Even though I lived in Chicago for along time, the home of deep-dish extremely thick pizza, I'm still a New York girl at heart where I love eating the delicious, delicious, thin cheese pizzas. Like I said before, I like eating crispy flat breads, so this ultra crispy flat bread like pizza was perfect for me. This pizza was just enough for lunch and definitely hit the spot. I fairly enjoyed it that when I got back to the office, I told a colleague that I must take her to this place sometime. However, next time I do want to try the salad bar. All the food at the salad bar looked super fresh, staying true to its words that it's healthy, as stated on the menu.

Technically the terrace is public space, and anyone can sit and use the Divino furniture, so you may find yourself sitting next to a random geezer. Also, the last time I chatted to the manager, he inferred that he shouldn't technically be giving table service there, but he was not that clear about it! The food here is great. It is rustic family style Italian food, with lots of things like cold cut platters, cheese platters, pastas, pizzas, and mains like roasted chicken, steak, suckling pig. The pasta dishes are a little small, and definitely only good for one, so unfortunately these are not so family style, however, the pizzas are generous and hearty. My absolute favourite is the pork chop milanese, but make sure they cook it well. I have had a couple of re-fires on this dish before. The staff are great. Very friendly, polite, and reasonably efficient. Not the fastest service in the world, but always with a smile. Anyway, you there to have a leisurely meal, so why hurry the service! Marco and the other senior staff are particularly good, especially if you have a large group or an event. They will bend over backwards to make sure you are well looked after. It really does make you feel a million dollars! Great food, great environment, great staff - as you may have guessed, I am indeed a fan!

The desserts (Tiramisu & Belgian Rustic Almond Kiss) were good! I'm a huge dessert fan, so anything sweet is right up my alley. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of the other stuff we ordered. The best dish was the Chicken Waterzooi, which was supposedly cooked in beer reduction, but just tasted really cheesy to me - which I'm ok with (also a huge fan of cheese). The other dishes we got were just plan disaster. The prosciutto tartine which was supposed to come with buffalo mozarella came without the cheese, and with a friendly hair on it. Not great. So we sent it back and got a new one, which tasted alright, but not good enough for the price. The stars are for their exceptional customer service though - the staff were friendly and super nice. Now they just have to get their food up to speed.

First off it was kind of hiding inside a commercial building. It required an uphill climb before reaching there. However I found it funny that the majority of the staffs only spoke English. It was kind of ironic that we had to speak English in a Cantonese speaking island. Of course we had to order Caesar Salad and Spicy Rigatoni because they are the two popular dishes at Carbon. Caesar salad was made in front of you and the waiter told us he flown to their NYC location to master the skill of making this salad. I was ensured everything was as good as their NYC location. The salad was fresh and crunchy; it was a combination of Baby Romaine lettuce, garlicky croutons and shaved cheese tossed in a rich tangy creamy dressing. Every bite was covered with a right amount of freshly made flavorful dressing. The mouth watering Spicy Rigatoni was so irresistible. The creamy spicy tomato sauce blended beautifully with the pasta. It was so delicious and addictive. I would not leave Carbon without eating its Spicy Rigatoni. We also tried the Veal Parmesan but it was kind of a disappointment because the meat was too dry and tough. The saving grace was that it was still full of flavor. We did have a good dinning experience there. I think it is a good restaurant for a romantic dinner or special occasions. It was as pricy as their NYC location but the food wasn't as good though. A little expensive for pizza, but since I do not eat it often, I think it's well worth it. The brussel sprout pizza is my favorite, and unique (I've never seen it at another pizza place). Having been there multiple times, I was a bit surprised when on this recent visit is when they handed us a stamped loyalty card. I asked our sweet server if this was something new and she said no. I asked her why they didn't inform us of that on our previous visits and she, of course, didn't have an answer, but politely mentioned she's seen us before and that's why she gave it to us. The pizzas are good. They've added cocktails recently here, I reckon. Their menu keeps changing. The one time we had antipasti there - smoked eggplant, my jaw was on the floor with the price to portion size proportion, more because the taste disappointed as well.
