Ah, found it! If you…read morepeep the photos, you'll see lots of smiling people enjoying beautiful Italian weather, the island of Ischia, fresh seafood, all the goodness. We visited in November. We were lucky to find them open. They were cooking up delivery pizza, and they welcomed us inside, we were the only guests. The owner was kind, I ordered an amaro, we were told the menu was limited to pizza, that day. Well, we'd heard a thing or two about the Italian's pizza expertise, so we went for it, our first -- and one of the most memorable -- pizza sessions of our stay, on or off the mainland. This is just my take, but seems to me most Italian restaurants get the whole Napolitan recipe right. The secret to marvelous pie is forking into the whole thing as soon as it comes outta the oven, like, as close to burn-your-tongue as possible. And I'm pretty sure the owner was extra attentive to the random American stragglers who wandered into his place in November. He wowed us. Unforgettable.

Fish was excellent, pastas were spectacular, and the tomato fried pizza was amazing!! Make sure you ask for seats in the front of the restaurant. The ones in the back are not great, So we asked to be reseated...

Very good, and inexpensive. I eat here every time I come to Ischia. This visit, two days in a row!…read moreJust up from the bus station, above the port. Wood-burning pizza oven (inside) AND wood-fired chicken rotisserie (outside). I'm vegetarian, so I got eggplant parmigiana (5€) and fries (3€). My friends got porchetta (roast pork) and also came back for seconds the next day. Coperto 1.50€. Free WiFi. Eat inside, outside, or to go. Mostly locals.

We came at the right time because this place got more and more crowded as the night went on. After 10 days in Italy at that point, my boyfriend was a little tired of pizza and pasta (crazy I know) When we got to this place, we noticed almost everyone eating the rotisserie chicken and a plate full of golden potatoes. It looked like the perfect break from standard Italian fare for the night. Our waitress was gracious in speaking perfect English and helping us decipher everything. We both ordered the chicken and potatoes, but ended up regretting it when we saw the pizza come out to the person next to us. It looked awesome!!! Even to us after seeing pizza non-stop during our vacation. We should have ordered one plate of chicken and one pizza in order to try them both. The chicken was tender and juicy with some of the best-seasoned skin I have ever tasted. Mostly though, what sticks out to me is the friendly service and authentic family vibe of this place. Definitely worth a try if you want to support a local business on Ischia!

We were having a great honeymoon visit to Procida until we went here…read more The hotel just down the street, the Crescenzo, was amazing and has much better muscles. They were also extremely gracious and accepting of foreigners even though their main clientele were locals (AMAZING LEMON CHELLO). The waitress at II Galenone who was working March 11th around 7:30-8pm came to us and the second she realized we were American she stopped trying to take our order even though we were pointing out items on their menu she proceed to go to another member of the staff and very vocally and with her mannerisms expressed that she did not want to serve us. At the time we were literally the only customers in the entire restaurant. The gentleman was very nice and tried his best to serve us but the damage was done my wife had already notice the woman's reaction and was no longer comfortable. The woman continued to freeze us out no matter how nice we were but was extremely friendly with all locals coming in. She wasn't having a bad night she specifically had a problem with us and made that very well known. The pizza we ordered to go was very tasty. Even though the gentleman asked if we wanted it cut, and we let him know yes as tourists we needed it cut, (we were taking it back to our room) when she brought it back both were whole pizzas not sliced. Incredibly rude and although the pizza was great, the gentleman seemed more concerned with flirting with the rude waitress than anything. Please not we started with Italian and spoke our best it was not a case of A-hole Americans trying to instantly speak English, we were pointing at their menu for Christ sake how hard is that!!!! Made a night on my honeymoon worse and wish we have never went.
