    Grilled sirloin with grilled veggies
    Katherine R.

When we walked past this restaurant I was excited to try it! Should've checked the reviews first. A few things on the menu looked amazing. We ordered a couple glasses of wine, caprese bruschetta, and our five different mains. The wine was adequate. The bruschetta was basically raw, just bread with diced tomatoes and a big chunk of mozzarella. The bread and oil they brought was delicious, but hard to go wrong with that. For my main I ordered a grilled sirloin steak with grilled vegetables. It was a HUGE steak, and it was very pink, which I like, though they did not ask me how I wanted it cooked (don't know if people do that in Italy, though). Somehow it was still incredibly chewy. Parts of it were straight up raw, and I couldn't find any part of it that was perfect. It was unseasoned as far as I could taste, which was a let down. The "grilled vegetables" was incredibly wilted spinach that I didn't even touch. My partner ordered ravioli as a main, and it literally came with four ravioli. FOUR. They were good, but it was like 1/4 of the amount of food that I got. My father-in-law ordered the mushroom risotto, but it was under done and far too crunchy. He only ate maybe a 1/5 of the very large plate in front of him. The other two members of our family got pasta dishes, and they were good, but not amazing and also very small portions. As for the bathroom, the toilet paper was through a small slit and completely inaccessible. The service was fine, but the inside of the restaurant was incredibly loud, both people and music. I was hoping to avoid the cigarette smoke inside but one of the workers was just sitting behind the cash register smoking. Not an enjoyable experience.

Excellent in location ambiance n service!! Thought it'd be way over priced given prime location but came out to be cheaper than any dinky restaurants typical in US. Food is good if you order pizza n red sauce pasta but the steak, kinda not the best, but order away on cocktails bc it's a high end bar at the end of the day!! Service excellent!! If you say hi and get the servers name and make eye contact and leave at 10 euro tip on top of the standard charge for a fam of 4.

I studied in Sorrento and Syrenuse was a place I ate at weekly, even twice a week! The service is quick and very friendly, they always made me laugh! The food has always been good and I've gotten all types of things. I really like their spaghetti as well as their chicken breast entree!

Syrenuse is at the top of those stairs. The stairs go down to the bottom of the cliff, to the Sorrento Port. There's also a lift. Just ask.

Syrenuse is located right on the Piazza Tasso, probably the best location in town! It's right next to the stairs leading down to the Sorrento Port. I sat outside and enjoyed my breakfast, with no sense of ever been hurried along by the servers. It's the Italian way to not intrude on you, therefore they come to the table as little as possible so as not to disturb your enjoyment. But my server wasn't hard to flag down. Evidently Europeans don't guzzle down coffee like we do. For one thing, who can afford it? There are no free refills and at € 3.50 each - that price was pretty standard, actually- you'd go broke if you lived here. But it is a lovely place to people-watch and use the free wifi.

We only had a couple of quick drinks here as it is on the main square in Sorrento, Piazza Tasso, and that made it a good meeting point. A vodka and coke and a coke cost about EUR13 and this is probably only slightly more than the typical cost of drinks in Sorrento. Service is very good initially but if you want anything after your first order then you'll have to be prepared for a really long wait. We caught the attention of one waiter and asked for the bill and he was visibly and audibly irritated by the fact that by the time he got around to us 15 minutes later we had already asked (and received) the bill from another waiter. This put us off ordering anything more than one or two drinks so I can't comment on the food here, I'm afraid. There is another bar called Bar Ercolano on the next side of the square which was much better and I've written a little review for them.

If you are visiting Sorrento, this is definitely a good place to stop by! My family and I just happened upon it during our visit there on a European vacation. The wait staff was incredibly friendly, and very attentive to our needs. The food was very good as well! There is no better place to get a Caprese salad than in Italia! I also had a Margherita pizza there, which was good. Most of the restaurant is located outside in the shade. It provides a great view of the area. They also had music videos playing in the background with music that was popular from Italy as well as the United States. My family and I definitely enjoyed our visit here, it was a great place to sit back and take a rest on a long tour of Sorrento and get some amazing food while we were at it!

