    Blueberry pancakes

Enjoyed Sunday brunch at PJs this past weekend! We sat at the bar, and I had a good cinnamon maple whiskey sour. For my meal, I chose the special Mexi-Benny which was very flavorful and I loved the potato's it came with! My wife had the two-fer (eggs and pancakes) and raved about the blueberry pancakes.

A cozy little place packed with flavor and history. The menu, along with flavorful pancake choices, has robust breakfast options. The food was served hot and fresh. My only complaint is that the chai latte was not as tasty as others I have had in other restaurants. My friend got the hot chocolate and enjoyed it. The server was respectful and the wait time was expected for a Saturday brunch rush. I highly recommend this breakfast spot when in the area.

Every Thursday my husband and I take my mother in law out for brunch. The area she lives in is very limited for quality restaurants. Since PJ's is close to her house, we decided to stop here to eat. We were immediately seated inside at a large booth. With the exception of the hostess, staff members were wearing masks. It wasn't very crowded but a group of diners in the back were extremely loud, laughing and talking. Our server came and we ordered our meals. I got a bagel and lox with a side of fruit. I was disappointed that it came as a bagel sandwich because I would have much rather have done it myself. My husband got an egg sandwich on an English muffin. It was very small yet ample. My mother in law got the breakfast quesadilla and she said it was very good. Our entrees were priced from $13 -$16. A bit pricey for the amount of food we were given. Also, our server deemed it necessary to bring our bill and take out containers before we finished eating. As I said earlier, I'm never a happy camper eating at restaurants in this area. Given another situation, I'd spend my money some place else.

    PJ's "Two-Fer" Breakfast

The waitress asked me if I was still working on it...I said, "the work is done" *empty plate* LOL PJ's is one of the best in town for breakfast. The pancakes and eggs are perfect!! No lie, the fluffiest ever. If you're used to "diner food" and looking for that traditional taste, a low key "no need to get dressed up" spot to roll out of bed and go to this is it. The prices are very reasonable, so bring a friend or two! With free parking, good service, and fresh made to order plates it's a YAY from me, check it out!

PJ's Classic Omelet with tons of fresh veggies. So good!

PJS is our work's go-to place for lunch and always enjoyed everything I've got there. We usually get sandwiches and a plate of the pancakes to share because they can't be missed. It's perfect since they have a huge selection of pancakes, sandwiches, entrees and drinks. At the last lunch I got the chickpea sliders and I'm still thinking about them. They were crispy little chickpea patties with lettuce, tomato and a tangy yogurt sauce. This time we shared the Oreo pancakes that are fluffy with great flavor but not too sweet. Another time, I went by myself for a breakfast and had the pjs classic omelette. It was filled with tons of crisp veggies and just the right amount of feta. I loved it! I got the potatoes and toast with it. It was a lot of food so no room for pancakes this time. Service is always friendly and fast.

Nice lunch - Crabby Benedict (Eggs Benedict with crab cakes) was ok. The food came out quickly, the plate was less than I expected to pay for any crab cake, and it was a nice satisfying lunch meal. As per the norm with Benedict, there were two crab cake patties that were definitely not of a jumbo lump variety which I prefer but tasty. The poached egg on top was perfect. The potato side was "ice cream scooped" onto the plate and mushy but I liked it. There was maybe too much hollandaise on the plate but I was able to scrap some of that off. There was also a generous serving of spinach and English muffins underneath each patty. There were plenty of TVs tuned to sporting events which kept me occupied while I waited for the food to appear. The service was good and friendly. Good place for a Wednesday work lunch.

Not only was it a delightful experience for my tastebuds, it covered the entire plate. This was one of the few times I couldn't finish my meal. It probably didn't help that I had an order of their amazing bread and butter. I love the vibe at this spot. They serve top notched meals in a casual environment. I have visited this spot at least 10 times and they don't miss. My wife has the Rye & Gochujang Radiatori. I tasted it and it was delish. I never thought to add gochujang to a pasta dish, but I will be doing that in the future. If you have room for something sweet, end your meal by sharing Brioche Doughnuts. We get them every time we visit.

Also loved the smash burger -- delicious and no pretentious frills -- but the fries were the standout; homemade, hearty and crispy. The pumpkin and pretzel casarecce pasta was very tasty as well, and the small-sized portion was plenty. Clearly the chef is talented and takes their work seriously. Given that they don't sell liquor & you can bring your own, the prices are fantastic. Cheapest dinner I've had since the early 2000s lol. They do have some N/A wines, beers and cocktails for those who don't care about booze. I could see this place being perfect for breakfast or lunch because it has beautiful views of the river. We came for dinner, and within 20-30 minutes, it was pitch black outside so we didn't get to enjoy the view. The lighting in the restaurant for dinner is too bright, which takes away from the atmosphere and makes it seem more like a takeout restaurant than upscale dining. Our server was great but the food took way too long to come out. It was about 30 minutes to get a salad. Not sure if they were short-staffed or that's just how it is but because the food was good enough, we will definitely come back to find out!

So when I used to work in L'ville and could get Route 1 Diner delivered through Uber Eats it was a treat indeed. I often ordered the turkey Reuben, omelettes, BLTs, fish sandos, and quesadillas. All good but the actual standout here is the STEAK FRIES! They are fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside. They're the best steak fries by far and possibly a top 3 restaurant fry of all time for me. Even by delivery they arrive crisp. I've since left that job near the diner but when I find myself in the area I can't help but stop in to get the fries. I was actually hesitant to do so at first - kinda like lifting the curtain back on Oz. But there's no trickery here - the waitstaff is friendly in person, the food is hot and fresh, and incredibly priced. This diner is such a gem and I am admittedly jealous of people who live nearby. During my recent visits, I noticed some inconsistencies in portion sizes. At first, I thought it might just be a one time thing, but today I had a chance to observe a few orders being prepared while waiting for my husband's smoothie. I completely understand that things can vary during busy times, but I just wanted to mention it as feedback. Consistency in portions would really help ensure all customers feel they're getting the same value. I enjoyed the vibe right away. It felt welcoming, and I could hear people around me enjoying their meals, which is always a good sign. I only ordered coffee (there's just one size option), and it was good and hot -- although my lid was cracked. They do offer either a to-go cup or a mug if you're staying, which I liked. I do wish there were a few more small Danish or pastry options to grab with a coffee. Sometimes you just want a simple little something on the side. The only thing I was curious about was the music. Worship songs were playing the entire time. I wasn't sure if the owners are religious or if the staff just didn't realize what station was on.
