When boyfriend and I moved to the suburbs, our landlord gave us the keys to our new apartment and a menu to Pizzaiola. That night, we ordered the first of several pizzas from the Pizzaiola to see if it was up to snuff or if we would need to go elsewhere for pizza. My test with any restaurant anywhere is to order something really basic -- if a place can do basic well, I feel confident enough to branch out. We got a plain cheese pizza... and a salad because I couldn't resist. The pizza was good. Not bad, not awesome, but a pretty solid cheese pizza. The freshness of the salad was what got me - mesclun greens with gorgonzola, ripe tomatoes full of flavor without the mealiness hothouse tomatoes get, and onions with raspberry vinaigrette dressing. They had me at ripe tomatoes. Since that first meal, we have had a few different combinations from Pizzaiola and hands down my recommendation is the grandma pizza and my original salad from that first night. Other salads we've had there haven't been great --one was downright bad-- so don't bother deviating. read more

The service staff, though young, is bright and quick, the pizza cooks, older, full of brash and bravado expected in any NY pizza shop. My office ordered pizza from here one day and I was quite satisfied with what I had. I tried a slice of the buffalo chicken pizza and it was pretty good. Nice level of hotness on the buffalo sauce, not too spicy not too bland. Crust could have been a little bit more crispy but it was nice that it wasn't overcooked. Good sized chunks of chicken all over the top of the pizza. Overall, just from that one buffalo slice I was quite intrigued. I plan on visiting this place in person and trying out some more pizza soon. read more

Good food but they have the tendancy of getting your order wrong (even when u ask them to repeat it when u place it over the phone) and they also have forgotten items in my order (one time I ordered a salad as part of our order and they forgot to include the dressing, another time I asked for 3 chicken paninis and 1 eggplant panini and when we got home there was 4 chicken paninis, no eggplant. another time we ordered a fried calzone with pepporoni inside and we got just a plain calzone). I will say when you call to tell them the order is wrong they send delivery guy out right away but its still annoying to have to wait when youre hungry and when u spend $100 on take out for a family of 5 u expect ur order to be right the first time. The farmer's market salad is yummy and their paninis are really good. I do wish they would be a little larger though but theyre only $5.50 so its not like they're overpriced. Pizza is above average too. I also like that they have a formal dining area. Not many italian places in the area have formal dining and good quality food. Despite the frequent mishaps with our ordering we do eat here regularly. We just have to be more disciplined about checking our orders before we go home if we are picking up and also before letting delivery guy leave. It is kind of annoying but the price we have to pay for good food I suppose! read more

Personally I don't like pizza loaded with cheese but I do like some. Barely a thin layer of cheese and sauce. Early on a Saturday night, were they afraid of running out? This place is hit or miss and now I'm done. Great if you are counting calories as the slices weighed nothing. read more

Our go to for take out pasta/pizza. They have a lot of delicious pasta dishes/salads/apps. I suppose they are a touch pricy, but I think the quality is pretty good and good portions. I've had better pizza, but still good overall. Perhaps have the people that answer the phones learn the menu better because the girl that took my order asked me what a menu item was that I was ordering. Doh!! read more

Today was the second time in brought home a burned pizza pie and had to return it for a refund. Ugh. Doesn't take me three strike. I'm done. Shame on them, I was looking forward to it. I'm usually very happy with my meal. Now I have to find another local pizzeria to love. I'm not the only I unsatisfied patron of this establishment. My coworkers love this place and I've had it for lunch with them a few times. We mostly order ahead and pickup but once we dined in. I stick to the salads because of my gluten allergy. I've had their house salad with grilled chicken and their antipasto salad. Adding chicken to a salad gets you two full pieces of chicken, which means I have enough for more than one meal. They package the chicken in a separate takeout container from the salad which I find a little unusual, although not a problem. The small antipasto salad is the perfect size for lunch for me. Today I didn't order ahead and was able to get my salad in 5 minutes, awesome service. Last time I waited about 20 minutes though. It's a hit or miss on timing with how crowded they are, so ordering ahead is your smartest move. read more

