I put my order in right when they opened at 4pm and was told pickup would be at 7pm. Three hours for pizza. That kind of wait sets the bar sky-high -- you expect the best pie in the city, maybe even the country. What I got was... fine. Pretty good, but nowhere near worth the hype or the marathon wait. To make matters worse, the pizza was already cold when I picked it up at the scheduled time. Was able to snag an early rez on opentable luckily. Pls note that the tables are for ppl w reservations only and the bar is fcfs w like 6 or 7 seats. I would recommend only going if you have a rez bc the bar seats are hard to come by. Their menu is small and simple, which I actually appreciate. They are also currently BYOB. They dont really have a host/hostess, not sure if someone called off that day or if that's just how they do it, but don't be shy to approach the workers near the bar if no one's helping you upon arrival. We got the Caesar salad and a pizza w pepperoni and mushrooms. The salad was aight, we enjoyed the crispy crouton bits that were tossed into the salad, but the texture of the lettuce was almost like a cooked spinach, which was a bit odd? Maybe they pre toss the salad and let it sit for a bit, not sure. But flavor was great, first time I actually enjoyed the big chunks of anchovies in the salad. We split one pizza and it was the right amount for 2 ppl. The pizza was packed w flavor and I appreciated the amount of pizza sauce they used. This tavern style pizza is super crispy and tasty. Service was great! They also do pickup and delivery, which we will probably take advantage of next time. Finally got to try Pizz'amici and it did not disappoint. We were able to snag a reservation for dinner and the vibe was perfect for a freezing Sunday night. Cozy, dimly lit, not too loud, not too cramped. It's BYOB so we brought a bottle of wine. And between four of us we ordered the Caesar salad and two pizzas. The salad was delicious but know that it comes pre-dressed. For the pizzas, we got the pepperoni and hot honey, which was delicious and sweet but not too spicy. We also got the sausage and giardineira which has a nice balance of heat and sweetness. Perfect tavern style that wasn't too heavy but still filling. And for the price, hard to beat. It's come's with ferrarini Italian butter, maldon sea salt phenomenal my mouth is watering just thinking about it! Pizza came out fresh and hot Cut in classic Chicago style squares Super thin crispy crust( Chicago tavern style) came out very fast maybe 10 minutes. I favor more acidic sauces over sweet. The sauces was on point for me. You could also tell they use good brand cheese and fresh mozzarella. Their service was on point from the hostess to the server very attentive and respectful and fast. I would definitely come back and try multiple different pizzas. I definitely recommend you get here early to avoid to be in the back of the guarantee line!! You could also make a reservation. Some of the best tavern style pizza you can get in the city! Recommend resos as they are booked and busy - bar is first come first serve. We shared two pies, classic sausage and giard / pepperoni with hot honey. The pepperoni was perfect! Loved the cracker thin crust. The proportion of topping to ratio was just right. The sausage and giard felt a little heavier - maybe too much sauce/cheese ratio? Flavors were still delicious though. Caesar salad was pretty good - we enjoyed the full sized anchovies included! Not respectful to pickup orders. I tried to order a pizza at 5:00pm and the next pickup was 8:00pm. For a restaurant that only accepts pickups I know they were lying to me that this many people are driving to this location and picking up. I don't appreciate another Chicago concept that creates artificial scarcity to ruin customers nights. read more

OK, we picked pizz'amici for pizza today. What a delightful establishment! Opened just yesterday, found this place warm and inviting with great bluesy music , Al Green, on the house system. Creating a very inviting ambience. Let's get to it, we were greeted like we were regulars, very welcoming, the wait staff was very attentive. The place started hopping and the staff seemed to find a stride, not bad for day two since open. We had the pizza, one cheese and one veggie, well done. The pie was superlative! Very thin crust, a solid 10 on the crispometer, the sauce was tangy, sweet, and high marks on the flavor. The cheese was perfectly proportioned and did not disappoint. Our only issue was the kitchen messed up the order, to their credit it was caught before it was served. We were told of the mishap would delay our service. I stopped here just the other night. I'm not sure what all the hoopla and fuss is about. While my pizza was cracker thin and crispy the pizza lacked flavor, had a spicy flavor, no real stretchy Italian mozzarella, extremely salty and almost too cheesy with a heavy aftertaste taste. We arrived right at opening on Sunday at 4 pm and unfortunately we weren't among the first 6-7 to get a bar seat. The staff were super helpful though and let us order 'to go' and sit to eat at the barstools in the front window. Very sweet of them to help us out like that! So thin and light I almost ate a whole pie alone (we got the pepperoni & hot honey) I loved everything about it- the sauce, the cheese blend, the pepperonis was all 10/10. We also got the house salad and focaccia which were also phenomenal! The salad was solid but the focaccia was just so light and fluffy and with the butter, we almost put in another order for it. Service was also great, we had a reservation for 7:30pm on a Friday, although it was very crowded and busy our serve Bill did a great job on checking in with us but also not checking in to the point of overkill. Also love the BYOB even if it is temporary, they offered to hold my beer in the fridge to stay cold- it's little things like that just made the experience even more enjoyable. Pizza was barely warm and looked like it may have been sitting for more than a bit. I found the pizza (pepperoni) to be too salty, very thin crust as was expected, but lacked depth IMO. There was noticeable spice to it, but the pizza was poorly balanced. Mostly tasted salt, cracker crust and pepperoni, not too much sauce or cheese. Contemporary cracker crust may not be my jam, although Pat's when they were on Sheffield was awesome. I'm disappointed because it's so hyped and it's a nearby joint- meh nothing special. read more
