The Kitchen is a small place and it might be difficult to get a table but they serve the best crusty pizza in Hong Kong

We call this restaurant Dad's Place because if my father is on Discovery Bay for Lunch or dinner…read morethis is where it goes to eat, and as such many of us are forced to join him there - not that we complain! Il Bel Paese brings a sliver of Italy to Hong Kong, more in the way that they are understaffed and completely do not understand to idea of rushing than their food. To me that adds to the charm and teaches one patience and how to simply enjoy a social occasion. The manager, an Italian man with interesting facial hair, strolls around in his bright colored pants correcting the pronunciation of each patron's order. "Yes, yes, it is coming." He says with a smile whenever asked about the food or bill. The restaurant has the majority of its tables just outside its doors. You can imagine how chilled-out a feel it is on a clear sunny day with an Aperol Spritz in one hand, it makes it hard to argue with any of the waiters! The Italian food they serve tastes authentic, meaning very good. The dishes I'd recommend are the pesto penne pasta with pine nuts, an easy meal for lunch or an afternoon snack, their gnocchi is sublime - one of my favorites - and their salmon dish is also rather delicious. The only problem being that the portions are a bit on the small side leaving one hungry after the meal. Worry not! They have a gelato corner within the restaurant, besides its small shop of Italian ingredients, that offer a range of sugary good flavors. If you are preparing to visit Il Bel Paese be sure to do it in a happy mood without a time constraint. If you can do that you'll have a much fuller experience, learn a few Italian words, and maybe, just maybe, forget about work the next day!

This local food chain is everywhere in Hong Kong for those who are having withdrawals from eating pasta. Unlike the typical Italian pasta selections, The Spaghetti House combines both Chinese and Italian influences to make their pasta dishes one of the more unique dishes I've ever seen. To start, the atmosphere is very different. Although I checked in at the airport location, the location in Mong Kok is as lively as ever. The menu offers dozens of selections from appetizers to pizza to pasta and some rice bowls (risotto) to your liking. The dishes are crafted specifically to include some Chinese ingredients while maintaining the Italian influences such as the types of cheese and the tomato sauce. The drink selection offer an array of drinks that allow the Chinese culture to enjoy while providing comforting options such as sodas and wines with your meal. Service is completely different than the places I've been in the United States. Service can lack due to the highly busy atmosphere but servers are always attentive. When asking for the bill, it's typical and normal for the waitstaff to wait for you to pay before leaving and coming back to pick up your check. I've noticed this at almost every sit down restaurant here in Hong Kong. while this could be awkward for some (I know it was for me from the beginning!), this prevents the staff from forgetting about who they gave the check to and some how is more efficient in getting you your change and out the door when you're ready. I would recommend this place to those visiting who are looking for a night of familiarity...a home away from home, if you will.

During my last visit to Hong Kong, my flight was delayed and Singapore Airlines gave me a $180 HKD dinner voucher. I decided to finally dine at The Spaghetti House. I decided to order the Double Cheese Spaghetti with crabmeat and shrimps al forno and the garlic focaccia as a take-out order, so I can take it back to the SilverKris Lounge to eat. If I was able to turn back time and redeem my voucher at the airport Popeye's or McDonald's, I definitely would. My meal from The Spaghetti House was absolutely disgusting and inedible. Upon opening the take-out trays, there was a foul weird smell coming from the Spaghetti w/ crabmeat and shrimps al forno. I attempted to eat a couple bites but I ended up throwing away the entire entree after my first few bites. The garlic bread tasted dried-out and not too flavorful. I honestly should have read the Yelp reviews on here before I redeemed my voucher here. If you are trying to get a meal in between flights, you are better off eating at the Airport food court.