Food great, but I won't go back. Rude. I used to love this restaurant. We went there for years. Ordered from them on holidays. Got pizza there at least once every two weeks. Took my kids in for slices all the time. They admittedly have great food. Pizza, heroes, past dishes. However, a while back, right after they redecorated, I went into the place with my four kids as usual. As I was coming back to the table with two trays of food, before I could even put them down, one of the apparent owners of the place came up to me out of nowhere and told me in a very forceful and rude manner "Please make your daughter sit down!" She was standing on a booth bench. She was three at the time. And I just got there. He seemed more concerned with his new decor than with me as a loyal customer, or my situation handling four kids by myself. The look on his face wasn't so nice either. Just like the other Pizzaiola in Oceanside. Great pizza, great italian food. Though for some reason this location doesn't serve the mussels fra diavlo that I love so dearly. The grandma pie is outstanding and only just a hair short of the bar set by Gino's of Massapequa. Great stuff if you live in the area. Is it worth a long drive? Probably not. This is New York, and you can't drive 5 minutes without hitting a pizzeria of one kind or another. But if you happen to live around here, you can't do much better than this, it's delicious! read more

Just go to Emilio's in commack. Update..... Waited for pizza at counter ( in pizziola) one kid was cutting me a Sicilian slice that I picked. He cut it too small leaving the others too big. I commented to him, since you cut that one big, ill take that one. With that being said, an employee (family I presume) picked up the smaller slice and threw it in the garbage. I said to him, ( why did you do that? Why don't you just cut it up into smaller pieces and place it on the counter ) so your customers can taste for free. Too bad. When the pizza is made right it's great but 95% of the time it misses. Consistency is lacking and solely based on who the pizza maker is. Entrees and salads suck. So do the garlic knots doused in factory pre-made minced garlic in crap oil. They serve expensive garbage that they call food. Another place that simply doesn't come through or get it. 1.5 stars are for the service only and that rare pizza that shows up once in awhile. Arrivederci, Adios...same source of the inconsistency. I eat here twice a month and every Friday I have delivery. This is the best pizza in town. My deliveries always arrive promptly and the drivers are always friendly. It's great that this place accepts credit cards over the phone, not many places do. The pizza here though is rather pricey, but I think it's worth it because the quality is so good. As far as eating in, it's a casual atmosphere and noisy, but service is fast and the food is excellent and always arrives piping hot. Salads and seafood are always fresh. My personal favorite is the chicken francaise, it's always buttery and lemony. I love their sauce, it's smooth and a little sweet. Perfect! There is very seldom a wait for a table and if there is, it's never more than 10 minutes. The desserts are to die for, especially the tartufo. YUM! Cons - this place isn't the best if you have a large group such as 8 or more, they simply don't have the room. When ordering a hero, the bread isn't toasted. This isn't the worst thing in the world, it's just a preference for me. No refills on soda. Boo! And my biggest pet peeve of all, you wait way too long to get your check. One thing about this pandemic is it has me trying delivery from local establishments I've never tried before. Just good, fresh, delicious Italian food. Their food is quality and doesn't have that greasy feel that a lot of pizza places in the area do. I especially enjoyed their eggplant parm which came with a garden salad. I informed the business of issue and I received my order by delivery from pizziaola. They even told me to keep the wrong order we picked up ( glad they don't recycle). They resolved this with no hesitation. Complete honesty is I have had issues with pizzaiola over the past 25 years whether quality or mistakes, but they always have resolved it satisfactorily. Hands down the best grandma pie ever! Five stars for that, and quick delivery. Have experienced warm pizza as opposed to super hot (from time to time), so perhaps they need to invest in warmer bags. Smells good when u walk in but food was pretty boring. Got the personal pizza. Burnt crust, Margarita. It's summer, I expected a lot more basil. Then I ordered eggplant panini. It was 2 slices of eggplant that looked neither grilled or fried. Just a shade of gray, under some jar sliced red pepper. Also no grill marks, under a bed of cheese. All of this was on a kiser roll??? Not pressed not grilled. I did the "pick 2". So I asked waiter which soup he likes and he said the veg minestrone soup wo hesitation. I ordered and it was mostly pasta w tiny, tiny bits of vegs. No flavor at all. While on waiter, he was just ok too. Served sodas (work luncheon), and no straws. We all had to ask for a straw separately. We stacked our plates to hand him. He seemed to forget to take them after our appetizer. I give one star for the decor and the smell when I walked in.
