Caramel Granita with Whipped Cream & Caramel Drizzle
Amaka N.

I've never been to a PJ's Coffee so I didn't know what to order. The barista who greeted me was very helpful in breaking down the menu and flavors. He even allowed me to sample some things before I ordered. I ordered the caramel granita with whipped cream & a drizzle of caramel on top. It was soooo delicious! It's a frozen/iced coffee drink but it's blended like a daiquiri so it's very fine ice, unlike your typical frappe. I also liked it because it wasn't super sweet like a caramel frappe would normally be but also didn't have the bitter coffee taste I try to avoid. Would definitely recommend trying them & looking forward to trying some more flavors and drink options. Inside was very clean, staff were masked, & they also have a small outdoor seating area & drive thru.

My go to is usually Cafe Du Monde for a frozen coffee when I'm in Nola. It's Vietnamese level strong, it'll restart your heart, but then give you diabetes. Frozen coffee is not blended coffee, it's not a frappuccino. It's slow churned to have the consistency of an icee/slurpee with a nice crunch. I am so happy that PJ's is now in Jackson across from Surin Thai. This is the granita, they can flavor it how you like, or just straight up. Y'all this is good! Wished it was slightly stronger, but the sweetness is just right for me, most people would probably want it slightly sweeter. The employee told me that I can get it with even more of a crunch to it, I just have to request it This is a large for a little under $5. This place is so cute, roomy, and has an outside patio where you can sit, sip, and enjoy your coffee.

I enjoyed everything about this place. The service and atmosphere was awesome. They do have WiFi and tons of indoor/outdoor seating space.

Porch is great spot, but outside outlets never work. Some workers are beyond exceptional and some are really slow.

Urban Foxes is a true gem in Belhaven Heights. Yes, the coffee is great--but this spot is much more…read morethan a coffee shop. The pastry case is stacked: a wide range of sweet and savory options, all baked in-house, plus a small rotating menu of heartier plates that make it easy to do either a light bite or a full breakfast/lunch. Bonus points for the strong vegetarian lineup and frequent vegan options--my go-tos are the black bean roll and the tomato pie. The baristas are friendly, service is quick and efficient, and the space itself is incredibly comfortable. Set in an old house with thoughtful decor, it has classic coffeehouse vibes (no cold, industrial feel here), making it equally good for meeting friends or settling in to get work done. There's also plenty of outdoor seating and a great backyard. On top of all that, Urban Foxes serves a solid selection of local craft beers and hard seltzers and really leans into community--regular pop-ups, art markets, and music shows ranging from punk to hip hop. Pro tip: grab a free zine on your way in. This place does a lot, and it does it well.

I also saw covered outdoor seating. In fact, there were multiple options for seating. I especially admired the design-flow which allowed the customer line to be separated from the seating areas so that the customers don't have to be in the way of those that are seated. The shop is bright and bright the element of outdoors into the interior in a subtle way with its plants and large windows. I'm such a sucker for pleasant greetings and warm hospitality! "You had me at 'Hello! How are you?'" The world could certainly use more kindness and genuine southern hospitality. Now, here's what really wowed the coffee enthusiast/hobbyist in me! Espresso shots were being pulled meticulously with attention to detail, including the use of a scale, which provides for consistency! The flavorings/syrups were not pumped haphazardly from the familiar brand-name syrup bottles. Rather, for my latte, an in-house syrup was carefully measured for the perfect taste! My delicious, honey-cinnamon latte was made with care, attention to detail, quality ingredients, and finesse! Loved it! If I'm ever in Jackson, this will definitely be my go-to spot!

My friend loves the classic New York style. I've also had KingCake here! It was so good and fresh. I'm typically picky about King Cake, but I definitely recommend. So many choices - Biscuits & gravy, omlettes, low carb bowls with plenty of protein and veggies, avocado toast, breakfast burrito, etc. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong. Atmosphere - It's chill depending on when you come. Just know the weekends are super busy, so make sure you get there early. You can post inside the cafe, on the patio, or in tables throughout Banner Hall which houses Lumeria book store and some other boutique shops. Prices on food are reasonable. One slice of cheesecake is a little pricey, but it's a large slice and honestly worth it. Overall, this is my favorite place to get breakfast in Jackson!