Syrenuse Bar Ristorante What a wonderful place! Sorrento is so stunning and what better place to enjoy great food, service, and people watching than this restaurant? It's a fairly short walk from the train station. The staff is friendly and speak english! We had the pizza the prosciutto pizza and spaghetti with tomatoes & basil. So fresh, light, and delicious. Topped it off with a glass of white on a sunny day and you are in heaven! Bonus - they start you off with these fried cheese balls of goodness! Probably a million calories but I have no regrets! We came back later for some tea and dessert! PS - clean bathrooms! LOVE!

Went to go watch a game that night and the initial service was quick but the follow up was long and the other waiters just loitered around.

We wanted seafood because when in Sorrento...why not opt for super fresh seafood right by the coast?! Our server recommended a really delicious local red that was super reasonably priced and we enjoyed with said red: For Primi -- *Gnocchi alla sorrentina (Sorrento-style Gnocchi): I mean...we kinda had to get a regional specialty right? Gnocchi here is potato based instead. It was SO delicious - still perfect texture. They also served this HOT HOT HOT with melty cheese. So delicious and a really generous portion!! *Spaghettoni alle vongole (Pasta with Clams): Another favorite for us in general so figured a really fresh version could be stellar and it didn't disappoint! This slightly edged out the gnocchi for me flavor-wise, but the gnocchi was dang good so it just goes to show how DELISH this was!!! For Secondi -- *Grigliata mista di pesce (mixed grilled fish - this was an incredible plate of such fresh seafood. There was various fish, a giant prawn, octopus alll grilled & seasoned to perfection! *Swordfish special! -- apparently it was swordfish season and it was a 'fresh catch' and I feel like you could tell! Really lovely and nicely seasoned. Portions were very generous & we were way too full for dessert at this point! So you could probably eat more "American" style here (Just 1 entree instead of our approach), but the menu here is pretty stellar!!!

I had been bit by a crab a number of times at Amalfi earlier in the day. I decided to return the favor and had the excellent crab with squid ink pasta. I will say that the crab was a lot of work, it was also a delicious crab. The squid ink pasta itself was perfectly al dente. Added a second course of a local fish with cherry tomatoes, also delicious. Family enjoyed their dinner as well.

Or to enjoy a glass of wine while watching all the people coming and going. I passed by so many times as this was on the path between my hotel and the shopping area, east of the Piazza Tasso, I finally decided to stop and give my feet a rest. Surprisingly affordable for a bar in the heart of Sorrento, I had a glass of red wine and opted for veal scaloppini for a late afternoon meal. The veal was very thin and quickly pan fried with a lovely lemony sauce balanced by briney capers. It was delicious and a welcomed reprieve from all the pasta I had been eating since I arrived. Others around me were enjoying pizza, pasta and gelato on a bright, sunny, 80 degree day in October. Sitting here surrounded by the incredible architecture of the buildings in this square was a quintessential Sorrento experience.

Specializes in pizza but also makes other entrees as well. A Ristorante which is a little more up scale with the waiters in tuxedos, table clothes, and fancy silverware. But my favorite of the places to eat are the Bars. Bars in Italy aren't like what you typically think of a bar in the States. They are restaurants but usually half the price of the "Ristorantes". Chances are the food will be just as good but served in a more casual environment. Which brings me to one of my favorite places to eat in Sorrento, Bar del Carmine. Since being in here we have eaten here a couple times, here's a few things we've order: Tuna salad and chicken salads: both are great. I'd order it everytime I come to Carmine's. Very fresh, a nice combination of flavors, meat, bell peppers, fresh mozzarella, corn, onions, olives, articoke hearts, and carrots. They don't serve any Thousand Island, Ranch, or Italian dressing out here. There's only one choice which is delicious, olive oil and Vino Blanco. Cheeseburger: not anything like the American Standard for a burger but still good. Small patty, the main focus is mozzarella and the tomatoes. So if you are expecting an In & Out burger, ForgetAboutIt... Pizza: only thing bad at Bar del Carmine is the pizza. Probably the worst pizza I have eaten in Italy. But pizza should be from the pizzeria anyway. Service is always good. Prices much more reasonable. Comfortable and casual with great people watching being that it is located in the center of Piazzo Tasso.
