A little expensive for pizza, but since I do not eat it often, I think it's well worth it. The brussel sprout pizza is my favorite, and unique (I've never seen it at another pizza place). I'm also into any pizza with prosciutto now it. Make sure to save room for dessert - the cheesecake is fantastic.

Having been there multiple times, I was a bit surprised when on this recent visit is when they handed us a stamped loyalty card. I asked our sweet server if this was something new and she said no. I asked her why they didn't inform us of that on our previous visits and she, of course, didn't have an answer, but politely mentioned she's seen us before and that's why she gave it to us. The pizzas are good. They've added cocktails recently here, I reckon. Their menu keeps changing. The one time we had antipasti there - smoked eggplant, my jaw was on the floor with the price to portion size proportion, more because the taste disappointed as well. The Lava pizza is a great vegetarian option: fresh burrata mozzarella, basil, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and tomato sauce. On the menu it mentioned having chilli oil but mine didn't seem to have it; either way without it it was still pretty tasty. I also tried the Alba pizza which was also a hit for my tastebuds! Can't remember what type of sausage it had but me likey. Surprisingly, service was quite attentive during lunch; our server was quick to fill our waters whenever we were low and always checked up on us to see if we needed anything else. Though this is a chain, fresh ingredients and the right amount of seasoning make all the difference. I will for sure return many times. :)

Lunch in Hong Kong…read more.. After ten days in China, we wanted to eat something different. We looked for a Greek restaurant, but it seemed to have closed. Next door was La Taverna... Yay! Italian cuisine! The cozy restaurant was almost full. However, the receptionist let us sit at a table that was scheduled for 2pm guests. We assured her that we'd eat quickly because we had to go back to the hotel to check in. Thank you! I ordered a lelemon iced tea (with liquid sugar) and scallop asparagus pasta. The meal included complimentary chibatta bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar... and a fresh green salad... yum! I ate everything, even though the pasta was a bit peppery. I saw a few chili pepper seeds... LOL! It was delicious overall! That was a great lunch! I was very happy with the authentic ambiance and excellent service!

However, I have slowed my rate of attendance of late, as it is seemingly getting more and more expensive. It used to be cheap place to fill you boots on "home style" Italian food, but it's actually starting to get as pricey as some of the joints in Soho. Especially when a lot of the Soho Italian restaurants do Super Monday. At last visit, my lasagne cost HKD118, plus service. The restaurants themselves are perfectly fine. They are nothing to get excited about, merely providing a place to sit and eat, which is reasonably clean. The staff are generally OK, a bit under paid perhaps to really care about good customer service, but perfectly pleasant if not efficient. They don't speak much English in these restaurants, which reinforces my notion that it may be Italian for the local masses. They also do a loyalty VIP card, which give you money off, if you think you may be visiting a lot!
