Pat even helped us find the most amazing place to have dinner that evening! I am deathly afraid of going bald and the texture of my hair has drastically changed. Because of this, my husband and I decided I would purchase a Follea topper and a Follea wig that match; therefore I can wear whichever I am more comfortable in at the moment and no one will be the wiser! Not only did Pat not oversell, she was quick to point out that we did not have to decide that moment. By purchasing two pieces, it never dawned on me this meant twice the amount of work for Pat, the amazing guru of color, Michelle, and the fantastic hair cut/blend Agi!!And yet, they ensured that we had everything including education before we left on Saturday and had both pieces that match perfectly!! The pictures below are the follea topper. I am over the moon about how this blends and cannot say enough about this salon. They are not just helping you feel beautiful again, they are helping to give you back your life. Do not hesitate to make your appointment today. You will NOT be disappointed!!! Thank you Pat, Ashley, Sara, Michelle, Agi and team from the bottom of my heart!!! Karen

I arrived and they greeted me warmly and introduced me to Alison who would be styling me. She asked for my input on how I wanted my hair to look and she executed perfectly! She even offered to curl it after she blowed it out, and after I mentioned my hair usually doesn't hold curls well, she made sure to add the right type/ amount of product to make sure they would hold throughout the wedding while still having a natural, lightweight feel. And that's exactly what happened! I will definitely return for any future styling needs, thank you!

I was ready for a change, especially leading up to my wedding in the fall. I did a ton of research online before choosing Extology. When I arrived, I met Alec at the front desk, who is super nice and helpful. I met Kriscia during the initial consultation where she explained EVERYTHING! She answered my many questions, often demonstrating how to do something on her own hair to make sure that I understood. Because I was a first-time client, she did the color in a separate session before the extensions so she could see how the color looked in my hair to make sure the extensions she was going to order matched perfectly. Even after JUST the color, my hair looked great. The next session was for the extensions and cut. It takes quite a while to do the extensions, but I was able to get work done on my laptop (they gave me a lap desk to use) during some of the time. Kriscia is amazing about explaining things and setting expectations, double checking that I understood how much she was cutting off the length and things like that. Hair extensions require more work to take care of, and Kriscia explained all the details on how to do that. At the end, my hair looked absolutely amazing! It looks completely natural and beautiful! My fiancé was so impressed. The next day I had an appointment with my wedding make-up artist and my wedding hair stylist (two separate appointments). Both of these women (who are in the beauty industry) said my extensions were the best they had seen!

Being in school, then the pandemic, and then the stress of starting a new healthcare job in the midst of covid-19 resulted in me ignoring/avoiding what a mess my hair had become. To top it all off I'd had relaxed hair for 20 years, went natural in 2019, and wasn't exactly sure what to do with my newly natural hair on a day-to-day basis. In the span of just 2 hours, Mercedes created order and beauty from it by helping me to detangle, trim, and silk press my hair to lengths that I didn't even know were possible. There is no getting around it: having 4c hair requires more maintenance than other hair types but I trust Mercedes' skills as I continue in my natural hair journey. I am scheduling my next appointment with her today and I cannot wait :) TL;DR: My hair was a mess and Mercedes gave me a silk press transformation that my eyes could barely believe. Do not hesitate to book your appointment, this woman is truly a hair miracle worker!
